there arent many people that played back in 2016 around anymore, but I promise that Goison was actually unplayable. Especially since those cards were reallly accessible compared to other bad metas. EVERYONE was running it and it was soooo much better than everything else
In my Opinion the wirst Meta was the Day one Goblinmachine, becouse it was so Broken that no other Deck than Goblinmachine miror was even playable. If you player even the best metadeck Form bevor you habe no Chance and the five other cards than Goblinmachine mirror and goblincurse were just there to fill your Deck. I think no one talkes about it becouse it took onely one Day,but it was just skillless.
The goblin machine and curse have to have been the most braindead and broken cards to ever be released, but they didn’t even get a meta since they were locked behind goblin ladder, and were nerfed in like 2 days
I think one of the current year or late 2023 metas has to be the worst one imo (though I wasn't playing during the original Giant Poison era so I don't know how bad that one was). Phoenix Monk Mirror and October 2019 specially were absurdly toxic but they were at least a shock to the system after the meta was relatively stale for a while, but now there's just an absurdly broken toxic meta literally every meta. Instead of the broken meta being somewhat refreshing after a stale meta the broken meta IS the stale thing. Like me and many others even those who play fully casually are just bored of "broken new P2W thing comes out and dominates a season" for the 15th time. Specially bad for the metas where dagger duchess was broken, since having a tower troop that good means that it's inherently going to be harder to get through and win which means a lot of matches are gonna feel like a complete stalemate and that's just gonna be a lot more boring and frustrating.
Yeah, I’m not a fan of where the game is headed tbh. Even tho metas were brain dead in the past they never really felt pay to win like they do now. It’s a weird feeling
@@epsilonclash not only that most braindead metas before were the exception, and honestly often were refreshing in a way after a stale meta. Nowadays they took a complete left turn to the direct opposite direction, now the meta is completely different and completely braindead broken 80% of the time and you bet that the new shiny card you need to buy and level up is gonna be the number 1 card that season
I’m surprised metaknight wasn’t mentioned because while it wasn’t a top ladder crusher, it was insane in midladder and everyone had it or a counter to it
Yep, I shoulda mentioned it but I knew there would be comments of people saying “oh you’re just bad at the game coz u can’t counter mk” so I kept it out 💀
I play on high rangs and there is only two types of decks now: mega knight + firecracker or hog + firecracker. And you lost game after game in sudden death because of the cheap damage that she does. Nothing changes since firecracker is out. Dunno why the devs can’t nerf it. At least do the fire rate like the princess has. Why my main card, princess is so bad in compare with firecracker, and she’s been that bad for years already.
thing is the firecracker isn't actually that much of a problem in top ladder, because in the end she is pretty easy to counter. Its in midladder shes an issue because many players don't really know how to counter her in mid ladder.
@@epsilonclashnah I hit top ladder twice with classic bait the firecracker is soo annoying because she bounces out of the way of my princess and log dosnt kill her. I run a new bait deck with arrows now and I have no issues lol.
While brief, I think Goblin Machine mirror was one of the generally most brain dead (whoever gets the most goblin machines down wins), but I’d hesitate calling it bad since it was fun watching rockets exploding all over the place and troops blowing up.
Haven't played this game consistently for like 4 years, however I never used any meta deck and stuck with my own self made deck basically since I had the cards that consists of Poison, Mega minion, Electro wizard, zap, ice spirit, dark prince, battle ram and Pekka. My winrate is crazy good with 1222 wins, 826 3 crowns and 485 losses since the game was released. Wish it was like it was 4-6 years ago when there wasn't all this cancer of new towers and crazy OP units with goofy abilities.
