I just Rented a ZFc for fun and surprised on how small and light weight it is. It seems really fun to use and actually a bit inspiring. Was concerned about using that front dial but it was just fine. One handed grip not the best but that's to be expected. I've gone away from crop sensor bodies (having shot them forever) after recently getting a Z6 but at this weight/size/fun I think I'm going to get one lol...and a Z30.

Been looking at the Zf and especially for vintage glass and manual focus confirmation green box. They say its a game changer, and color look great and low light at 24megapixels is very good. Might be my next one.
the Zf is sweet Nice sensor, good AF, imo good retro design. IMO the problem with your line of thought is the vintage glass part. Technically it works fine, the advantages of mirrorless full frame, but even face detection helps. However the retro looks do get a hit with the adapters. Even if you have an adapter that is a little more suited to the retro styling you still end up with a ”extension tube” look. Also there is no indexing with your native F glass. Of course if you don’t care about that the vintage glass is nice, but it is not that much better if better at all, than the majority of other full frame mirrorless cameras with similar or superior technical specs. I really love my Zf, with Nikon FTZ2, Fringer EF to Z, and K&F F, PK and m42 adapters (the F toZ looks better with vintage F mount glass and I lose no functionality - unless I want to use chipped Voigtlander F mount lenses).
I prefer the Sirius but that may just be because of the focal length. I think that the difference is sharpness may be partially due to the amount you are filling the frame. I always find the contrast is always a little stronger on longer lenses giving the appearance of sharpness.
@@tech-utuber2219 Yeah but after using the Action 4 (always out of focus) and the Z30 (anti-stabe and anti-focus) it's time to realise that a gimbal is a vlogger's best friend.

I have a lumix g9 with 15 1.7 leica ,12-35 2.8 and 45 1.8 lens . Would a r8 or a6700 be an upgrade on image quality for video on day and lowlight pare with prime lens
R8 probably would be a large upgrade in both of those but the glass is very expensive because there is really no third party unless you use ef lenses which is an option. A6700 I believe has better video specs and has a larger buffer as well as third party glass that is exceptional. Although the a6700 with it being apsc would likely have only a small increase in low light unless you use 1.4 or 1.2 primes apsc from sigma or Viltrox which are both really good. You likely won’t get as much improvement in image quality as you think though if you are doing wild life. A used z7 may be better for landscape because of the high megapixel count. You may want to comment under your comment or edit yours stating what you photograph regularly.
How do you get that jacket off in an emergency? I can see maybe one belt wrapped around your neck but 2? What if an errant school bus driver clipped you when you are in slomo mode running across the street and you got snagged on the drivers side mirror...would the driver even see you at 240 fps?
I like the Viltrox 27mm bokeh. Unfortunately, Sirui 23mm not so many shots. The Shots you showed at the very end - not in focus - are they Sirui? - Maybe autofocus with Sirui ist worse?
F1.2 is the aperture. F1.2 is considered very very fast aperture with it allowing in lots of light. However for good or bad it also has a very low depth of field (in focus area). F16 is a very slow aperture allowing low amounts of light in. However again for good or bad it has a very large depth of field so your subject and background may both be in focus. That’s the basics.
Hello Kasey, I'm new to videography, I've got an xt5 and I'm shooting video, especially in 4k, but the files played on PC look really crap and choppy, played in WMP, VLC or Lightroom. My pixel phone videos looks much better. Do I need to convert the files or what can I do? The videos look good on camera, and my PC is oldish, but I think an 8700k and 1080ti should handle the files. I just want sooc video, but atm the videos are frustrating to watch, any help would be appreciated
I also have an X-T5. Taking at 4K 60fps is your friend - it is really smooth and nice. It took me 6 months to work that out. So I do 4K 60fps in daylight, and at night 4K 30fps - but I adjust my style to compensate. Don't go anywhere near 4K HQ or 6.2K unless you are on a tripod - it gets mega choppy then!
