    You've got me wondering about making healthy salad dressings with this thing!

    • @discountjuicers
      @discountjuicers  6 лет назад +4

      Yes! You can make salad dressings with the nut butter first, and then add some liquids, like orange juice. That would be amazing. You can also make any other salad dressing you would normally make in a food processor. The automatic wiping blades come in quite handy to scrape down the sides.

    Hi, DiscountJuicers.com could you please address the whole 'soaking' issue? I thought you had to soak to get rid of the enzyme inhibitors everytime you make nutmilks. I understand that you can soak anyway if you want to, but then this machine only cuts out the nutmilk bag portion of making nutmilks, as the Vitamix can blend the nutmilks in way shorter time than the Nutramilk can. Also, since Nutramilk has to make nut butter prior to making any nutmilk, don't you have to dehydrate the soaked nuts before you make nutmilk? What are your thoughts on that? Would you skip soaking? If skipping soaking creates no health risks, then I am very interested in this machine, once the price decreases/it goes on sale.

      There are pros and cons to everything in life.. Including soaking your nuts.
      1. You can use soaked or non-soaked nuts in the Nutramilk and it will work just fine.
      2. Based on labratory testing of the un-soaked almond nut milk in the nutramilk with the fine 100 size mesh: There was less than 0.04 g/100 g of Phytic acid, which is considered undetectable. I believe this is because the skins are left INSIDE the machine and do not get out into the milk so phytic acid is very minimal (and dilute)
      3. There is no need to dehydrate nuts before processing them in the Nutramilk. Soaked nuts will work fine.
      4. While a person should not eat too much phytic acid, in small amounts it may be beneficial.
      5. Some nuts I will continue to soak, some nuts I wont soak, depending on the nut, and if I remember/have the time to soak. When using the Nutramilk, I do not believe soaking is as important.

    Some Macadamia nut milk would be truly magical!! Made me want some so badly-I ordered some lol. Will you offer future sales to your friendly neighbors up North? I would love to have this and an Omega in my arsenal some time in the near future. I seem to have succumb to a spontaneous food allergy to many "normal" foods and am force to go vegan by this triggering a hidden Asthma I grew out of as a child. I greatly appreciate your videos on juicing and gardening for the wealth of knowledge sewn throughout them. Hope you and yours have a wonder Christmas and New Year! : ) -Aaron

      The Soyabella is designed as a soy milk maker, but can also be used to make nut milk. Of the two, I prefer the Nutramilk, as it makes a creamier nut milk.
      I hope to make a video comparison between the soyabella and nutramilk.

    One concern I have is heating the nuts while in the processing stage. I would like to know the typical temp. while in this stage. Also, soaking nuts prior to processing releases the enzyme inhibitors, which is important! Does soaking the nuts first present any sort of problem in running the machine?

    • @discountjuicers
      @discountjuicers  6 лет назад +4

      Temperature in the first stage depends on how long the stage is being run. When I did the macadamia nuts and help seeds it did get warm, but not above 100 in my opinion. I hope to test temperature in a future video.
      Yes, You can soak and/or sprout seeds before processing to make nut milk. Will work fine.
      You can also soak/sprout and then dehydrate for a different texture/taste and then process into nut butter.

    • @liz2959
      @liz2959 6 лет назад +1

      Thank you for your reply. I am considering purchasing the Nutrimilk, especially if the heating range is low. Do you think that you will ever offer the PayPal option on your website??? I am also interested in a vertical slow juicer . I had a Kuvings. It was an older model. I had all sorts of problems with it and no company support. I ended up just throwing it away. I just bought a Greenstar Pro, which I LOVE, particularly because the pulp is so dry, but sometimes I want to juice really fast and so I find that the vertical slow juicers are quick. I still have not found a juicer that produces dry fruit pulp. I would think that it would have to go through two stages. Perhaps the juice pressers would do the job, but again, it's a two step process. Geez! Why do I have to love juice so much!!!

    • @discountjuicers
      @discountjuicers  6 лет назад +1

      Hi Liz, The temperature was measured after the nut butter stage and was 84 degrees. We will not offer paypal. We can accept a paypal debit/credit card on our site which comes out of your paypal account.
      Two stage - Pure juicer will get fruit pulp fully dry, and is the best way to get the most yield on fruits. Otherwise fruit pulp can be wet depending on what juicer you use. The Omega VSJ843 is one of the most efficient on most fruits. Kuvings early models in my experience had some quality control/design issues in my opinion.

