It's really crazy how they have a completely unique grandiose dragon boss in some cryptic area where you have to go to observe the edge of a cliff and find some platforms to hop down to, and see the prompt to lie down in a specific spot so you're taken to the arena. Most games nowadays have such an underwhelming number of enemy types and bosses, meanwhile fromsoft hides several of their unique bosses like this. There really is no developer like them.

My theory for his lore and Farum Azula and why he looks kinda undead is because he was a watcher of sorts for the Erdtree and when the Tarnished burns the tree, he goes crazy and turns into a giant tornado which destroys Farum Azula which is why time seems to be reversing and why the tornado seemingly goes through the wreckage

Just beat him after a handful of attempts… most fun and rewarding fight that I’ve done so far in er!! Really wish they put a weaker version of him in the starting area as I think his move set is ideal for teaching the art of dodging + interpreting upcoming attacks

My favorite part of this boss fight is when you die, you don't have a convenient statue of Merika to start again. You get to do the annoying trek over and over again, yee yee! Having said that after my third try I killed him with my own red lightning he didn't seem to like it too much. Then I bestowed some of my Elden Lord lipton onto his corpse's ashes repeatedly.
@@randomcheese1719 i totally get that that, I used the mimic too. Though I used the most well known farming method in the game so I was like 150 give or take.

Completely one shot him standing inside the terra magicus' zone using comet azur w/ the flask of wonderous physick activated (spell power + unlimited FP for 10 secs). Also had my black knife Tiche summon teeing off on him with his bleed affect. He was right about to smash me into oblivion too and turned to dust all around me. Was pretty dope lol.
It was the total opposite for me, he became very mobile and kept flying away and landing far from me and doing dangerous attacks, and I started to fear I'd have to waste another arc and run all the way back down. Good tense fight.
im quite proud that i got almost everything on my own apart from 1 of everything XD i wwas missing 1 legend weapon, 1 legend talisman, 1 hidden boss xD
how do i get to his arena after killing him? i died and it gave me his remebrance but i couldnt hit the grace because of my death i died to his fire and killed him last second and now i have no way of getting to that arena to get to my previous runes and grace sight.
There is something really wrong with the first rock platform you jump down upon to get there. 90% of the time I jump down on it I die even though it isnt a high height?
@@JackJonValois you’re probably landing on the wrong one. The first one you need to drop to looks more like a ledge and is sort of difficult to see. Walk toward the edge of the cliff that juts out and pan your camera to the right and downwards. You should see the ledge I’m talking about. Hope this helps 👍🏽
I had good luck against Placidurax by summoning Latenna ash +10 and then just running around back of arena dodging lightning for 5 min. Didn't lay a finger on the ol' dragon. Let Latenna do all the work. By not hitting or getting too close to Placidurax, I didn't trigger any other area of effect attacks. Big bad dragon just sat in the middle getting plunked by Latenna. Came out of the fight with full health and all flasks intact. Took me awhile to figure it out, but I hope this helps someone get past this baddie. Thanks Latenna you are master archer!
Another cool fact about this boss/arena. If you were singed by the frenzied flame, following Millicent’s quest line you can get Miquella’s needle. This arena is the only place you can consume it and reverse you from being locked into the frenzied flame ending. 🔥
I finally beat him, I used level 10 Radhan’s sword and Bloodhound’s fang that used to beat Melania was failed. And I respec to able use my sword of night and flame and it works perfectly.
I had no idea this boss even existed I just happened to get this video on my recommended and clicked on it out of curiosity! Awesome boss glad I didn’t miss it!
You can decimate his health by using the Ancient Dragons’ Lightning Strike Incantation. I used it plus I had my mimic tear ash use it and i ended up killing him first try I ever fought him. Melted his health bar like nothing
By far, one of the greatest boss fights I’ve ever endured, but that laser beam nonsense he pulls is complete bs. Can’t count the amount of times I died from that lol took me two days to FINALLY fell this beast! Well done by the developers!
Once i just started a ng+ and his grace was just there, when I teleported the boss was still there and i could tp whenever i wanted, i also spawned right under him saving me from one of the longest runbacks in the game. I could also do some extra damage because i was instantly close to him.

