    I have this movement in a Cadisen Diamond. So far very impressed with on-wrist accuracy (-2s/d), the thinness of the movement and the fact it is high beat and the entire watch only cost £80 ($103 US). Insane

    I am the not-so-proud pwner of a microbrand watch with the non-date version, the 9039. I keep reading about what a great movement it is, but I've had no end of trouble with it.
    I ended up pulling the trigger on a Hamilton Khaki Field Mechanical instead. Best watch I've ever owned. No more Miyota for me.

    The squeaking noise at around 0:31 and 2:01 is NOT coming from the Miyota, correct?
    It sounds like it might be coming from your chair. (It happens more times after 2:01 too).

    • @calibercorner
      @calibercorner  4 года назад +1

      The squeaking noise you're hearing is definitely NOT coming from the Miyota. It's is not the chair either. It's likely the rubber finger cots rubbing. We have the audio cranked up to pick up the sounds of the movement.

      @@calibercorner Thank you so much for your quick reply. I've been thinking about getting a new diver's watch that is 16mm thick, which happens to have this Miyota 9015 movement in it, and I wanted to make sure before buying it that there wouldn't be a problem with the noise when it's on my wrist. Your video has calmed my fears. I doubt that I would hear it when it is in its pretty thick case. What do you think? Thanks for your help!
      This is the exact watch, if that helps you have a more informed opinion: www.scurfawatches.com/product/bell-diver-1-black-pvd-auto-new-for-2020/

    • @KeepTheTime
      @KeepTheTime 4 года назад +4

      @@private464 The 9015 is considered by many watch collectors to be a noisy movement, but sometimes it really comes down to the specific piece it's in. Scurfa makes decent watches, the Bell Diver 1 looks awesome!

    • @calibercorner
      @calibercorner  4 года назад +2

      @@private464 Fortunately, any sounds from the movement won't like squeaky rubber finger cots, but actually caused by the rotor spinning. We will try to make a video of different rotors spinning to compare the noise they produce.

    • @private464
      @private464 4 года назад

      @@calibercorner But what do you think about what I wrote?
      The fact that it's in a 16mm case should make it hardly noticeable while it's on my wrist, correct? I just want to feel more comfortable before buying the Scurfa Bell Diver 1 watch. No guarantees, just your (educated) thoughts.

    Is it me or does that Rotor seem VERY stiff??

    • @DenverDave5280
      @DenverDave5280 2 года назад +2

      It's a unidirectional winding movement. The rotor winds clockwise (when viewed from case back side) and it free spins the other direction.

  • @larryscott3982
    @larryscott3982 4 года назад +1

    For $100, maybe. I see the speed adjustment is swept off scale high. And the oversized case for the small movement looks silly. The rotor weight is riveted. The heart of knock offs. And the likes of Filippo Loreti ultra cheapo. The kind of movement you discard instead of maintain.
    My Rolex 1570 60 yrs old, 1-3 seconds per day, resale value increasing over, worn everyday for decades, and not even midlife. What will a Miyota be worth after 5-10 yrs of daily wear?
    Comparing these is like comparing Porsche to Toyota Tercel

    • @gmotionedc5412
      @gmotionedc5412 4 года назад +6

      True but for the cost of the Rolex PLUS all the many service visit costs over the decades a person could have had a new nice looking watch every single year. Everything in life is a trade off. It’s what’s more important to you that matters in the end. I like having many watches not just a couple.

      Gmotion EDC
      True that. I’ve had two Rolexes for going 40 yrs. acquired used, and they were sort of old then. And yeah, could’ve bought replacements several times over for the upkeep. And I’ll don’t anticipate ever selling them or not maintaining them. They run as fine as they did in the 60s.
      You’re right.

      It’s the Toyota Tercel v. Acura Legend conundrum. Both do the same job. Ok.
      Appreciation for a fine machine v. an ok machine. 40 yrs down the road, I prefer the one that has no loss of function. I prefer the one that has been with me throughout my high travel career. It goes where I go. And I trust after I’m gone, it’ll still be in service for the next owner. That’s worth something. Some people knock down 200 yr old buildings, some people maintain them for all the same reasons.

      This movement itself costs approx $100. It is considered a premium high beat movement that is designed to compete with the ETA 2824-2 movement. Sorry you think it's in anyway a knockoff. Different strokes for different folks.