@@colinhoward2200I do shoot 4k60 mostly, and in camera looks smooth. But as soon as I play it on my pc, looks choppy and laggy compared with how videos on youtube look. Done it at 1/120th and full auto SS, it doesn't make any difference
I watched a bunch of Z30 review videos on different channels. I dunno...image wise it just doesn't do it for me. Just because the focus is softer than a kitten's bum, doesn't mean that the image is cinematic.
Nice looking lenses, just a bit big. And slow on focusing. But not a deal breaker. I like those ranges best and it'll let in a lot of light. I hear bluetooth frequencies take us to a high plane of existence where we'll meet the Sony X4000. 📽👽

My Fujifilm died recently so I was doing some rental comparisons the Z30, R8, X-S20 were on my list. Here's some rankings best to worst: | Auto focus speed & reliability R8, Z30, X-S20 | Stabilisation R8, X-S20, Z30 - X-S20 is the only one with IBIS but it's not very good. Canon with OIS + DIS is better. | Size & weight Z30, R8 + X-S20 - somehow they're the same | Natural Colours R8, Z30, X-S20 | Colour gimmicks X-S20, R8, Z30 | JPEG customization options R8, X-S20 + Z30 - they have the same amount of customization | Battery life X-S20, Z30, R8 | Lens options X-S20, R8, Z30 | Price overall Z30, R8 + X-S20 - my particular R8 kit was a little bit cheaper than the same from Fujifilm. Z30 is half the price of both. The X-S20 was noticeably worse with autofocus because I can't see an improvement over my X-T2. The stabilisation is very whatever, it has a better battery though. I don't really like that you can only do gimmicky colours with Fujifilm jpeg, there's no true natural profile so you might be fighting their colours in many scenes. Most of the nice bright lenses are heavy and expensive, and still don't offer much more than the same cheap lenses from Canon - I'd rather have the RF 35f1.8 than the XF 33f1.4 the difference is so negligible for half the cost. The body is also too big for an aps-c camera. Fujifilm need to reduce their size already. Size and weight is super important. No use having a camera you leave at home because it's too bulky, heavy, awkward to carry, or conspicuous. Z30 with the 24f1.7 would be my choice if I didn't have a Ricoh GRIII. Small, half the price, good AF, great look with minimal commitment.
@@-grey I agree with every point that you made. I bought X-S20 but had to send it back due to broken LCD. Second X-S20 had no working ISO button and I was like wtf is going on with quality control. Then I found great discount for Canon R8 + 35 f1.8 and gave it a chance. No coming back to Fuji for sure. X-S20 could miss focus on my kid laying on the carpet with no movement which is a joke in 2023 and fanboys are still telling this crap that now it's almost Sony level. Even Z6 II that I tested gave me better hit rate on the eye. With Canon I hit almost every shot even if my kids are running full speed. Colors from Canon are perfect which was a shock for me. I loved Fuji colours and thought that with any other brand I would need to post process more. X-S20 + 33 f1.4 is basically the same size as R8 + 35 f1.8 but Canon weights less and handles much better. Another shock was that Canon setup gave me sharper results and nice addition of semi-macro. XF 33 f1.4 on paper is superior lens but seems that X-Trans is still shit even with DxO Photolab. Just like you said R8 with IS lens and electronic stabe is better than Fujis jerky IBIS. Better lowlight and dynamic range with Canon. Although specs for LCD and viewfinders are the same I found Canon to be better as well. Touch screen in menu is a great option and EVF was much more fluid and better especially in low light compared to Fujis EVF. I got Canon setup much cheaper than Fuji which is hilarious. I was aiming at Sony A7C II for ultimate small package when prices go little bit down but now with R8 I am not so sure anymore. Colors, ergonomics, better LCD are all strong points for me.
Fooj has lost its way since they are leaning toward videography. I'll stay with my xt3. Gonna replace it with Nikon zf or whatever retro looking ff camera and some used cheap XT when it's dead. At least somebody is making x mount to z mount adapter so I can use my old lens.
@@trym2121 True. If I was after retro design then I would go for Zf for sure even though its size and weight are too much for me. Much better camera and much better made than latest X-T5 from Fuji.
