@@revrotunda3206 its amazing how trim and fit the kids were back then. No body piercings or tattoos. The teens are of a normal build for their age. Work out trims were for movie stars and geek freaks only. I was just a few years out of my teens, but I loved the styles on the girls. So trim and refreshing. I don’t remember the boys dressing like Gypsies, but I might have gone for the scar kook too. The Sassoon cut was very sexy. Even a homely girl looked hot. I cant imagine the fragrance of that room with all those young bodies , hormones and dance sweat BO abounds.

Most may disagree with me ,but I truely believe that the computer age has destroyed the youth of America. I have a grandson who has been turned into a gamer-- a slug that sits in front of games ALL DAY. Compared to the truly good lives we had in the 60's these kids are REALLY missing out on life. I love these American Bandstand vids. I want to go back to a simpler and meaningful life.

As a heads up, letters of invitation asked dancers NOT to wear blue as that would cause dancers to disappear into the chroma key effects. Yep, the "new" set was in its infancy. Here's my 2 cents on this episode. I loved Room 222, it had a nice long run. That scene of the people riding in the car? They were really driving on location but there were cameramen hooked to the front of the car. I never heard that Winstons record before but I heard the song. Rate-a-Record was usually from new or never-heard-from artists or artists who had not had a hit in a long time. It was nearly 2 years since John Fred's big hit but only a few months since the very popular Isley Brothers' biggest hit. They were promoting a Grass Roots album that came out 7 months earlier and was off the charts for 3 months. Their next album was only a month away and it contained a top-20 single that had already peaked. Google Beau Sybin and you're directed to this clip. And finally, we have the infamous block-Nilsson-gate. Enjoyed the upload, TTFN!

Here's another great chance to see so many of our regulars for an entire show! I love it when we can watch everyone. Sometimes the stage seemed a bit dark I suppose because they were trying out the new lighting. I can't say I ever cared for the new theme song, but that's just me. I got over it. Probably what I enjoy most in this episode, aside from the good tunes, is Frank. It's like someone set him free. He's got his hip huggers on baggy shirt and tie. He spins, stomps, and does some sort truck drivin' move all over the floor. If he's not on a riser, it's hard to tell who his partner is. Good for Frank...he was feeling the love. I only spotted @Dancer Don and Karen a couple of times and they were groovin! Art and Robin were were doing their usual partnering turning and dipping. I love watching those 2!
The new Kentucky Governor has been a breath of fresh air in these tough times. He's made some hard decisions for the good of all. The Kentucky Derby will not be run until September. THAT feels weird. Unfortunately our numbers are still going up as the virus moves across to the western part of Kentucky. Except for the folks who purchase way more food than they need, everyone is trying their best. There is a new found respect for teachers as children are home schooled. I have some relatives I can't wait to see what color their hair REALLY is!!!! Hope all of you stay well. A nice car ride and walk help helps de-stress. I cannot see my grandchildren so Facebook Messenger has been a blessing. Namaste to you all! 🙏

A great flashback! What a difference two years make: when AB went to color in '67 the guys were still wearing jackets and ties. But even these kids from '69 are far better groomed than today's kids- go figure. Speaking of the Grass Roots, do you have the 1968 appearance when they did "Midnight Confessions"? THAT one is in color- I remember seeing a clip on an AB anniversary special. About the river is wide: it was recorded by Bobby Rydell on Capitol, but the FIRST version was by the pop trio from LA called The Forum (a married couple and another girl)- it actually charted before the Grass Roots version did. I highly recommend that version since it's very "Wall of Sound"!

And it was the beginning of the modern set, Mike Curb’s theme “Waterfall” was ditched after so many years of “Bandstand Boogie” and the dancers 👯‍♀️are getting down. Even Dancer Don had to ditch his hustle to get down and he does a good job at it too. No shirts and ties (except for Frank) and the Grass Roots were the band of the day. (Rip Rob Grill). First off, I HOPE EVERYONE IS BEING CAREFUL & SAFE OUT THERE!!!
OMG Aaron, this episode was soooo good!!! It has all the elements of what AB bacame until the end.
A couple of things about the set: I noticed that the second AB sign on the other side of the set was either not shown, or wasn't there yet, as it was in some 1970 eps that survived. Also, again, the slit in the A of the logo was always there on DC's podium & on the RAR board, but not the actual sign on the wall & across the front of the RAR desk. That slit became the norm starting with the 74-78 chasing lights sign. Very cool & curious...
Great music choices here! Love The Temptations, love Smith (which happens to be one of the best Pop songs ever!), love Pain by GR. I agreed with both kids during RAR, especially about The Isley's track. When they started T-Neck Records, they were releasing singles it seemed like every month after It's Your Thing dropped! There was no real focus for them yet by flooding the market with singles & nothing barely charted that high. The other song's sound was on it's last toes at that point. The bubble gum Pop sound was about to change with The J5 & The Osmonds coming up.
The kids were very intune with all the music here. Great energy. The Spinner dance seemed to be the step to do on this ep, but it didn't quite take off... Don pre porn stache, Robin & all of that hair, and Frank killed it all throughout this episode, loved them here! One of the couples in the Spotlight Dance segment & throughout was doing like a COVID-19 dance, no physical contact & dancing a few feet away from each other! Lol
Never heard of Beau Sybin, but his song was just so-so, maybe a bit dated, but glad he got his chance to be on TV. The GR was great, always liked them.
Room 222 is a really good show, it's like a precursor to Head Of The Class, A Different World, and other shows that took place in schools mainly.
Aaron, this has made my Saturday self quarantine so exciting! I'm watching this again. Thanks, as always, for all you do man & be careful out here!!!

Love how laid back Dicks presenting style was in the 60s, though I guess it was pre-recorded just in case anyone swore…
