You mentioned that FE: Three Houses was a banger this year, but let me tell you: Aside from 3H, 2019 has been a pretty great year for Fire Emblem for newcomers and retro enthusiasts alike. Something regarding 3H to get it out of the way: The first great FE main game leak ever was that year in the form of the ThaniBomb leak. I only was truly hyped at the trailers because they confirmed that leak. Second: The impossible happened. A team of people managed to release a complete translation patch for Thracia 776, Project Exile! Thanks to them, we can finally experience this game in it's full glory in English. Also, news for the Kaga Saga games (Kaga was the original creator of FE): Vestaria Saga 1 is the first Kaga Saga game to be released in the west! Nobody expected to ever see something like this happening. Quite the blessing indeed. And I heard Berwick Sagas translation patch is closing in on completion too. Tl;dr This was not only a year of massive success, but also of sheer impossible happenings for the FE community. Edit: typos
Good comment! Good year!! Glad you mentioned the Thanibomb leak in particular. I'm sure the 3H trailer shown at the E3 Direct was a snoozer for most of the folks in the audience, but what the Banjo or BotW2 reveals did for them, *CLAUDE SIDEBURNS CONFIRMED* did for me. It's a fascinating example of a leak that not only turned out to be correct, but was handled beautifully and done with fans in mind, to help ease us into what ended up being a return to form for the series.
@@RisingSunfish Honestly, I actually forgot some stuff that I should have mentioned (such as Path of the Midnight Sun). The Timeskip trailer was strong on it's own, but the leak truly elavated it to another level, and didn't take away from the announcement. I truly must applaud ThaniBomb for the way they handled the leak in the AMA they held. While I personally am not too satisfied with the game myself, I appreciate that it tried something quite new. I am glad that you like my comment and I wish that FE prospers even further in the future.