@@MrRafalEn I thought about the a7CII for a while, but the the price was almost double the Canon and Fujifilm. Would have been cool though, that camera with the 35f2.8 is the same size as the X100V, which is crazy to think about. In terms of AF I'd rank best to worst: Sony, Canon, Panasonic PDAF, Nikon, Fujifilm, Leica Q, Panasonic CDAF. The jumps from brand to brand are sometimes huge, and sometimes negligible. Sony is far out in front, and Nikon is noticeably better than Fujifilm. Fujifilm is reasonably better than Leica AF, but about the same or very mildly worse than my Ricoh GRIII. I certainly wouldn't classify my 8 years with Fujifilm as having reliable AF either.
I bought the Paniboy S5II (don't blame me, I bought it before the G9II was released). Now I wonder if I buy the G9II body can I use the lenses for my S5II on that body? They are the 18mm, 24mm, 35mm, 50mm, 85mm lumix s f1.8 set of primes, the lumix s 20-60mm kit lens, the 24-105mm f4 lumix s and the 70-300mm f 4.5-6.3 lumix s. I can't find any answers if these full frame lenses will work, will look at all decent or are useless on an MFT body.
I got one when he made a video a about how it’s not a good idea and Nikon is not innovating😂 But I like how he doesn’t push the narrative and has a refreshing take on gear. I would be really looking forward to what he says about Zf if he gets one to play.
Only those who think of vlogging with a blackmagic camera can be called a moron (regardless of the position and orientation of the monitor). Big and heavy, no autofocus, short battery life, huge files, come on. It's a fantastic budget camera for beginner filmmakers, not vloggers.
Hi Kasey, now that you have rediscovered Nikon would you not want to see if the lens recommendations of that other independent mind, the angry photographer, many for Nikon glass, still are valid? what is thee best action cam? for snorkelling, wildnerness walks, other non-vlogging stuff.
DJI action 4
Rugged and waterproof = OM SYSTEM TG-7 see Thomas Eisl Photography's review.
Casey has become the very thing he swore to destroy: a photographer. Welcome to the Toneh World Casey.
So.. which Zeiss has the best 3d pop you think?
How do you get that jacket off in an emergency? I can see maybe one belt wrapped around your neck but 2? What if an errant school bus driver clipped you when you are in slomo mode running across the street and you got snagged on the drivers side mirror...would the driver even see you at 240 fps?
14:07 TOP GUN
Nikon auto exposure fluctuates whenever your hand got into the frame.
I like the Viltrox 27mm bokeh. Unfortunately, Sirui 23mm not so many shots. The Shots you showed at the very end - not in focus - are they Sirui? - Maybe autofocus with Sirui ist worse?
He's on the Viltrox filming and says 'this one's pretty good' so likely he was using the 27mm when he took those photos at the end. Just by syntax.
We need more Camera Conspiracies street photography.
What's f/1.2? I only know the basic principles of photography: aperture, lens hood, and Tonéh. Learned from you no less.
The Viltrox is night and day better and the bokeh is butter!
Are you using the 180 degree rule (aka shutter speed = 1/(2xframe rate)? So when you are shooting 4k30 you should try a shutter speed of 1/60
@@romanpul I tried various things, including 180 rule, full auto, you name it
I also have an X-T5.
Which codec are you using? If you are using h.265 those files are horrid to play back ”as is” in windows, try changing to h.264.
The nikon A7 mk4 was priceless
I watched a bunch of Z30 review videos on different channels. I dunno...image wise it just doesn't do it for me. Just because the focus is softer than a kitten's bum, doesn't mean that the image is cinematic.
Nice looking lenses, just a bit big. And slow on focusing. But not a deal breaker. I like those ranges best and it'll let in a lot of light. I hear bluetooth frequencies take us to a high plane of existence where we'll meet the Sony X4000. 📽👽
The Nikon a7s IV 😀
Can you try and make videos about tilt shift lens?
Nikes On
14:00 What man?
The autoexposure is pretty distracting and makes the footage look like it was shot on a smartphone, but funny video as always :)
Micro Four First
Why didn’t you tried Sirui with the bus? Does Sirui has more 3d pop than viltrox?
Just a tiny bit more. Viltrox as always flat.
