That's exactly my point, they ARE businesses thus they should also pay the same taxes as any locational business. This law exists because they aren't paying the same taxes as say...a pizzaria or something.
They do pay the same taxes. They have an income tax placed on the money they make via operation. They charge sales tax when people buy the food. THe only tax they don't pay is property taxes, because they have no land or building. However, they do pay for vehicle registration every year which makes up for that. These are not tax dodgers. These are people trying to make money by provide goods and services in a market that demands them.
We where just told that the town of Stroudsburg doesn't allow us to sell in front of our flee market because even though my trailer is a fully equipped kitchen they said the building the brick & mortar building must have a fully equipped kitchen for me to serve food there. Yet the town gives permission for food carts in the streets when they have events??? Is this not protectionism and Unconstitutional being I'm already licensed and inspected by my county & state as a full kitchen on wheels?? We are financially at our end. Every town has Coersion rules , that if we want do business in their town. We don't mind paying a permit fee but they keep telling us we have to have their health inspectors inspect our trailer! Even though we're already legally inspected by someone of the state of Pennsylvania .is this not more protectionism and Coercive tactics to prevent us from earning a living within each community? Can Anyone Help Us ???? please!!!
How can you say someone is illogical when what you say makes no sense ? If it weren't for the subsidies the gas price would be higher, not lower. On the other hand, all of the other products that doesn't receive subsidies would become cheaper.
All monopolies are government enforced. So your statement is redundant. Not trying to be a jerk or anything, I just want more people to know that monopolies can ONLY exist through government collusion.
The bottom line is at what point is it necessary to aim a gun at peaceful people involving themselves in victimless behavior? Also, at what point does this turn into nothing more than a government enforced monopoly that brick and mortar shops have over the little guy?
Are the current laws intended to protect the "brick and mortar" restaurants? For what reason? I highly doubt a truck is going to take their business in a big city. I love street meat and everything, but I wouldn't take my wife there for dinner.
...Really? I'ma go out on a limb here and say that you are a conservative. Think about what you just typed. So by that logic gas should be 2 cents per gallon since we give gas companies millions and millions and millions in tax subsidies. Oh hmmm well would you look at that: gas prices are over 3 dollars per gallon! You right-wingers are sooooooo illogical.
If you are an entrepreneur you must remember that the government is your enemy not your friend.

many cities also have a food truck fee
They are actual businesses

Legislature: We don't get enough taxes from food trucks, they don't pay property tax... LETS SHUT EM DOWN!

500 feet of brick and mortar restaurants - protectionism?
lol.... metered parking spaces... I guess its best of both worlds.
Land of the free?

This isn't true. Natural monopolies can exist without any encouragement (active or tacit) from governments.
legalize everything
Still, but a food truck should pay the same taxes as an actual business.
they would if they had property to pay for

well depends on the type of diner you are having, street meat in your picnic basket with some beer/wine can be a nice time
