The hinge really felt buttery smooth compared to my fold 4. Initially I wasn't gonna upgrade this year, but the other day I went to a local BestBuy and tried out the fold 5 in person. Damn the hinge felt so good, and the opening and closing become so satisfying. I always have to apply a bit force for my fold 4 to open flat, and everytime I opened it up it creates a random noise which sounds like plastic getting stretched. The crease doen't look like a night and day difference, but when I glide my finger through it, it def felt much less of a dent.

The fold 5 is more of an improvement to its feel and handling, my fold 4 is just having some potential issues that might be costly in the future if it eventually break my inner screen so might as well upgrade since price after trade-in is around $650 and is not a big deal for me.
I got it early because I live in Canada, and Samsung Canada shipped the orders early. When I placed the order it said "shipping by Aug 4th." I ended up having mine delivered to me on the 3rd by FedEX. I paid for the device, didn't get it early because I'm a creator or anything. @@Cablemb

I ended up purchasing the Z fold 5 largely based on yours and a couple others YT videos. Coming from Apple myself, it might be a hard switch since I am deep in the ecosystem. I use iMessage a lot with friends and family, so I am curious to see how their reactions will be. I might keep my iPhone just in my bag at all times, but planning to try and use this as a primary device. Any tips on how to approach leaving iMessage?
I know google messages you get get on Mac and iPad so you can still text from there but Apple hasn't adopted RCS so when you talk to another iPhone with an android phone you only get SMS which isn't secure and has no features at all beside words lol. There really is no way to get around not having iMessage. Hope this helps a little bit. I've switched between Apple and Android just prepare for all your current group chats to be messed up.
You can use Google Message on a Mac, via browser. - When it comes to family, I have a lot of people that use WhatsApp, even my Fiancé, because of work. So if there's any reason for me to need to "FaceTime" her I can call her on WhatsApp and send her MMS through it without any quality degradation. I think it would take a little getting used to, to be completely honest. It's a big change, but once you settle in I think you'd see how much Android makes sense, and how much it gives the USER the ability to do whatever they want. Congrats on your purchase!

I did the exact same thing. I sold my z-fold 4 and bought a s23 ultra. I couldn't stand this crease and I couldn't stand the thin front display. The five is tempting but it still has the ugly crease and it still has that thin front display. I want so desperately to buy it but I can't with those two non-negotiables. I hope you enjoy yours. @David-bf6pl Absolutely great! It's honestly still in near-perfect condition despite being my daily phone. Genuinely never had any complaints. No issues with screens, hinge, crease etc.
I think they are very durable, but if you are careless maybe is not for you, I am still on my Z fold 3 and still holding up after 2 years and no issues with the screen, I am always on my big screen too, wish the front screen is wider.

It's easier to hold, and feels thinner in the hand. It was never an issue for me previously, but now that the weight has been cut down and its thinner it does make using it much more comfortable. Though, I'm one of the weird people that prefer this aspect ratio for foldables, and think that it makes a lot of sense, especially for one-handed use while out and about.

MP doesn't matter, it's about the sensor size, and to be quite frank the images on the Fold are very comparable to the S23U. When it comes to the battery, I see the argument, but the S23U doesn't actually have a 5000mAh capacity, it's 4855. - I would say the Fold does a great job at keeping thermals down, and with the 8Gen2 much like the S23U battery life is going to be in a very similar ballpark, if not a little worse.
I am with you had the icy blue ordered ended up ordering the gray though. U can still order the exclusive gray with all the preorder discounts. U can refuse the package when delivered for your 1st order and Samsung will refund. I did that last year because Samsung gave me the watch for free so I refused my first order and got refunded. For a phone this expensive U should go with the color you want. The matte hinge and edges are way nicer look and feel on the exclusive versions.
Also I don't know if you know this, if you click on special offers and use the student teacher parent offer you will also save $150 on top of all the other promotions. I couldn't pass on the deal I got.
I think the grey is nice, but I'm personally not a fan of the matte. I love the shinier sides of the regular colors as well, looks more premium in my opinion.
For me. The aspect ratio is just unusable I had the fold 4 and I do alot of typing and the typing experience on both screens was horrendous for me so I had to get rid of it. I'm hoping the fold 6 they will fix that

So it's not just me! I knew the hinge felt different. It was like shockingly weird opening it on the Fold 5. But it feels a lot better for sure.

The crease is not bad at all, I think people make it a bigger deal than it is. No doubt it should be non existent, but it's a non-issue.
After a day or two you don't see it when using it unless you look for it. Kinda like the apple notch

I think the grey is nice, but I'm personally not a fan of the matte. I love the shinier sides of the regular colors as well, looks more premium in my opinion.

For me. The aspect ratio is just unusable I had the fold 4 and I do alot of typing and the typing experience on both screens was horrendous for me so I had to get rid of it. I'm hoping the fold 6 they will fix that

I typically look at the reviews from an average consumer perspective, but the Fold is one of the devices I do tend to highlight the productivity benefits due to its nature. So I will def be mentioning these things in upcoming videos! :)

It makes more sense logistically, they can fit 2X the amount of devices on trucks/ containers, and hypothetically pass the savings on to consumers. But the problem is those savings do not get passed on to consumers lol.
