    I appreciate how realistic this is. You see a ton of picture perfect tiny homes that are so minimalist that you can't imagine how people really live there, but the controlled chaos of this tiny home feels believable.

    I love his house precisely because it's a little bit messy, like organized chaos. Most tiny house tours you can tell are staged in such a way that it's immaculately clean and doesn't look lived-in at all. His tiny house definitely looks broken-in and realistic. Great video. Cheers!

      @@TinyHouseExpedition Agreed - no criticism. If you want to be the minimalist - that's fine, it is good to have your stuff to cook etc. Someone said hoarder - think about it, if this was all in a regular house, let's say small at 1,500 sq ft, what he has in the house is nothing, and you could claim you are a real minimalist in the 1,500 sq ft.

    • @KitKatToeBeans
      @KitKatToeBeans 5 лет назад +4

      Beth Cattell That's exactly what I was going to say! So many tiny houses I've seen are unrealistic for long term life. They make it seem like you can't have earthly possessions! How many ppl have tried the tiny home life, getting rid of sentimental belongings, only to realize it wasn't possible anymore. This proves you can live tiny and still actually live.

    One of the best I have seen. I love the catwalk concept with the LR on one side & bedroom on the other. Very ingenious. I am a minimalist, so wd have to get rid of probably 2/3 of the stuff he has, but I like this guy. He seems very fun and lives the way he chooses and seems to be very happy. I think I could live in a Rover. It has lots of storage; not fancy, but very nice. I wd love to see it in person. I dream of having a tiny house, but probably never will. My husband likes our 1800 SF house with 3 BR, 2.5 BA and a Bonus Room over our 2-car garage. I do too, but our children are grown and gone, so we don’t need all this space. But, it is what it is. I can still dream.

Her long term goal is to convince him one day to move in full time after theyve adjusted to the changes tiny living brings. They've started the framework on the trailer already. It's going up super slow because they dont have a huge income, but once it's done, maybe theyll sell their house and have a bunch of money to travel with :) (maybe an idea? Lol)

    I loooooove everything about this tiny home, the loft, the guest area, the eccentric staircase, the kitchen, especially the fact that it seems to be very much in use, warm and inviting, the simple shower, the man's spirit! Love it!
    Only thing I might have changed is to get a washer dryer combo instead of this stackable one. Seems to be taking up the much needed space. And you don't want anything impeding airflow in a bathroom.
    And maybe I would have made the barn door into a kitchen door with a pantry, that hides the toilet like a secret passage. He clearly needs that extra counter space and all those things could easily go on the kitchen door.
    But then, no darts. Sorry.

    This is the first video I feel actually shows what it looks like to live in a tiny home. It's fun to see what they look like just built, but I like that this looks like a normal house on the inside...what I would imagine it would look like if I lived in one of these

    andy noticed you have a fairly thick ceiling in your kitchen, maybe you could retro fit some storage for your pantry overflow. you could make some doors that swing down making shelves to house your pantry goods. There are a lot of versions on many videos about tiny homes. you have a great home.

    • @vbcoachbretz
      @vbcoachbretz 5 лет назад +2

      Mary West absolutely there is a few square inches in the loft ceiling and I could do some start of shelving/pull down. When you add moving parts you lose precious inches and add a fair amount of expenses. If I were to redo my build it is something I’d consider but probably “open storage” and trying to save a few inches

    Suggestion - Get a large external terabyte hard drive and burn all your CD's and DVD's to it and set up a network so you get all that shelf space back. Nice place, I like a lot of your ideas.

    Love the stairs/catwalk to both upper sections of the house. it actually gives it a feeling of being able to walk around in a larger house going to different rooms. It does look like he's struggling a bit with the minimalist/not hoarding things though lol! 2 guitars he doesn't know how to play, and bought a sewing machine that has to be stored now that he probably only ever used to lengthen a shower curtain. All of that extra food, and whatever else overflowing onto the top of the counters and range does not make it look "Homey" or lived in to me like a lot of people are saying. It looks messy, cluttered, and like you maybe need to reorganize some cupboards or something. I'm thinking the camping gear he has stored in Rubbermaid containers inside, could be stored outside under the house along with the Kayaks and such. Nice guy, nice space, but doesn't have enough space for him and his enjoyment in cooking in my opinion.

    This is the first tiny house I've actually had no qualms with. The dude didn't give up a single amenity of any normal house, including the toilet. Just goes to show you that you don't have to try to be a new age hippie to live in a tiny house.

    • @vbcoachbretz
      @vbcoachbretz 5 лет назад +5

      So fun story about that... I used to say I have everything in my THoW that I had in my traditional house except for an inversion board (getting older with a complaining back sucks), a sous vide in the kitchen, and an arcade machine my friends and I had built. Well I bought a new inversion board (still trying to figure out the best way to store it) and my folks gave me a sous vide for christmas. What I call this lifestyle is Conscious Consumerism. Meaning when you add something you usually have to get rid of something that's about the same size. in this case I don't really use my steamer baskets very often so I donated those to fit the sous vide.

      @@vbcoachbretz , So you need about a 15x24 inch space for the counter chaos? Any room for a shelf above the cooktop? How about hanging baskets? Any glasses that would look decorative on sink side counter, or mugs on wall? Windowsill? Use liquor bottles as bookends? Cutting board that fits as counter in sink? Anything else that can be nested or stacked? Anything you don't use? Anything seasonal that could go upstairs under the winter clothes? Snacks and sodas somewhere by the TV? Any room for a narrow shelf cart for spices and little bottles? Hang over door storage? Gym locker outside by chairs?

    • @vbcoachbretz

And I was really happy to see the shower bump up, I assumed it must be possible but hadn't seen one yet in any of the videos I watched, and I'd definitely need that.

    • @vbcoachbretz

      Thanks Lora... Yes. The Bump up idea came about because I knew I wouldn't be happy having to bend over to wash my hair... sometimes a simple solution really works best