You can also use the Miquella’s needle from the Millicent’s questline to prevent become the lord of frenzied frame before starting the boss fight.
Do you have to do that before you kill the black blade?
@@SooperKaleBoo I didn’t try it, but it’s possible that you can do it after. My theory is you can do it anytime before the ending, but I already finished the game, so I cannot test it.
Where are you exactly use Miquella's needle? I just killed Placidusax and I dont know where use this item.
@@dylanvedie4557 Open item menu to use it
@@dylanvedie4557 You have to use it at the dragonlord boss room. So teleport back to use it.
I swear, this game has so many areas to explore and cool bosses to fight that makes you think that this game has like 2-3 DLC's. Fromsoftware and Miyazaki always delivers!!
One of the most epic dragon/boss fights in the game hands down 🙌 I actually enjoyed dying to re play the fight😅
Me too
On my first playthrough, I got down there by accident and actually thought it was the main story path.
Thanks king
Thank you, im alredy in my third playthrough and i were not able to find this guy till now
My theory for his lore and Farum Azula and why he looks kinda undead is because he was a watcher of sorts for the Erdtree and when the Tarnished burns the tree, he goes crazy and turns into a giant tornado which destroys Farum Azula which is why time seems to be reversing and why the tornado seemingly goes through the wreckage
Farum Azula already looks like this before you burn the Erdtree
@@nathria42
Yeah you're right. I just found out recently that it may have been Astel that smashed Farum Azula
Farum Azula is outside of time and Placidusax was the first Elden Lord (predating the Erdtree)
@@LowIntSpecimen not the first elden lord, but an elden lord before the time of the erdtree
@@LowIntSpecimen when he is floating and has his heads straight up, it’s super reminiscent of the two fingers pointing up to communicate with the Greater Will. It’s so cool to think this Lord of Dragons is hiding in time to talk to its god about confronting the Greater Will
Been 2 years and i didnt even know about this boss, time to go back
Damn another boss to fight the list keeps on growing
Missed this dude during my 1st Playthrough
great guide man
Bro didnt bother to pick up his runes. Respect
Before I seen this video I was stuck at 1:26 trying to figure out what was over here I was so lost 😅
Videos and games like this remind me that our for fathers were explorers and sometimes we as gamers seek to find something undisicovered.
Beat him first try, epic arena to fight in, just beautiful overall.
Liar
@darknightoftroy i can imagine people being good at the game, i myself have played most of the soulsbourne games. I just dont get why people lie to sound cool. Unless you’re over-levelled to shit and using summons you aint beating the late game bosses first try
@darknightoftroy na ill call a lie a lie. Noone beat it on their first try lool
@@jordkinsmith3588 I beat him first try on level 155
@@whiterunguard3246 ah you were massively overlevelled then
Nice guide
all we need now is the jenova ost playing when we jump down to the boss ^^
This fight is what the Elden Beast should have been
This boss scares the shit out of me lmao, ive never even fought it but i had a dream i did 😂
I see this just as I start new game plus 🙂
I swear Eldne ring hides like one of the best or weirdest bosses in the most random places
As his storms were raging and he was doing his laser beam attack our health bars were extremely low and his blew his fire too afterwards it hit me and we both died at the same time facing each other. When I found out i won i was legitimately sad. I miss him already. I’ll definitely be back in NG+ to fight and die again.
If there's one thing I can appreciate about elden ring it's that if you can see some place, then you can probably go there
Just beat him after a handful of attempts… most fun and rewarding fight that I’ve done so far in er!! Really wish they put a weaker version of him in the starting area as I think his move set is ideal for teaching the art of dodging + interpreting upcoming attacks
So he'd be another repeated boss in a game that has like 30 of them? No thanks. I'm glad he's unique. One of Elden Ring's worst parts was so many duplicate bosses as well as repeated bosses slapped together.
@@Darkwratheon Not really?I only seen like 2 duplicated bosses which are the tree sentinel and God apostle
@@Senbonzakuraaaapp you haven't explored any dungeons it seems
@@Senbonzakuraaaapp You must be new to the game. There's over 100 repeated bosses in the game that you can find in dungeons, the world, and in the main path even. Look it up.
@@Senbonzakuraaaapp what? There is nothing but repeat bosses. Nothing feels special in the game because the bosses are repeated so many times. I think there are only a couple that don't have repeats.
The moment you die when he was almost dead and then notice after the fight you hadn't put on the talismans that boost your damage...
This fight was INSANE dude!!!
I only just learned of this fight location in Journey 4. He KICKED my ASS at least 10 times over the span of a few hours. Finally got him though and his rememberance loot is awesome
Anyone else get him glitched in phase 2 and he literally just sat there did nothing and took every hit from me and mimic? Beat him first try 😂
Holy shit bro, I read this before fighting it and the exact same thing happened to me. First try to, I had no flasks left as well lol, I could've died. 😂
Yeah i hope they fixed this because this boss is my favorite in the whole game.
Same, just happend a min ago
no but same happened with the elden beast with me i just died on purpose then cuz it was boring
Imagine bragging about beating a boss with mimic in the first place
