At least 2 of these cameras overheat. Would be nice to take that info along when comparing these. They’ll turn off after 30-45 minutes of use (even when not recording)
Hello I would like to know if the camera would heat up when geared up with a hdmi output for more than a hour or so. We dont do internal recordings at our church. I already own a6300 personally. Just want to know how it will work for Church live. Thank you in advance
We've been using the Canon M50 since March 2020 and had great success with it. Prior to that, we had no recording or livestream equipment, so it was a great entry-level setup for the cost. The biggest upgrade we've made is adding an 80-200mm EF lens to use in our worship services. On a BIG side note, Canon has an EOS Webcam Utility that will bypass the 30-minute record limit when we hook up our M50 into OBS, using the micro-USB or micro-HDMI ports on the side of the camera. We use this feature to livestream services, record videos, or livestream & record at the same time. UPDATE: After some research, I may have learned that the micro-HDMI port isn't great for capturing a signal because it's really only designed for a smaller camera monitor. We use the micro-USB and have no issues.
That's a great addition, Andrew. Thanks for adding that. I've heard good things about the EOS Webcam Utility but haven't used it myself yet. Glad to hear it's been useful for you!
Might be a dumb question - but would the EOS Webcam Utility get effected by the fact that we run our cameras into an ATEM mini? Thinking about buying one for our church but wanted to make sure that wouldn't be a problem.
@Andrew Desko Nice setup,Man. Our church use the canon m50 too but have no idea how to set it up using OBS or any other stuff to make it better on facebook live. Could you give your email and give some help if you dont mind?
What can you recommend for a situation where the camera has to be 50-70 feet away from the pulpit? Am I limited to using a camcorder with a good optical zoom? Using a 400mm lens with these DSLR’s doesn’t seem like a great option when the lens itself costs more than the camera...
Thanks Brady. We have two Panasonic 1080p broadcast cameras in the auditorium, connected to a vmix pc via Blackmagic Decklink cards, so I have two questions: 1) Can I add either of these cameras via NDI to vMix through the router? 2) Which of these cameras will take the best still pictures? Thanks for a great video.
Great video! I would be interested in your suggestions for Best Service Live Stream Camera under $1000? I have found live streaming challenging at they are often filmed from a distance (from the balcony or back of the room) and many stages don't have great video lighting. Plus many smaller churches don't have a large budget for an expensive camera.
Hi Everyone. I am new to this camera scene. I have a budget of $1000 and my main priority is video recording, Live stream recording, my church has low light (camera that takes good low light videos) and our church service is 2hours (you dont want the camera to die during a live streaming). Please help ????
As a recovering Southern Baptist, I'm definitely not one who wants to help any church do ANYTHING. However, I will make an observation that could be useful. I wouldn't recommend cameras with large sensors for this use case. You're probably better off with a more traditional HD camcorder. Why? Depth of field. Sure, shallow depth of field looks nice and artsy in the movies, but those movies have dedicated focus pullers and specific marks that the talent has to hit. If you're streaming a church service, you won't have full control over where everyone involved will be. So, you increase the risk of people being out of focus if you have shallow depth of field. Sure, you could buy a camera with a large sensor and stop the lens down for the same effect, but at that point, why have the larger sensor in the first place?
Using the sony a6600 because of the battery and crazy autofocus 😀.. We use it at church with some old Canon xa20/25. I also own the G85.. but as my personal camera. One thing i dont like is the battery. You need an external source as it wont last for more than an hr. Also the autofocus is not good. I do like that it is cheaper to get a 300mm equivalent lens with a M43 than a Emount lens
My church is looking to upgrade our live stream cameras. Our cameras are set about 60 feet away from the stage. We never move the cameras from their position on the stands. Their only purpose is the live video stream so low light is key. Our budget is around $1,500 any advice?
So I think I've watched all of your videos, but I never heard where Alex went. At first, I thought it was just covid, then it seemed permanent. What's up?
I am looking at getting one of these three, probably the m50 because my budget is pretty small, my question is which lens do I get? I am pretty sure my senior pastor will want it mounted on the back wall which is probably 35 feet from the platform. What lens should I get to get a quality image from that distance that still gets maybe 15 feet of the platform in frame?
Hi, love your videos.. Very helpful and informative. Question: what lens (or lenses) would you recommend when using the same a7s III in church in order to get good videos? Thanks
Good advice, as a Canon mirrorless shooter and using them around our church I'd like to add 2 things 1. The canon m50 MKII the better camera to get vs the original IF you are looking to live stream, the M50 MKII has clean HDMI out, and will work better with a Blackmagic ATEM mini 2. If you are willing to "break" the $1000 barrier, for the money the Canon m6 MKII is an amazing camera for the money. It does a proper 4k, it does clean HDMI out, slightly larger battery, autofocus and color science is top notch and you can get it with the kit lens for about $1100. Also it has never once overheated on me while running it for between 2 services over 6 hours. Finally if you want the reach the the 18-150mm lens is great. If anyone would like samples I can point to our live stream, so you see it in action.
@@RevJorgeDiaz Here are 2 examples - First, this is a one camera setup I record in 4K on the Canon M6MKII which allows me to hide cuts by zooming in and out as needed. So even though I record in 4k, I deliver in 1080p - ruclips.net/video/5qelY0lsciQ/видео.html

Thank you for this Insightful video Brady about budget cameras for churches. I would like to know is it good option to get a camcorder or a mirror less cameras for Livestream in long run for churches ?
Hopefully this is helpful but we’ve been using both, out main safe camera is the Canon HF G50, and one of the side cameras is a m6 MKII, the third camera an older camcorder but the quality is not on par with the other 2. When I replace the 3rd camera I hope to get another camcorder. For 2 reasons, they natively support power to the device and the ability to use “power zoom” I can buy a LANC remote to adjust my framing. That said I love the m6mkii for our twice per week talking head segments I do with the pastor.
If you are still wondering I would say go for a Mirror less, a good camcorder that would match $1K Mirrorless Image quality, would cost you close to $7K or more, the best part about mirrorless is you can easily change lenses
