- What a LIFE CHANGING day this was not just for those affected by the horrible earthquakes in Mindanao... but for everyone involved.
First of all, I'd like to emphasize this was a WE. So many amazing volunteers and donators were involved from various parts of the Philippines. THANK YOU.
After five days, we assessed, connected with, and were able to help a community become more secure in their evacuation site. Here is what we provided:
- We built a giant community shelter constructed out of bamboo and various materials. Literally, the roof used to be a massive billboard in Manila.
- We built and constructed two Comfort Rooms with drainage and full concreting.
- We provided 35 families (roughly 150 people) with bug nets, blankets, cleaning materials, and hygiene containers/tabo.
- We cooked a massive boodle-fight of delicious local Filipino foods (escabeche, humba, fried tilapia, mussels, chicken, and rice.)
- We provided sports/game equipment for the community (volleyballs, basketballs, badminton sets, jump ropes etc...).
- We fitted a water filtration system to help clean their local water source.
- We provided 60 pairs of shoes, and 100 pairs of tsinelas for kids in this community and various areas around it.
- We played games, shared moments of fun, and had way to many "Filipino Humor" moments.
- We ran a program for kids.
- We had a mini birthday party, complete with cupcakes, and a cake for a local girl.
There are way too many people to thank. Everyone who volunteered their time, and all those out there in the field helping right now... YOU ARE INSPIRATIONS.
I'd also like to emphasize that everything you are reading about was done with help from those affected by these earthquakes. The local community helped set up and cook the boodle fight, helped chop and fit bamboo for the shelter, and helped dig and construct the comfort rooms... WE SPENT THE WHOLE DAY HERE AND IT WAS SUCH AN UPLIFTING EXPERIENCE!
Before doing any of this, we visited the community many times, trying to better understand their needs. All relief is amazing and needed, no doubt about that! But it can be really affective to take it slow, plan, discuss with those affected, and get the community involved.
Once again... THANK YOU SO MUCH EVERYONE FOR BEING A PART OF THIS!

I'm in Montana, I started to watch your videos about three months ago. You show me the Filipino life, I am married to a Filipino woman, we have a house in lika m'lang. Her family is watching over the place. We plan to go to the Philippines next year. I know you are a Christian by your love.
It is great work he does and nice that you appreciate it. The love he shows may have nothing to do with his religion. Many people without religion have a lot of love any many with religion do not.
@@kramsenoj1 The Hungry Syrian made a video where he surprised people and paid their grocery bills in the Philippines. One woman told him he must be a Christian. He said religion got nothing to do with good deeds. He's probably Muslim coming from that part of the world. Where I'm from there are some people who claim to be Christian but they are some of the meanest people.

@@kramsenoj1 I have a Filipina friend who worked a few months for three nuns who run a Catholic school in the Philippines before she went abroad to work OFW. She said they were some of the meanest people you could ever meet. Before they gave her the job they swore her to secrecy that whatever she sees inside the resident quarters she will not tell. She said they ate some of the best food. Never in need of anything. But they were very condescending. The Catholic church is the biggest landowner in the Philippines. King Felipe of Spain basically turned over what is now the Philippines to the Catholic church. They own a lot of land given to them by the king of Spain. They encourage their congregation to be patient and that poverty is one of the burdens of life but their reward awaits them in heaven. Meanwhile they are against contraception. See nothing wrong with overpopulation where people can't feed the many kids they have. Since then she switched religions to a Christ the Redeemer church. I was there this past September I barely got off the plane and I was invited to their satellite church. They read from the bible. They meet every Wednesdays where someone would cook or bring some food where about 15 members would meet. I sent them one of the Starbucks ground coffee. Wow they were so happy to taste that. One by one they came on cam to thank me. A small deed can go a long way in the Philippines.

For Kulas Charity work at least we can see where the funds is being spent. The billions of pesos that were lost for Marawi and Yolanda just disappeared and the so called homes being bulit until now has not been completed. So people in those areas don’t trust the government and you cant blame them.

Your time and effort are highly appreciated and it goes without saying you are all wonderful and selfless human being coming together to make a difference in everyone's lives.
