Days of Our Lives and General Hospital fans have been left devastated by the untimely passing of Tyler Christopher, known for his roles as Stefan DiMera and Nikolas Cassadine respectively.
Tyler shares his history of health crises and openly spoke about his struggles with alcohol addiction and bipolar depression. He lost his struggle on October 31st, 2023.
New info came out from Tyler Christopher's last conversations at a fan event where he shared his struggles and detailed the four other times he nearly died while battling for sobriety.

Hi Belinda, thank you for your update on Tyler Christopher. I lost my uncle and younger brother both to alcoholism. So many people are struggling with eirher alcohol and/or drugs along with mental health issues. RIP Tyler Christopher
My dad's a recovering alcoholic and my uncle died of liver disease for same reason. It was so hard as a kid to deal with it, visiting dad in rehab. Then, when he got 100% sober, he walked out on us and adopted a whole new family. It's just rough even now thinking about it. I'm glad Tyler wanted so much to be with his children and hate that he lost his battle.
Tyler was the best. Rest in peace..
Thank you Belinda for doing such a heartfelt tribute to all the actors we have lost this year. Tyler was the best Nicholas. Like Billy Miller, I was always hoping he would come back to G.H. Did Tyler pass from a heart attack? I am just sad. I hope Tyler and Billy can comfort each other and know that they were loved.
Maurce Benard said it was a cardiac event. He's with the angels now. Try to watch the episode Maurice Benard has him on, State of Mind. His story is so horrible, I had to stop it many times.

Addiction is so hard. When you see that people like Tyler and Matthew Perry with resources can’t overcome it, it shows how gut wrenchingly hard it is to live with.

I've heard him refer to it a couple of different ways - bipolar disorder, depression and mania. I went with one rather than all three.

I understand what he was going thru. Lost my brother to alcohol at 36years. I suspect he too started at the young age. I also suspect he had undiagnosed bipolar disease. Rest easy Christopher.

Natalia Livingston, who played Emily, had a beautiful tribute on her facebook and instagram. She is married now but they dated in real life for a few years. You can tell she is heartbroken.

4th tragic death mourned on General Hospital. Sonya Eddy, Epiphany, from General Hospital, we also lost her in 2022.
There must be more to this story if he began drinking at 9 years old. Like, what was happening during his childhood? Where were his parents during this time? Were they not paying attention?? This seems to be a running theme with people. They have no emotional support system, which is so vital. I feel so strongly he could have been helped if good intervention had happened much, much sooner...

So sad! Alcohol and drug addiction are such insidious diseases. I only watch Days and I was upset when Tyler was recast (initially, I didn't like Brandon Barash in the role, but he has grown on me). I thought Tyler played the role of Stefan extremely well and fit well in the role. 😢😢