    Listen, this is far too much work to make nutmilk. I have owned the Vitamix, the Blendtec and everything in between. I hated the big profile, the alledged BPA -free plastic and countertop clutter. I got rid of ALL of them and bought a high quality handheld blender. BEST decision I ever made. I soak my almonds or whatever in a stainless steel or glass bowl, drain, then add water and blend with handheld and strain through cotton cloth. LOVE the fact that the handheld takes up little countertop space, is not loud, and blends food in my non-plastic containers and is a cinch to wash. I do not eat frozen drinks anymore so a handheld works for me to blend nutmilks and sometimes puree other Vegan dishes like to make soup or salad dressing. Imagine how easily my handheld blender travels, too! I will not mention the brand I bought, but I discourage folks from buying the cheap handheld blenders. They break! Mine has just as much or more power than some blenders!

      Not sure why you wouldn't mention the name; it might help somebody on thier health journey. I understand if you have your reasons. John doesn't sell the nutrabullet (sounds like the devise you may be referring to), but has shown how you can turn it into a vacuum blender. No harm in mentioning 'outsider' products in the name of better health; that's John's goal anyhow. It's just good to buy from him if you had already intended to buy a particular product he sells so that he may continue his mission of spreading good health information...
      As for the nutramilk, I think it has to be the easiest and fastest way to make nut milk and get the most out of less nuts with less work that I have ever seen. The extra work you see John doing in this video is from making a lot of recipes to show it's versatility; but it would be nothing to make one thing one day in about 10 mins, then rinse and put away, in my opinion...

    Watching this, I had to resist the urge to call that device an overpriced unitasker (still arguably true), but I have to concede the technique of making a really smooth nut butter and using THAT as the basis for making nut milk, is indeed a different approach ... one I'd have to taste before I could weigh in on whether its worth it. I'm inclined to think itd be too pulpy (more like a nut shake than a proper nut milk), and throw a thick sediment ... not the body and texture I prefer in a nutmilk, but I'd need to try it first.
    I will say I feel you heavily overstate the time, mess and difficulty of using and cleaning a nutmilk bag (clearly because you have a vested interest in selling these machines, whereas bags offer no profit) ... a conflict of interest that some may find unsettling.
    Just as a reality check, I am able to puree, press, AND fully clean up from, the same size batch you do in less than half the time (BTW, I rest the bag inside a colander inside the bowl catching the milk, and very slowly but firmly press the bag of pulp with a large stainless steel paillard pounder until a firm dryish cake forms, rather than wring it bare handed).
    I also use my spent nut pulp ... after pressing it into a firm dryish brick, ill press it flat onto parchment (1/4" thick, using rolling pin and plastic wrap), then dehydrate it overnight at 130-140F, then pulse to a fine grit in food processor and dehydrate again for another 4 hrs, then cool and store in a glass jar (shelf stable for several months). The spent nut meal is great stirred into yogurt, or added to various baked goods or biscuits, or frozen smoothies.
    As far as easiest nut to work with, it is far and away almonds, because they have a firm grit thats easy to press dry, whereas cashews become gooey/pasty, and need longer time to press dry and to dehydrate.
    Bottom line: i think it is possible to more objectively explain the pros and cons of different approaches without having to overtly poopoo methods that hold less sales potential.
    P.s. You still need to work on brevity ... 65 mins is painfully long, and could have been covered in 30 mins or less. I'd have also liked to hear how loud the machine is (if only a few sec), but oddly, that is the only part you seemed willing to cut.

      While I do offer the Nutramilk machine, I honestly never liked using a nut milk bag. Before this appliance, I would use a juicer and blender to make nut milk as I show at:
      ruclips.net/video/5j2Z_CD9-_I/видео.html
      I would encourage you to make videos in a shorter amount of time. The more the merrier.

If it was possible to make a separate video with a shorter review for the average Joe that would be great and I bet it has potential to get more views. Maybe do these rapid fire reviews on the top must have products only that is easier to share but is still backed by all your great knowledge ?
