    Another bonus of buying decent brand parts is that they actually fit properly. How many cheap parts iv fitted to customers car by request and had to fiddle with or alter to make them fit is ridiculous and it never saves them as they get billed for that time

    • @likhwadube5937
      @likhwadube5937 Год назад +1

      Quality is always debatable as there are parts that are equal or better than OEM. Fitment is the biggest reason to use OEM as you save loads of time modifying parts that don’t fit properly.

    Parts story. My friend has an old Toyota LandCruiser. He lives in Tamanrasset in Algeria which is about three hours south of the capital Algiers. He can get parts, often Taiwanese, in Tamanrasset but they're not the good quality Toyota parts. So he flies up to Algiers to buy the genuine parts. Then he buys two seats of the plane back and straps the part, or parts, next to him. It never goes in the hold. 👍👍

    I just started watching your channel recently i really enjoy watching your content. You like a passionate person whose really hardworking and someone who wants to get job done on time. Well done guys keep it up.
    The car you worked on by the way is a Peugeot 207 it’s not a 107. When your working on any car you have to know what the make of the car that you are working on. Another thing is When you explain something you need to be specific such as when you were saying why shouldn’t use cheap service parts you need to say you need to explain, because lot’s of people out there who don’t about car’s won’t understand what you mean. That’s something that i would Advise to do. Great job to you and your brother. Keep up the good work.

    Buy yourself an electric extractor pump for oil changes on the mercedes 0651 engine's. Just make sure oil is warmed up first. Extract into empty container so clean and easy. The engine is designed to be serviced from the top. Diesel oil is a suspension oil (hence why its so black) as it holds all the contamination in it so no sludge if changed on time. It will extract warm oil in 5-8 mins. Save yourself a lot of time. As you probably found out theres a lot of bolts and shields to remove to get to sump. Mercedes dont do that at main dealer 4:47

    • @kristoffscuba5466
      @kristoffscuba5466 Год назад +1

      Doesn’t even need to be electric. I use one of those manual pumps. Couple of pumps to get it going and then wait a few mins and the container is full through gravity and vacuum. Also shows you exactly how much oil you have drained out via the gauge printed on the side of the container. Just put the same amount of fresh oil back in and you are close to perfect. Handy on cars with no dipstick where you want to be close to correct before checking the dash board oil level display.

    With my own cars where I've bought from Euro, I've used Bosch parts. They tend to cost only a bit more but the quality is much better. My trust motor factor supplies good quality parts at a reasonable price. I only use Millers oils from the same motor factor as it is also reasonbly priced. I've even bought genuine filters from dealers as not everything is stupidly expensive from them.

      Likewise, I was at a Stoneacre Peugeot getting tyres replaced. ECP man came round, dropped off a box full of filters. Starline... not even Mann or Bosch! Dealers offer two levels of service Brand Original or OEM, where they will fit "quality aftermarket parts" for a more economical service, which is still 40% more than your independent. It's now a Stoneacre Mazda... so good luck you japs.

      Many many people will say ‘as long as it meets the spec, it’s fine’. Yes it is fine but it’s the extra agents that they add in their product that’s important.
      You’ll notice a difference between TQX and Shell/Castrol when it comes to longevity, how clean the engine is and how well it can take a beating when using the car in a spirited manner.
      Avoid cheap oil when possible and use what’s recommended for your vehicle (what’s printed under the bonnet). If unsure, use Castrol or Shell

    I have been working on my own cars for over 30 years. Over the years, I have wasted so much time with poor quality parts that don't even make a year before failure. It is very hard to work out what brands are junk and what brands are OK.
    What worries me is the parts factors only seem to have the cheap ones in stock, so the trade must be fitting junk to many cars in the hope the car gets sold before the part fails.

    Main dealers use "equivalent oil" which can be cheap. I found out a Hyundai dealer over filled my I30N engine with cheap oil when servicing it even though it had a sticker in the engine bay stating Shell Helix. I had to remove the over filled oil at home which was about 3/4 litre over filed by siphoning out of the dip stick tube. Hyundai UK arranged for another dealership to do another oil change using Shell Helix which I insisted on watching them do. Next service was carried out at the second dealership and I checked the car before driving it away. NEVER trust a main dealer always check your car after a service and get a second opinion from an independent garage when you are told " your brake discs and pads are worn " as main dealers don't explain that brakes do wear but have limits when they need replacing.

    I wanted to comment on the non payer for diagnostic but it wouldn’t let me. Maybe when you go for a diagnostic to a new customer, you get the initial call out fee straight away, then once you’ve spent your time and expertise finding the problem, they pay you your diagnostic fee to get your findings. 😉

    You should have removed the oil filter while oil draining as it holds old oil

    • @themarvelousvlog
      @themarvelousvlog  Год назад +1

      I was fully aware of this. Car has not been started for a whole day. Filter is also pointing down which means all oil will have to go down. You can see on the video that the oil filter element is dry as anything, same goes for the housing.
      Thank you for the advice though. I’ll make sure to keep this in mind 🫡

      @98045 Год назад

      You won't get better than MANN filters. They are fitted to most vehicles from the factory and are built to oe standards. Usually see vw audi group badge next to the MANN one.

    • @classicrestouk
      @classicrestouk Год назад +1

      @@98045 I disagree. Yes some are fitted from factory, however when you compare OEM to these parts from ECP, you will realise the difference. When I was doing mobile mechanic work like this lad (going back to 2016) I tried them all and then settled on Mahle for a while when I couldn't get dealer parts. One thing for sure, I would t buy from ECP again after how many times the incorrect parts were handed to me, wasting my callouts on numerous occasions.

    For years I used supermarket oils and never had any engine issues on diesel or petrol vehicles.
    However, the after obtaining a renault scenic diesel i switched to shell helix and within a few months the turbo failed. Once the turbo was repaired and all pipes were cleaned i fitted a clean oil filter and filled up with fresh Shell helix. Within 40 miles the big ends failed! I'm sure it was just coincidence.
    Now use Mannol as recommend by a mechanic friend.

The middle ground has been filled up with cheap shite at higher prices, it's a minefield that's hardly worth the hassle. Fit proper parts or expect it to fail is my motto now, I refuse jobs where people ask me to fit amazon or evil bay china copies.
