      @@cutirosebecause they need help with that stuff. Same reason why rural families always have more kids wherever you go, and it’s been that way for ages and ages. Kids don’t always get to just be kids, and parents can’t always do it all by themselves. Also, the mom pretty blatantly stated she wanted her kids to have siblings, unlike her, so that they can rely on each other when they’re older. Both parents are working really hard to maintain a strong family, and the fact that their kids even GET to be educated is wonderful and a big step up from many in the same situation.

      @@spraypaintrose2659 Exactly. It's a tough decision for you and I because we can weigh up the benefits of an extra hand at home vs costs such as having to raise the kid, feed, clothe etc, but I'd imagine for the less socioeconomically advantaged people, they are less likely to carefully consider these. Also keep in mind they talked about how they just missed the criteria for a government allowance which incentivised having more kids.

    Watching this brings up so many feelings I can’t express. my ancestors, my parents both grew up in separate rural conditions like these. my mom in the mountains grew up farming potatoes, herding sheep, living in mud cave structures with 4 siblings walking an hr to school. My dads hometown is full of community of ppl that have known each other for generations its where I spent holidays and summers visiting my cousins but I am the only person in my family out of my cousins that grew up in the city and also immigrated to Canada as a kid. Both my parents are the youngest of the family and the only ones to go to college and live in the city so they were better off. It just makes me reflect on how unbelievably privileged I am all due to the sacrifices and hard work of my parents and grandparents. I feel guilty of having such city hands, I live on a farm in the city, very privileged but I don’t have these skills that my ancestors have had for generations. This is not a very eloquent reflection but I just feel a sense of connection bc this should be me if it weren’t for my parents education. I’m in such awe of ppl in these circumstances. 90% of the population could not endure what they do everyday and everything they do is important compared to our excessively comfortable lives in the west in comparison.

When she shared about being at the bottom of her class, I feel for her. How do we even explain to a teenager that poverty is causing her to directly and indirectly not score well in exams? This vicious cycle won't be solved by a teenager like her. The hunger she has to endure, the lack of perspective she has to face because her parents are not highly educated and the lack of resources/know who/ opportunities she must faced because they "have not".

    5:03 I feel like so many parents do this (impoverished or not), where they project their childhood wounds onto their own children and then make poor parenting choices thinking they can heal vicariously. Realistically, how does a 2 year old provide company for a 16 year old?? The older kids themselves say as they grew up they talked less, so its clearly not fixing the "loneliness" the mom thinks they have. The older daughter is having to go without food because of how expensive it is to care for the 2 younger children and its almost making her going to highschool pointless because of how bad her grades have gotten as a result. The mom seems selfish to waste the supporters money on her wanting to have more kids. Instead of it going to the kids she already had to help get the whole family out of poverty, it was all spent on the babies for years. Now people supporting them are stopping, and its possible they may not be able to afford to send the son at all when his time comes, when thats what they went viral for. It seems like such a waste that after all this they may end up in the exact same economic situation.

      Plenty domestic and international already do! It’s not a new concept. Even this family had a lot of money raised on their behalf after the first video came out but maybe through greed or corruption or both the full amount never made it into the hands of this family. They did a follow up video a few years back explaining that while lots of money was raised, they only saw a small amount, not Neto change their lives. Thankfully it looks like their luck has turned around a little bit. Still a daily struggle but not quite as bad as before.

    I remember the original video about China's Ice Boy. Out of curiosity I googled it, and was surprised at what I found. According to Newsweek after the original video came out the boy was invited to study and board at a private school. After one week the pressure on the school for interviews became too great and the government had decided to use him as a tool to help eradicate poverty. The school told his father to put him back in his original school. Maybe the government put pressure on the mother to return. If it's true they are being exploited, the government should also make sure the children have enough food to eat.