I kinda miss having like nine playable games on the nintendo eshop including zelda and kamiko. Can't wait for pikumin 4 and Mario sunshine 2 to be unveiled during this january nintendo direct ! You are very funny
Hey Arlo. The end of my year hasn't been great and it's nice to have some of your videos to watch. Thanks for being exactly the kind of content that makes things feel better
Yeah, we need a sequel that’s completely and utterly original with no repetition, but also sticks religiously to the lore. In fact, the sequel has to exactly match every single 2019 fan’s individual and specific expectations, otherwise it will endure a fiery “Trial by Twitter” with bonus death threats.
I dont get why people love this so much. When K. Rool got added to smash 4 as a Mii Costume instead of a regular character, everyone was mad as hell. When Rex from XC2 got added as a Mii Costume instead of a regular character, everyone was disappointed. Why do people hype up a Mii Costume of Sans so much?
@@IAmNotASandwich453 Sans was just a meme that wasn't really expected to get into the game, but the other two characters were ones that people wanted to actually play as, with their own movesets and such. That's why I think that happened, can't speak for everyone though. (Plus, out of the three, Sans is from a new game, but the other ones are in games that already have characters in Smash, so that could've contributed to people's expectations for them.)
2019 was my first year with nintendo related stuff. its the first year i ever knew about nintendo made things except mario and pokemon, and had so much fun in every game i bought. it was my first year, and i got in so much, nintendo took half of my youtube recommendations lol. and also, the sans mii reveal WAS AND IS the best moment.
Arlo- You are my favorite RUclipsr, not just because I’m a huge fan of the muppets, and not just because you are funny, but because you keep it real. All of your videos keep things in real perspective and talk about issues that no one else does. Thanks for your care and effort. About Super Mario Maker 2- I think that the reason it didn’t blow up was because it was released the beginning of the 2019 “feast”. Too many amazing games came out afterwards and everyone kind of forgot about it. If it would’ve come out in January 2019 during the “famine”, I think it would’ve exploded. That’s why it was so successful on the Wii U; it was the first quality game amidst a drought. Makers and players had MUCH more time to get creative and competitive. A game like Super Mario Maker feeds on healthy competition. Healthy competition requires a lot of space and time.
I bought 2 Nintendo games in 2019, Three Houses and Ring Fit Adventure. Loved the former to pieces and still haven't finished all the routes, having a surprisingly fun time with the latter and I think it does its job fairly well.
Nintendo in 2019 amounted to Fire Emblem and Fire Emblem alone for me. Once it launched, the first half of the year became a haze and the rest of the year was just me being consumed by it.
2019 was the year that I learned that I enjoy playing single player games in a group more than I like playing multiplayer games in a group. My games of the year are: Resident Evil 2, Fire Emblem: 3 Houses, Baba Is You, Untitled Goose Game, and Observation. Play any (or all) of these with a small audience and enjoy the frights, delights, and head scratching of real time puzzle solving.
Arlo I don’t know where you came from but you are completely filling this niche for me. I’ve been binging your videos nonstop. Don’t quit doing whatever you’re doing
Nintendo related moment was definitely E3 and Three Houses was their best game this year. Had a great time arguing which house was the best one with my friends.
I understand your confusion. It’s not happening don’t get your hopes up. It’s probably just going to be another fucking RPG character again most likely another Fire Emblem character cuz if they do that they don’t have to try
For some reason these reviews you do just get me so passionate about all things Nintendo. Is it the energy? Is it the very evident love whilst spouting every word? Is it the goofy Muppet-esque character? I dunno, but I love it, it just makes me appreciate Nintendo more
My favorite part of 2019 was when Kirby's Epic Yarn was ported to the 3ds not because if the gameplay, but because it was my childhood and it made me happy to see that Nintendo still cared for the game. That and the music is amazing and portable now. :)
Dude, I don't even play Nintendo games (I don't do consoles beyond PS2), but yet I watched one video of yours (can't remember which) and have been subscribed ever since. I have been going through your old ones here and there, watching all of your new ones, and I swear I know more about Nintendo, and I enjoy what you show us, all because of how you present it, and the pleasantness of your voice (I guess you can chalk it all up to Sesame Street and The Muppets colouring some level of my youth). Keep on keeping on, and I'll keep on watching.
I hope that when Arlo talks about being sick, having his family in the house, and recording in a car, everyone is picturing the blue guy doing all those things
My favorite was Link's Awakening because it was my first Zelda and the first game I finished on my own. Thanks for your amazing content, I will always consider you one of the best and most positive influences on gaming RUclips. Keep it up!
2019 was a pretty good year all around for me. I mean, a Zelda remake, news of a Breath of the Wild sequel, a new Pokemon game, Luigi's Mansion 3, Astral Chain. Plenty of great ports and Smash characters, but the biggest and best for me personally was Fire Emblem Three Houses. Despite the odd release schedule and overblown controversies for some of the games, this year was pretty darn great. I'm actually kind of hoping Nintendo takes it a little easy in 2020 so my wallet can recover.
Regardless of having different opinions of you this when it came to Pokémon I will say it has been a blast getting to see ya these last two years. I hope this next decade will be fun for you and you can keep being the best blue muppet ever
I was SO EXCITED by the BOTW2 announcement. I literally gasped out loud. I also really loved Link’s Awakening, it wasn’t perfect, but it was my first time playing that title and I was just happy to have a new Zelda game. Pokémon was fun for me... lots of issues, but still fun. Happy New Year, Arlo!
I think my favourite moment of 2019 was Christmas. Getting Fire Emblem Three Houses made my year but at the time I didn’t know it. I’ve never had a game suck me into playing it for hours upon hours. Now, I’m always thinking of what I’m going to do differently on my next play through or what class I’m going to make my characters. Definitely a great game and I recommend it to people who love turn based RPGs and amazing strategic gameplay.
I also love the Game. Consider to give Fire Emblem 3 Houses a try. Besides of Luigis Mansion 3 it was the only game which I loved more this year. My favorite Game of this year
My personal Nintendo high of 2019 is that I *finally* got a Switch, weeks before Christmas. It's been a long drought, since I skipped the Wii U entirely. I feel like a kid in a candy store. Every exclusive Switch game is new to me. So much first-party goodness awaits.
You forgot to mention how Untitled goose game almost completely overshadowed the Zelda game honestly. Sure it sold a lot but even my mom wanted to play as the goose and she hardly plays games.
Honestly I pretty much completely stopped playing and caring about Nintendo games for the most part, yet I still watch Arlo... Great video btw as always
These are some of my favorite videos you make. I love you and your channel. Keep up the wonderful videos. PS I know how you feel. I get ear infections all the time. Hope your felling better!
2019 was hard for me to rate, for the second year in a row I am now more of a Nintendo gamer than PC gamer but I wasn’t really excited about any of the games I played, sure they were mostly all good, but compared to the Switches first year they felt like a let down and now Metroid is still years away so I’ve got nothing on the horizon I’m really excited for. Guess I’ll keep playing Stardew Valley and other indie games I enjoy playing portably. On a more positive note the games I enjoyed this year were: Astral Chain, Bloodstained, Fire Emblem 3 houses, Links Awakening and playing Smash Bro’s every other day and developing gamers thumbs. Wants for 2020 are Xenoblade X port, 1080/Waverace/Pilot Wings game
I was 20 years old when I saw the reveal for Breath of the Wild 2. And I SPRINTED around my house squealing like a manic child for a good ten minutes. Easily my best 2019 moment in gaming. I can only hope 2020 gives me even a fraction of that childlike wonder and excitement.

Tl;dr
This was not only a year of massive success, but also of sheer impossible happenings for the FE community.

I agree about you on the game's release schedule this year.

