    I’m so glad you’re loving Just Kids! One of my favourites. I adore the audiobook, Patti reads it so well in her accent. You have to hear the way she says Robert’s name it’s so sweet. 💜

  • @kawaiiwitchbaby
    @kawaiiwitchbaby 3 года назад

    I read Just Kids a couple years ago (on audiobook). It took me over a year to finish it not because I didn't like it but I had to be in the mood to read it. I had heard of Patti Smith but never grew up listening to her music or anything I mainly read it because I knew about Robert Mapplethorpe and his photography. I loved the part in the book about when Patti meets him the first time but again later when he rescues her from a bad date. If you've ever lost someone getting to the end of the book was very sad but comforting as she says goodbye to her best friend.
    I just finished reading The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo which not so strangely had a very similar friendship like Patti and Robert featured in the book and Just Kids was on my mind while reading it.

    One book at a time is pleasant. I routinely have 2 or 3 and find it disagreeable..
    I actually dnf the butterfly lampshade a while ago. I was reluctant to, as I am still not clear on why it wasn't clicking for me personally. I hope you'll talk more about it (and the other two) when you finish. I'm reading an Ogawa book called the housekeeper and the professor, which is about a friendship where one person forgets every few hours, and an Ottessa Moshfegh short story book called homesick for another world which is a bit edgy, but the writing is often good/funny so I'll stick through. I just finished territory of light which I liked. I'll definitely get the Copenhagen trilogy.
    I'm late to say how nice and appreciated your videos are - thank you so much! You're a blessing.

    hey Mauve! Thank you for sharing. I read Just Kids for the first time back in 2014, and I loved it. Just like you said, on a line level it is just so beautiful. It is Patti's best work, for sure.