I played the game right after release and stopped when the E Barbs were OP, my favorite card was the Witch. I started playing again in late 2023 and it's sad how I missed the only time Witch was viable
I Played CR daily from June 2017 to July 2023 , experienced almost 50 different metas, and ofc there has been so many toxic ones, so many bad ones that still were kinda fun, few balanced/not so bad ones But for me the worst meta one by far that was literally unplayable was the 2019 October meta, the egolem release season, there was waay too many very broken cards at the same time ( egolem / witch / night witch / executioner / wall breakers) not to forget that these made many other cards be better in a toxic way (fisherman / rage / lumberjack / poison / sparky...)
True but I never had any problem getting to top 500 every season. Lumber loon bowler freeze is my oldest deck. There was a time when people considered it toxic but now as it doesn’t have any evo's or champs it's one of the most balanced decks out there and it counters almost everything. Because of the bowler. At this point in time, the bowler is the best counter to almost every broken card.
yeah theres been a trend where the bowler has been a counter to every broken ground card. Its probably because the bowler is able to do so many things like knockback small troops, do area damage and hit multiple targets.
To be fair, little prince was a card that was given out for free to players no matter their trophies or level. Since it was a champion too, many people will use it resulting in its high 75 percent usage rate.
yes but keep in mind that was grand challenge usage rate, so despite getting it for free over 75% of players were using it in GCs as well. Its insane tbh lol
Competitive games don't really need to have a meta, like smash bros ultimate on release, all characters were equally viable and matchups weren't too favoured towards one character
Drill in the dagger duchess meta was more of a counter meta deck that relied heavily on the op bomber since drill wouldn’t get damage if they placed a knight night witch ball or even barbs on it, drill wasn’t op and didn’t even receive any buff for yonks
Wow this video is really well made, for a second I thought this video was from a channel with millions of subscribers. Keep it up! It's only a matter of time that you'll get to a million!
I played back in 2017-2018. One of the last new cards I saw was giant goblin. Game was still fun then, but I'd already been playing it for like a year. It was time to move on. I'm astounded to learn that people like Orange juice and surgical goblin are still playing this game six years later.
@@epsilonclash I was getting bored of the game, yet I was still playing it quite a bit every day due to its addictive nature. I figured I'd be better off just dropping it entirely. It seems I was right about that.
Surprised there was no mention of Earthquake Mirror cycle meta, not only was it super braindead broken, but it was the best counter to Elixir Pump Mirror forcing its usage even higher!
@@RandomHandle837 They were good already without the evolution. The evolution just wasn't as good as other evolutions, so they received buffs until they could defend an entire push for 1 elixir + counter-push potential.
You forgot to add executioner on his release dude was full of glitches like mini stun and hitting behind his back plus tornado made it even more broken
The elixir meta is by far the worst one in my opinion, combined with the prince and pekka, made me uninstall the game and not play it for 3 years straight, horrible how long it took for the elixir pump to be nerfed
Imagine if all cards had all the nurfs taken off and every card with every buff piled up and every card is at its peak who knows what would be the top deck or cards
One thing every broken cards was this strong is mostly cycle decks, just cycle your strong 4 elixir and you pretty much win games. They should just make power levels according to elixir costs, its understandable that skarmy can counter a pekka but a knight or ice wiz to solo a pekka in defense alone was too effective itself.
The mirror needs to be upgraded, you can't even use it after a champion to copy the previous card to the champion The fact that the mirror has extra lv2 is not the problem, the problem is that lv1 is 10% more statistics and that is too much, but this will never change right not lv15?
One of the most quiet yet op metas ever was the 2022 goblin drill meta. When mighty miner was first released and the 4 instead of 3 goblins buff was first introduced, this deck took so little skill. You would drill and might miner same lane and u basically had a free tower. It worked even better with that fact tornado was extra strong at the time.
dagger dutches was the worst because she was on the field the entire game and made Rocket Cycle and beatdown the meta, not to mention the broken evolutions
I don‘t know why, but the op Night Witch was the best time for CR, it was funny and I would say that my favourite times were when an innovative Card like Night Witch or Egiant was strong for a shorter time. I think everybody loved that first op Night Witch Meta, because it was sth new. My most hated Card of all time is Drill and that is the reason why I say, every time this Card was strong and Drill was never a bad card I hated the meta and Drill is one of the reasons why I have deleted my account and would never play this game again! Egiant was my second most liked card behind Monk!