My Nintendo 2019 in a nutshell?
First half: Waiting for Super Mario Maker 2
Second half: Playing Super Mario Maker 2
Thanks for the year, Arlo. There are times in my life where things feel overwhelming. Creators like you make me feel less alone.
If people liked 2019 so much, why isn’t there a 2019 2?
Yeah, we need a sequel that’s completely and utterly original with no repetition, but also sticks religiously to the lore. In fact, the sequel has to exactly match every single 2019 fan’s individual and specific expectations, otherwise it will endure a fiery “Trial by Twitter” with bonus death threats.
Now you’re speakin’ my language!
There was gonna be a sequel, but they decided to do some stupid reboot instead...
I heard it's coming out in 18,173 years
there is i heard its coming out next year
Three House really made me so happy this year!
Dude, I can’t wait for the day when I open my subscription box and see a GameXplain video titled “NINTENDO DIRECT ANNOUNCED FOR TOMORROW!”
Hopefully soon

It’s January 1st and there’s no Nintendo direct so far this year, I’m disappointed
We didn’t get one until the end of March lol and it was a mini.

There's something so funny about Arlo calling out 2019 as the direct drought year
2019 was my first year with nintendo related stuff. its the first year i ever knew about nintendo made things except mario and pokemon, and had so much fun in every game i bought. it was my first year, and i got in so much, nintendo took half of my youtube recommendations lol. and also, the sans mii reveal WAS AND IS the best moment.
Just passing by to recommend Fire Emblem 3 houses
Sorry you're sick, Arlo. Thank you for always working hard on your videos. Your love shows in every video. Happy New Year!

Arlo I just wanted to say I appreciate your unique and fun filled videos. As far as you being sick. I'm very sorry. I hope you heal soon
Nintendo related moment was definitely E3 and Three Houses was their best game this year. Had a great time arguing which house was the best one with my friends.
I love the puppet aesthetic you have and your voice is somewhat comforting to listen to. Definitely subbing.
I live in Florida, I'm 25, and I can say with confidence,
I have still never once seen snow. I'm almost convinced it's a myth at this point.
There has to be a direct January or February cause they still have to announce the last smash character.
I’m calling Steve from Minecraft
Interestingly enough, if you check the eShop it says the final DLC character is estimated to arrive in late February if I’m not mistaken.

What made my 2019 in general was seeing Godzilla: King of the Monsters, and then E3 being a week later revealing Banjo-Kazooie for Smash.
I just wanted to say, thanks for all the great videos Arlo! You’re my favorite video game RUclipsr.
The real 2019 was the Arlos we made along the way.
Oh, you haven't uploaded since the last decade! So good to have you back man.
Discovering Fire Emblem Three Houses was the highlight of my Nintendo year. The game play was pretty awesome and the story had me hooked throughout.

Yes an arlo video before my birthday thanks for the upload. And sorry about your holidays arlo. Hope you get better soon!
When the biggest Nintendo disappointment of 2019 was Pokémon Sword/Shield (which still sold really well), you know they had a pretty damn good year.
Amen
Best selling game of the year, actually! 👍
Professor Pro They were referring to my “which still sold really well” comment.
True
@Wolf17 sadly true. Not trying to shame those who bought the game. But it sucks the company has zero reason to get their morals in check.
My favorite was Link's Awakening because it was my first Zelda and the first game I finished on my own.
Thanks for your amazing content, I will always consider you one of the best and most positive influences on gaming RUclips. Keep it up!
"Snack on some leftover Christmas tacos."
Ah yes, I'll go get those now.
Feel better Arlo. I was sick too. I feel for you buddy. Keep up the great work.
6:08 pure gold
I was SO EXCITED by the BOTW2 announcement. I literally gasped out loud. I also really loved Link’s Awakening, it wasn’t perfect, but it was my first time playing that title and I was just happy to have a new Zelda game. Pokémon was fun for me... lots of issues, but still fun. Happy New Year, Arlo!
Man remember when we thought 3 directs in one year was a drought?
Awesome video, as usual! Love the choice of music during the Link's Awakening and Pokemon Sw/Sh part, cadence of hyrule is awesome!

My favorite game of 2019 was Super Mario Maker 2! I wasn't expecting the hype to die down so quickly, but it's still the biggest highlight for me 😄
I agree. I still have yet to complete Luigi's Mansion 3 cause I keep coming back to Mario Maker 2.
I also love the Game. Consider to give Fire Emblem 3 Houses a try. Besides of Luigis Mansion 3 it was the only game which I loved more this year. My favorite Game of this year
Thank you for your work on your videos and I hope you feel better!
*S A N S I N S M A S H* Also not necessarily Nintendo related, but it was nice to see so many creators acknowledge Etika. It was very touching.
JGames Geno sans didn’t get in smash tho, it was a mii costume
*Everyone in 2020:* Omg did he just say the year 2019??
I was a Nintendo fan during 2016. So I'm grateful for any year with at least 2 solid games I'm excited to buy and play lol