Me: Looks like a bat hanging upside down on a invisible bar.
Dragonlord: And that's when I took it personal.
Beat him 2nd try, no cheese bleed build. I love the move he does when he flies up on the sky and comes down kinda like radahn. That move one shot me the first time since I went into the fight blind.
Thanks my guy straight n simple just the way it should be.
My favorite part of this boss fight is when you die, you don't have a convenient statue of Merika to start again. You get to do the annoying trek over and over again, yee yee!
Having said that after my third try I killed him with my own red lightning he didn't seem to like it too much. Then I bestowed some of my Elden Lord lipton onto his corpse's ashes repeatedly.
the long trek made me give up and just use mimic, i dont got hours to waste on this shit lol
@@randomcheese1719 i totally get that that, I used the mimic too. Though I used the most well known farming method in the game so I was like 150 give or take.
Damn I pulled this video up and my character is wearing the EXACT same armor with the same mask and weapon. Tripped me out 😂
Thank you so much .. You helped me a lot ❤️
Thanks for the tutorial I would have never found this. Almost killed him first try but his crazy laser beams got my ass.
Same here! Had to go back with mimic and whip his ass lol.
@@x0scimy0x he’s really not as difficult as I expected!
I really enjoyed this boss fight. sucks that on my 4th attempt I only beat it because it bugged out and stopped moving once I got it to about 30% health.
it hapenned to me too xD
Lucky you
Well that kinda suck because at 30% this boss becomes more crazy.
lol i was wonder why he is so chilled...got him without any hit taken....kinda dissapointed...
It bugged out on me at about 15% health too but I had only used two flasks so he was fucked regardless.
Tripped me out. Opened the video and saw we have the exact same fit.
Very cool but it was bit a one shot from what im reading
Not sure how you can one shot dragonlord placidusax, also, I'm pretty sure placidusax can practically 3 shot a black knife tiche, but you do you ig
@@benucho3016 dont forget he is using that op busted lazer beam spell
@@benucho3016 Pure caster INT builds are broken. You can 1 shot pretty much anything with buffs, INT hard capped, and the laser spell.
Not enjoying
I had no idea this existed but since I went to NG+ it automatically saves that site of grace so you can go there right away. Pretty cool
Thanks for the tip iam gonna do it later lol, but ehen you get killed tho do you spawn in the arena? Or travel back to the site of grace
@@jessexd9674 yeah it takes you right to an arena and when you die you respawn back inside it just rests the boss. And you can leave anytime
his AI broke when he was about 30% health left. He stood there like a champ lmao
It was the total opposite for me, he became very mobile and kept flying away and landing far from me and doing dangerous attacks, and I started to fear I'd have to waste another arc and run all the way back down. Good tense fight.
You wear all the same armor as I do. Excellent combo, man.
im quite proud that i got almost everything on my own apart from 1 of everything XD i wwas missing 1 legend weapon, 1 legend talisman, 1 hidden boss xD
how do i get to his arena after killing him? i died and it gave me his remebrance but i couldnt hit the grace because of my death i died to his fire and killed him last second and now i have no way of getting to that arena to get to my previous runes and grace sight.
There is something really wrong with the first rock platform you jump down upon to get there.
90% of the time I jump down on it I die even though it isnt a high height?
Walk toward it and don’t jump.
@@MrThetruth1986 I did and I would still die
@@JackJonValois you’re probably landing on the wrong one. The first one you need to drop to looks more like a ledge and is sort of difficult to see. Walk toward the edge of the cliff that juts out and pan your camera to the right and downwards. You should see the ledge I’m talking about. Hope this helps 👍🏽
@@MrThetruth1986 I did jump on the second one which always killed me until I watched a video and edged on the first one that only kills me sometimes.
@@JackJonValois that’s really odd. You shouldn’t even take fall damage on any of the drops along the way.
On ng+2 and ive never done this or even seen this. This game is TOO huge 😂
There not being a stake is quite annoying
Thanks man, love the way you showed how to get there but not any rewards you get...great vid man ;)
I had good luck against Placidurax by summoning Latenna ash +10 and then just running around back of arena dodging lightning for 5 min.
You're a god! Still works
For anyone wondering you can kill Maliketh first and still fight the dragon lord , it’s letting me at least ;p
It won’t let me
I beat him twice before and still forgot the way. This one's for Bayle
lmao the dragon went afk at 30% and let me hit him freely until his death? really good music, first try ez tho
Perfect quick tutorial. Thank-you lol
Really crazy and fun boss battle, defeated him on my first try!!
And I am In My Second But it's Better than the most of the players who Won In the 100th try
Flashbacks to midir
@@Anonymous-mg8bu I’d only heard of him after playing Elden Ring. This was my first FS game
Thanks man really appreciate the video can see how he can be so missable
Love how you have to follow the same path to fight him again, couldn’t put a Stake of Marika huh?
Once i just started a ng+ and his grace was just there, when I teleported the boss was still there and i could tp whenever i wanted, i also spawned right under him saving me from one of the longest runbacks in the game. I could also do some extra damage because i was instantly close to him.