To be honest, the poison recent nerf isnt good. An epic spell dealing less damages than a fireball isnt a good idea. And dont forget that the poison takes 8 seconds to deal all its damages while the fireball just rushes to the tower. So yes, obviously, it will deal more damages than the fireball which in my opinion totally makes sense. Maybe I'm saying that because I play poison, but I think that having rare cards better than epic cards isnt a good idea. Another example is how e barbs are broken and can just clap almost every card in the game inclunding champions, and guess what, it's a common card. It's the same for the evomved firecracker, hitting a troop in the middle of the areana when you're on the left side to hit the tower on the right side and still manage to deal at least 200 damages and kill troops is more than overpower3d
yeah rarities don't really mean much anymore, but I see you're point. Poison is a special card tho, its ability is honestly pretty legendary tbh, its consistent damage compared to instant damage of the fireball, if that makes sense.
I was going to say the worst meta was mirror egiant golden knight and earthquake was bad but nothing was worse than dagger duchess it genuinely made the game so unfun
you forgot the goblin machine mirror meta back when the goblin path was added, i know supercell nerf it 3 days later but that reveals how BROKEN it was for 5 elixir it was so insane and stup1d that all the deck was spirits and goblin machine mirror, doesn't need any support, almost the hp of a 7 elixir card and the rocket cleaning firecrackers, musketeers, even inferno dragons in 2 rockets also the goblin rocket was doing 528 to crown tower in level 11, making 1056 damage always in 1x elixir, easy win in 3 pushes for me it was personally annoying hearing baby sounds on the most broken card just because supercell wanted a bald bastard on the arena, its just nonsense you can tell me the legendary fire bird fenix its meta, a giant dude armored with iron and a battery its meta, two crazy blonde man who trained years and years are meta but you can't tell me a baby with his *wood toy* its meta, literally the goblin machine should die to a fire spirit or to a pekka in 1 hit, the other ones are more . . . justified why they were meta
I wouldn't say forgot, since I played when it first released and I know how stupidly strong of a card he was, but I wouldn't say its a meta. I see where u are coming from, but I would say its more of a phase that the game went through rather then a full blown meta. But yes, for those couple of days the game was at an all time low of toxic and braindead
My issue with this subject is bias. No matter who you ask you'll get bias. Ask cycle players? Beatdown metas are bad. Ask beatdown players? Control metas are bad. Such is the way of things. Its a decent video, tho i dont fully agree with all the metas used, or at least the reasons given. Personally i hate modern cycle as i think its low skill, but that's just an opinion. So yeah, good vid, but keep bias in mind and also the mindset of players plus the game state outside of the meta.
Haha yeah but when I saw “worst” I mean the most universally hated meta. Technically speaking there is no such thing as a worst anything just a universally hated thing.
what about the firecracker meta? not only is it still reasonably overpowered but when it was the most popular card they gave it an evolution. Not to talk about the card on realease
despite her nerf she was pretty op. I think people forget that she was actually relesaed in june, it was during late may that players had access to her tho bcs of the night witch challenge
Yooo amazing video. ❤ i would love to ask where you found that 2017 data since im a big math nerd and love watching them but i never found them on royale api. Thanks
It was just searching on reddit and seeing what people talked about In terms of usage. For instance, there was a reddit post that I used to find night witch stats in release and in that someone mentioned she had a 43% usage rate. It’s not easy but it’s worth it in the end
yeah but it was only really an issue in top ladder for a couple of weeks, after that it became a broken midladder card. All of these metas affected top ladder equally to midladder. If that was the case, i could have included mega knight or hog rider since they are also infamous mid ladder cards. Hope that makes sense!!

