My heart broke when they interviewed a husband waiting for his wife. They were texting each other, and then suddenly, it was disconnected. I pray for all the family. 😢❤

Not the time for this. This was simple. JFK is 3x busier and this does not happen. The I feel the Helicopter pilot was not experienced enought for night flight This was a practice Helicopter. The American Eagle pilot is not at fault at all. This is routine, dark, and you rely on the tower to warn you. No warning was given to American Eagle just the Helicopter.
This is why I don't like flying. I'll always prefer driving since it gives me some sense of control. I understand that there is a "higher chance of being in a car accident," but there is also a higher possibility of surviving a car accident than a jet crash.
That AA plane came from right here in my city. I'm literally 5 minutes away from the airport they took off from in Wichita Kansas. Prayers for those involved and affected.

My captain just said it’s possible that the ADSB was off on the helicopter. Where if it was on, the radar would’ve alert the helicopter before it got too close. I’ve been a flight attendant for 11yrs and we are currently at work (different airline) while this is going on. So we’re definitely sitting here ask our pilots every single question about possibilities. I know for a fact if you get too close to another aircraft or anything, that alert will go off and let the pilot know to pull up. It’s very possible that the helicopter didn’t have their’s on, and it was happening so fast the PSA crew didn’t have time to react. So many different scenarios. It is scary.

In most cases, they’re simply kids with an ant farm🫤 real training since 2006 has been diminished to “checking the block” on PowerPoint slides. I fly two to three times a week for work. Sometimes 4. I fly out of Dulles on a regular basis which isn’t far from DCA. Crazy to think about but if I’m being honest, every time I hop on a flight the thought is always in the back of my mind.

ATC did everything they were supposed to do. They asked if the Blackhawk had visual of the jet and the pilot in the Blackhawk confirmed it. It was then the blackhawks job to “see and avoid” the airliner because it’s on approach to land.
My anxiety woke me up at 4am and when I couldn't get back to sleep, I grabbed my phone... and saw this. So tragic and my deepest condolences go out to the families

Problem Crash detection on commercial airplanes are different than Helicopter detection and they don't talk to each other
