    John, when the VOID lid was hitting 24 in of mercury, what was the lid's display reading? Was it also reading 24? This is a good way to see how accurate & precise the lid itself is at notifying the user of vacuum.

    • @discountjuicers
      @discountjuicers  4 месяца назад

      The display does NOT correspond with the actual inches of mercury being pulled with the pump, since the sensors in the pump are not as accurate as a manual gauge, this was purposely done by VOID since they dont want to "guarantee" amount of vacuum pulled since depending on how many feet above sea level you are (and other factors) . I can say the higher # you get the better. The HP lid usually shows 20 on the display when maxing out. My other VOID lids show 17 or 18 on the display.

    • @discountjuicers
      @discountjuicers  4 месяца назад +4

      I did buy one recently and I did the test: it pulls 22 inches, which is respectable (after LOTS OF PUMPING) since the pump is more narrow and doesn't remove as much oxygen in one pump.

      @@discountjuicers Oh, wow, I would have never been aware of all those differences you explained if it wasn't for you. I'm definitely going to send payment for the Pure pump. Thank you! Also, I'm very surprised that so many of those blender's pumps pull over 20 in, some even around 25 in. Most vacuum sealers (ignoring chamber types), including FoodSaver - but other brands too - max out at around 17-18 in. Even the occasional model that gets above that is always only around 20-22 in. I'm pleasantly surprised that so many of those blender ones (built-in or external) are doing 22-26 in. Awesome!

    Hey John… how many mercury does the Tribest Dynapro hand held pump pull???
    Although I found the blade assembly on the Dynapro would leak eventually after six months regular vacuum blending with the electric pump.
    If the blade assembly on the kuvings commercial stands the test of time it looks like their product is the best. Although too bad the jug is so small.
    The Tribest is just so nice because of its size jug. So epic!

      I was not able to findmy tribest hand pump. That being said .I can say it pulls more than their electric pump, but due to the adapter and such I found it a pain to use. Based on comparing to the BEST plastic pumps, and knowing the tribest manual pump, I might guess 23-24 ? The pure will be a bit better at 26

    • @GodDieux
      @GodDieux 4 месяца назад

      @@discountjuicers the thing is that the tribest hand pump might pull more than 24 just because it’s longer and wider… and is well built as well. I personally liked the pump. It was the blade assembly that annoyed me because they kept leaking and it was a pain to wait weeks for a replacement.
      Apparently the new blendtec jugs in the last couple years have improved double bearings to withstand suction. “You can tell if they have double bearings if it is silver on the bottom, the old single bearing design had black on the bottom.”

    Kuvings needs to lighten up. I know you represent them in trade shows or you use to anyways. I bought the Kuvings SV500 and right out the box the vacuum function did not work and speaking to the representative to make a warranty claim or get a new one I mentioned "testing" the vacuum storage craffe that comes with it and they somehow misconstrued that to that I opened the machine and was tinkering with it and almost wouldn't process my claim. My first time having a Kuvings appliance and that's how they treat people who just bought a brand new machine right from their website.

  • @WFXO

    This is absolutely absurd. Blending is not adding a significant level of oxygen into your food vs when having some of the oxygen removed from the container. First, the vacuum seal is not creating a complete oxygen-less vacuum environment, nor is the oxygen in your blend going to quickly degrade your food. Food degrades from oxygen OVER TIME. I can’t even believe some of these foolish videos and people talking about 1 or 2 or 4 parts per million, 2 more parts per million etc…OK, lets think about that one, oxygen parts per MILLION lol. If you have bloat from your smoothies start thinking about the levels of insoluble fiber in your ingredients, not this snake oil scam.

      Thank you for sharing your perspective. You bring up some valid points about food degradation and oxygen exposure over time, which are absolutely true in many contexts. It’s important to have healthy skepticism when evaluating claims about new technologies like vacuum blending.
      To clarify, the focus of vacuum blending isn’t just about preventing degradation over long periods but also about maximizing the preservation of nutrients and reducing dissolved oxygen during the blending process, which some studies suggest can enhance the quality of certain blends. While it may not create a completely oxygen-free environment, the reduction in oxygen exposure can help preserve antioxidants and other nutrients that are sensitive to oxidation.
      As for bloating, you're absolutely right that insoluble fiber or specific ingredients can play a major role. For some people, though, reducing the amount of oxygen dissolved in their blends might provide additional benefits, especially for those sensitive to aerated beverages or foods.
      If you’re curious, I encourage you to try a simple test: blend water and bananas both traditionally (no vacuum) and with a vacuum blender. Taste each smoothie right after blending. Then let them sit for about 5 hours and taste them again. This can really demonstrate the differences vacuum blending can make in taste, texture, and freshness. It’s a hands-on way to evaluate whether the difference feels meaningful to you.
      Thank you again for sharing your thoughts-open discussions like this help us all better understand the science and practicalities behind these tools. Wishing you good health and success in finding what works best for your diet and lifestyle! 😊

      If nothing else the vacuum blend tastes better & retains color & if stored in vacuum container does lasf longer & retains freshness longer than non vacuum juice even when stored in vacuum containers afterwards. John’s method does retain color & fresh taste better: I have experienced the difference.