If you player even the best metadeck Form bevor you habe no Chance and the five other cards than Goblinmachine mirror and goblincurse were just there to fill your Deck. I think no one talkes about it becouse it took onely one Day,but it was just skillless.
was that even a meta though? Barely anyone had enough cards to fully upgrade it and before most people could obtain it, it was nerfed very fast.
12:52
When you let AI make your subtitles:
Cods
Lol 😂😭
Tbf it sounds like cods
Goison was so bad that even after all this time I remember it (especially the bowler version) ...
yep. Bowler really ended the debate about the worst meta
I highly doubt your high rank if you can’t defend a hog.
@@epsilonclashnah I hit top ladder twice with classic bait the firecracker is soo annoying because she bounces out of the way of my princess and log dosnt kill her. I run a new bait deck with arrows now and I have no issues lol.
@@Likmiknutz lol I know the pushback is pretty annoying
I started playing again in late 2023 and it's sad how I missed the only time Witch was viable
giant posion, no contest. if you played back then it was literally unavoidable
I Played CR daily from June 2017 to July 2023 , experienced almost 50 different metas, and ofc there has been so many toxic ones, so many bad ones that still were kinda fun, few balanced/not so bad ones
But for me the worst meta one by far that was literally unplayable was the 2019 October meta, the egolem release season, there was waay too many very broken cards at the same time ( egolem / witch / night witch / executioner / wall breakers) not to forget that these made many other cards be better in a toxic way (fisherman / rage / lumberjack / poison / sparky...)
yeah October 2019 was horrific.
great vid honestly. Really hit the two metas I hated the most. Night witch golem and egiant mirror metas.
I miss the Double Prince and Hog Freeze Meta
Once they nerfed bomber the deck was thrown out basically, it still would work if the bomber was the same and the drill was still nerfed
Dagger Duchess meta was the absolute worst to me
Wow this video is really well made, for a second I thought this video was from a channel with millions of subscribers. Keep it up! It's only a matter of time that you'll get to a million!
That means a lot to me, thank you so much for the support!!
I played back in 2017-2018. One of the last new cards I saw was giant goblin. Game was still fun then, but I'd already been playing it for like a year. It was time to move on. I'm astounded to learn that people like Orange juice and surgical goblin are still playing this game six years later.
damn thats cool to hear, what made you quit in 2018?
@@epsilonclash I was getting bored of the game, yet I was still playing it quite a bit every day due to its addictive nature. I figured I'd be better off just dropping it entirely. It seems I was right about that.
Surprised there was no mention of Earthquake Mirror cycle meta, not only was it super braindead broken, but it was the best counter to Elixir Pump Mirror forcing its usage even higher!
Tower cards? Evolutions? DOUBLE evolutions? I'm glad i left this game a few years ago.
They are actually really cool when balanced
@@RandomHandle837Evolutions are inherently broken. They buff cards that aren't necessarily bad, like skeletons.
@@olasdorosdiliusimilius2174 Skeletons Evo needed like 4 buffs to become good, how is that inherently broken?
@@RandomHandle837 They were good already without the evolution. The evolution just wasn't as good as other evolutions, so they received buffs until they could defend an entire push for 1 elixir + counter-push potential.
@@olasdorosdiliusimilius2174to this day I think they need to nerf evo firecracker into the dirt 😂
And here it is they made the dagger from a good card used in meta to the worst card that none uses
12:49 "clash royale would be dominated by three overpowered cods"
Not the cods! 🐠🐟
hahaha bro I swear like the subtitles thing I use literally has no common sense. Cool to see it got some giggles tho
You forgot to add executioner on his release dude was full of glitches like mini stun and hitting behind his back plus tornado made it even more broken
yeah I did, there are so many metas that I missed tbh
The elixir meta is by far the worst one in my opinion, combined with the prince and pekka, made me uninstall the game and not play it for 3 years straight, horrible how long it took for the elixir pump to be nerfed
Idk I feel like the mother witch meta deserves a mention. After her first buff she countered the swarm meta single- handley
Imagine if all cards had all the nurfs taken off and every card with every buff piled up and every card is at its peak who knows what would be the top deck or cards
Heal spell 3 musketeers meta??? That meta was so broken they had to nerf the heal spell to oblivion and then later delete it from the game.
