  • In Part 2, I take the Advance Boundless Reversible Harness on its first flight. The bottom line is that the harness is easy to adjust and very comfortable to fly, The take off and landings are very straightforward and the seat board does not get in the way. The weight shift authority is VERY nice and significantly better than the Progress 3 IMHO. There is also more feel from the wing but nothing to make me nervous.
A few days after this flight at Torrey I had a fantastic thermalling day at Little Black and the increased weight shift authority was a welcome addition to my flying. I really loved it in the thermals and the added feel from the harness was also appreciated.
All in all I am very pleased that I took a chance on this harness.
The Progress 3 is still a very nice harness but for me I like the features that the new Boundless harness offers.
You can see my full on-the-ground review of the harness in Part 1.
    Thanks!

Thanks so much...I do like the seat board for better weight shifting. Would love to meet both of you personally if you do visit. Perhaps I'll even make it to your area one day. Best wishes!

Tell us about ground handling next time Lou! Two downsides to traditional seatboard harnesses would be painful private parts and that seatboard banging around on your knees. Some harnesses don't even let you stand up properly. I got a split leg lightweight harness basically just for ground handling because I've got a pod harness for the main one and it's terrible for tripping me up and generally hard to be on the ground with. Nice while flying though.

I also got a split leg (Progress 2) harness way back when because my first seat board harness many years ago was hard to launch and land and the seat board would annoyingly bang the back of my legs. But I also find that the split leg harness (my Easiness 3 and to a lesser extent the Progress 3) will also dig in between the legs while kiting in heavier winds. They are fine in light to moderate winds. My reason for trying this harness was based one a review by Flybubble out of the UK on the Advance Success 5 and they commented on the significant comfort of the seat board while walking around, launching and landing (and how nice it was to weight shift). The Boundless is a lighter and less padded version of this and right off the bat I could tell it was much more comfortable than my older seat board harness. I did discuss this in Part 1 of the harness review and this harness does not bang me at the back of the legs (if adjusted correctly). The Boundless also has two bungee straps that can attach to the leg straps on each side keeping them apart for doing such things as kiting as well as touch and goes (like at Torrey) (see Part 1 for this). I have not tried this yet while kiting but I will do that and perhaps publish a short video on how effective it is. I have kited with this harness and it is very comfortable but it has only been in mildly moderate winds. Thanks for your comments and happy flying.

@@loums52 Nice thanks Lou! I forgot you did a part one lol. I did watch it. And thanks for your videos - I'm an old guy (65) flying since the 80s and appreciate seeing that relaxed way of approaching the sport.

I don't know your resources there but you can get a wing shipped from the UK through Flybubble who ship worldwide. Do you have any instructors in your area? That would be your best resource for first taking lessons and then selecting the appropriate wing. Good luck and thanks for watching.
