Crown buses are so intriguing! I’m very much enjoying the tour of this modernized version! One man who has spent a life time saving Crowns from the junk yard is Al Jennings in SoCal! He calls them the Porsche of buses! He has a RUclips channel worth checking out!

Al is the man! Love that guy. Al and the guys at JR Diesel in riverside nicknamed my bus "The Beast", because it has an Eaton Fuller Road Ranger 13 speed with the 855 Big Cam Turbo @ 350 HP!

I loved those busses when I was in school. Our school
Had a large one we took on field trips that had 2 rear axles. And was longer. Was a Detroit and had a heck of a lot of gears on that manual transmission.

Geeking out... Aqua Hots are incredibly expensive.... but if anyone is interested in cheaper alternatives, it's called a calorifier and they're used in sailboats. There are really simple versions that just plumb into your coolant system like existing bus heaters do, or optionally plug into AC/DC to keep it hot while you're not driving. It's super simple to just take out the air heat exchanger and use the connections to heat water... Basically free hot water anytime you drive! To do more of what the aqua hot does you'd need another pump, but still. Isotemp makes some nice calorifiers van/short bus sized.

I came in partway through while my fiancé was watching, so I'm sorry if you already answered this: What color paint (by name) is on the bus's exterior, made by what company? I prefer brighter shades of green than the earth-tone samples that he got from the paint department, and this bus looks like a good middle-ground color.

Seems like he doesn't answer very many questions. However if I'm not too late maybe I can help I had an 89 crown super coach and I wanted a color green on it, and we were shooting it in my buddies old shop so without removing the yellow we sprayed and adhesive enhancer which basically softens the original paint and then shot it with a PPG "Ford grabber green" paint that was a single stage enamel, and it looked exactly the same color as this bus that he's displaying, we always called it the watermelon LOL LOL man do I miss that bus... Anyway hope that helps

That is one truly amazing work of art & engineering! Never even heard of Crown, but I’m pretty impressed they just stayed true to their original design and engine & figured if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. One thing, Chuck, in a totally kind way, I have to tell you it’s po-table water. Like notable. Yes, I know that seems wrong because everyone thinks of a pot of water, but that’s not how it works. Don’t mean to criticize, but you like to learn & well, I thought I’d teach you something new. So you can stop misusing it, please? Said with love from Oregon ♥️ Jessica

Crown was one of the first school bus manufacturers in the US. They built really high end buses, in the end that was their downfall, school districts went for the cheaply made AmTran buses and put Crown and Carpenter out of business in the early 2000s.

Sorry to disagree with ya here Jessica but I’ve been all over this country and in my 58 years, this is the very first time I’ve ever heard the pronunciation that you believe is the accurate way over what the rest of us say. Now, I’m not going to argue about which way is correct or not because I truly don’t know, as I’m sure most of the nation doesn’t either but I can tell you that probably 98% of blue collar America calls it pot-able and I believe we are all absolutely fine with that pronunciation and there is absolutely nothing wrong with Chuck calling it that in lieu of po-table. I guess I look at it similar to toe-mark vs ta-mato pronunciation amongst many other words in our language where it really depends upon what region your from and whether right or wrong, it’s absolutely acceptable to pronounce it either way.
I don’t see any need for Chuck to change the way he pronounces that word due to the fact that he is going to relate to probably a good 95% of the population so why change and then have that 95% try to figure out what the hell he just said, lol 😂, makes no sense to me but like I said, I’m not saying you are wrong at all but there is also a difference between what’s correct and what’s acceptable and in this case , Pot-able is completely acceptable by majority of us out hear I believe but hey, I’m open minded and I like to learn too and if you can show me that it’s not acceptable to majority then I will do my best to try and change myself and admit that you are in fact correct otherwise, can we just agree to disagree and allow Chuck to continue on with whichever form he’s comfortable with?
Thank you for the intriguing discussion tho that I never in my life thought I’d have, lol, but we learn something new everyday

@@1982MCI You made me laugh. Yes we can definitely agree to disagree and I’m sure you’re right in that a lot of the people say pot-able. I’m just a bit of a wordsmith & my mom is too & I got corrected on it growing up, so I naturally correct others now. Besides, pot-able makes so much more sense, because you’re putting water in a pot, which is how I believe it got switched by the number you guessed (95%, don’t know that I’d agree) of people you’re guessing say it that way. Should you feel the urge to expand your knowledge & sound super knowledgeable however, just Google “pronunciation of potable water”. You’ll see I’m honestly telling the truth about the correct pronunciation of the word, but it’s your God given & constitutional right to say it how you want and I’d fight to the death to keep that right for you, honestly. I was just trying to help a guy out. With love! ♥️🙏🏼

Ok before you get all full of yourself . The bus was built before you started working on it. You have to look at yourself and ask yourself. Am I a glory hound because we are not proud of you. In other words some other people had a bigger role in this bus. So quit bragging about this old school bus. The people of los angeles played a much bigger rolein this bus but you never mention one word about those people. So I am certainly not a big fan of this channel. I am out.