If you're poor in China, people would say it's the failure of the government, that's why the CCP is trying desperately to wipe out poverty once and for all. I don’t know if it is due to poor parental decisions but why have more kids if you can’t afford financially. This is being irresponsible. I'm gonna be honest, I am disappointed that they had more kids. They were already struggling before and when things got a little bit better, they decided to have 2 more? Coz they thought the kids were lonely? Nah.. Sure it might be a lovely addition to the family. But they just added more responsibilities to themselves and their kids. Not to mention, more expenses to worry about. I hope someday people learn to not use loneliness as an excuse to have kids unless you are sure you are financially capable.

    The problem with poor families is that they have too many children without the means to feed them and educate them. These children will most probably grow up poor as well. It’s a vicious circle. If you can’t feed your children, don't have too many. You are just bringing more sufferings into the world.

      @@yenchu1237 , Actually that was what I wanted to say too. My Burmese maid came to work in my country because she couldn't stand being hungry all the time and not having any new clothes to wear. Whenever there is a festival, they will hide in their home because they don't have any new clothes to wear. So she finally decided to tell her mum that she will go to work so she can take care of her younger schooling sister and her mum. Her poor dad passed away recently while her elder siblings left the family and never bring back come back or any money. She is lucky to work for me as I treat her like my own. I blame their parents for their sufferings.

    Very surprising... with the video of the ice boy going viral what happened to the donations? I really hope it goes to the family, esp towards the 2 older children's education. My heart bled seeing the 2yr old like that, all day in the sun. They still seem so poor. Hopefully they r not ripped off/scammed of the donations

      @user-pn9db8sm5w 11 месяцев назад +2

      After the original video came out people were looking for updated information. A report came out saying officials had kept much of the donations, giving the family very little. You know how it is in some countries, you'd have to actually go in person to pay school fees, open a meal account, improve working conditions or give other financial help.

    All the best to the family. I also noticed the girl said she didn’t have enough money to buy meals. In this case, her teacher should help her to apply for some scholarships. And I presume that the government also has some projects to fund her.

    • @PeaceLoveDolls
      @PeaceLoveDolls 11 месяцев назад

      I doubt that there is anything to help her. There are no safety nets in China.

    • @SY-ok2dq
      @SY-ok2dq 11 месяцев назад +1

      It's rural China. What government funds and scholarships? There are plenty more kids in the same situation as this family in rural China. Maybe you're young and don't know how widespread the levels of poverty worse than this were in China, a decade, 2 decades, 3 decades ago.
      Do you have any idea of how enormous the population is?

    • @xp9845
      @xp9845 11 месяцев назад

      @@SY-ok2dq As far as I am concerned, at least the girl’s teachers can help her to apply for ‘locally granted loan‘,this policy apply to all poor students (actually,all government projects to reduce poverty are aiming to poor people,but not urban students). Although this is a loan but not a scholarship that doesn’t need to return. I t still is an option and without interests, if the family cannot afford children’s education. Despite this, there are also local companies might sponsor poor students,for example,a famous large livestock raising company, named Muyuan, supported many poor students. I also agree that there are too many poor people in China, we definitely can’t cover everyone. But all people think highly of education, no one would wish to see a student quit school because of economic conditions. Take my surrounding classmates as example, we paid about $300 per semester, I remembered that part of my classmates had received some supports from the ‘local loan’ and scholarships from local companies, and my teachers had positively helped to apply. And I did not hear any classmate quitted school because of poverty. Note that I was also in a county high school which was the same level as the girls’.

    I just can never understand why impoverished families keep having more kids! It's more responsibility, pressure, finances, work, etc. I am middle class and two kids were enough for me. I never depended on anyone other than my own self to support and supply for my family. People should work within their means.

So sad there are people who still have thick face and steal money from those who are in real poverty...😔😔😔 I wish the best for the family! ❤❤❤

    Your children are struggling and your idea to solve that problem is to bring another two and make them now their responsibility?
    So now you have two more mouths to feed and the older kids will feel guilty to have enough for themselves... and basically suffer even more?
    Yes, we can't judge other people choices, but come on! Sometimes I feel so angry with parents, and later on they want to put kids in psychotherapy and say they "don't know what is wrong"

But the problem is that I scored the highest possible on every other subject so they didn't believe me. I literally can't compute math & it's so frustrating. I feel his sisters pain.