I don’t believe I’ve ever looked so deep into another man’s eyes
If the nikon z6iii sucks im ditching this system for the lumix s5iix. And no , i cant afford the z8 or z9
I already jumped ship for the OM-1. Difference is actually way less than internet nerds make it seem and I couldn't be happier
@@LupohM8 that's awesome mate! Personally as a hybrid wedding photographer and videographer mft cameras are to noisy for my liking so I'll jump right ahead on a full frame system. But I'm sure you made the right choice for your needs so congrats on your new system
Hey Kasey, good luck trying to connect your lav mic to the OP3. Hopefully the Saramonic SR-C2003 is available there. Im struggling get my hands on one so if you find another usb-c to 3.5mm adapter that works, please let me know. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the OP3.

Viltorx baby
Sirui 23 for me :)
"Not the one" 😂
I imagine you don't have the X-S20 anymore but it would be nice to see it in comparison to Z30.
My Fujifilm died recently so I was doing some rental comparisons the Z30, R8, X-S20 were on my list.
Here's some rankings best to worst:
| Auto focus speed & reliability
R8, Z30, X-S20
| Stabilisation
R8, X-S20, Z30 - X-S20 is the only one with IBIS but it's not very good. Canon with OIS + DIS is better.
| Size & weight
Z30, R8 + X-S20 - somehow they're the same
| Natural Colours
R8, Z30, X-S20
| Colour gimmicks
X-S20, R8, Z30
| JPEG customization options
R8, X-S20 + Z30 - they have the same amount of customization
| Battery life
X-S20, Z30, R8
| Lens options
X-S20, R8, Z30
| Price overall
Z30, R8 + X-S20 - my particular R8 kit was a little bit cheaper than the same from Fujifilm.
In terms of AF I'd rank best to worst:
Sony, Canon, Panasonic PDAF, Nikon, Fujifilm, Leica Q, Panasonic CDAF.
Nikkor 35mm dx 1.8 has 8 elements. Just saying.
200th like. Come on now. Where is my mitsubishi t-shirt!
Fooj without magical lens like 35f1.4 or 18f2 and film sim is just Nikon bootleg.
7:00 lol
Wow. Oly colour.
No, you can't use them.
No so Stop dreaming about it
Any sensible replies or am I in the wrong place for sensible?
@@pipnmaz or maybe you're not sensible enough for a direct answer
@@trym2121 Thought so, no sensible people here. Thanks for clearing that up.
Can you review a new Nikon Zf; for us looser photographers? Do have to live in Canada to own one of those freaking cool leather jackets?
How is he going to review a camera he doesn't have?
@@PJ-om2wq You’ve missed. I was waiting for for his smarter-than-ass response.
I got one when he made a video a about how it’s not a good idea and Nikon is not innovating😂
But I like how he doesn’t push the narrative and has a refreshing take on gear.
I said the same thing but my comment was deleted.
I'm laughing while learning 😅😂
Hi Kasey, now that you have rediscovered Nikon would you not want to see if the lens recommendations of that other independent mind, the angry photographer, many for Nikon glass, still are valid? He is off the camera rails it seems, so we need someone with a real honest opinion and an eye for 3d pop to step in!
R7 two card slots and much better battery life than R8 not made specifically for video hobos.
Seru sux
Videos are haunted photographs.
sirui is short for mister user interface and therefore pronounced Sir. UI
Here you are, praising 3rd party lenses, finally bowing before reality.
Hey Big Dawg, I just got my very first change lens camera have many gopros but needed to change, can u do a video on Canon R50, and don't clown me fucker..lol..but it's cool if u do..lol.

Why do you strange people of Canada have four lights on semaphore?
Guess you took the bus to go home to Australië where you live.. Or was it another cave in Canada 🍁? Regards
Whud up ma nikkor.
So tell me again, why you like stuttering hands as you’re talking in the video?
For loosers?????
"free palestine" posters gave me cancer
I dread to think what's going to happen tomorrow at the Eaton's Centre. I hope they behave this time. They are just going to lose more and more support if they keep acting up, getting violent, and threatening people.