Yeahhh tbh I actually took a small break from the game during that time so I didn’t even think about it, my bad
Bro where is goblin machine meta?Okay it stayed short but worth to mention you know.
Yea I had it in mind, but it’s not really a meta, it’s more of a phase that the game went through.
Gotta love the Minecraft music in the background
Imo
1.phoenix+monk meta
2.Dagger dutchess meta
3.Lvl 16 mirror
4.Crl 2023 meta
5.Giant meta
I like the name of your channel. When I discovered the origin of the name zeta division I was like OHHHHHHH
lol i dont play brawl stars but glad u like the channel name!!
The mirror needs to be upgraded, you can't even use it after a champion to copy the previous card to the champion
The fact that the mirror has extra lv2 is not the problem, the problem is that lv1 is 10% more statistics and that is too much, but this will never change
right not lv15?
No mention of goblin machine is criminal :(
One of the most quiet yet op metas ever was the 2022 goblin drill meta. When mighty miner was first released and the 4 instead of 3 goblins buff was first introduced, this deck took so little skill. You would drill and might miner same lane and u basically had a free tower. It worked even better with that fact tornado was extra strong at the time.
the fact that every deck then had valk/bowler/dark prince/ghost/log, even multiple of them, yet goblin drill was still an issue is insane
@@lightsama2463 exactly. Also this was pre rocket nerf so you could cycle rockets as well and they did 600 dmg
When newbies say "Phoneix was the most overpowered card!" Remind them 2017-2018 night witch can take out pekka
(pekka cant even have a shot on tower"
Nowadays night witch can still counter a Pekka with right timing.
@@BIELOpdb i just mean a support troop can took pekka. Imagine battle healer took pekka down
Phoenix was the more overpowered and versatile card overall but OG night witch was the most toxic
At least we never had a true meta with the first version of the goblin machine, that would have been monk-phoneix meta 2.0
yeah lol it woulda been so bad
dagger dutches was the worst because she was on the field the entire game and made Rocket Cycle and beatdown the meta, not to mention the broken evolutions
Poison is a special card tho, its ability is honestly pretty legendary tbh, its consistent damage compared to instant damage of the fireball, if that makes sense.
worst for me was the last one with Duchess tower hero... cut down on so many decks
Clash royale is in his peak right now since the moment evos came out
I was going to say the worst meta was mirror egiant golden knight and earthquake was bad but nothing was worse than dagger duchess it genuinely made the game so unfun
Find a time period in clash Royale history without a broken no skill meta challenge impossible
And now we have rocket silo 2.9 in the rocket rumble challenge
you forgot the goblin machine mirror meta back when the goblin path was added, i know supercell nerf it 3 days later but that reveals how BROKEN it was for 5 elixir it was so insane and stup1d that all the deck was spirits and goblin machine mirror, doesn't need any support, almost the hp of a 7 elixir card and the rocket cleaning firecrackers, musketeers, even inferno dragons in 2 rockets
also the goblin rocket was doing 528 to crown tower in level 11, making 1056 damage always in 1x elixir, easy win in 3 pushes
for me it was personally annoying hearing baby sounds on the most broken card just because supercell wanted a bald bastard on the arena, its just nonsense
you can tell me the legendary fire bird fenix its meta, a giant dude armored with iron and a battery its meta, two crazy blonde man who trained years and years are meta
but you can't tell me a baby with his *wood toy* its meta, literally the goblin machine should die to a fire spirit or to a pekka in 1 hit, the other ones are more . . . justified why they were meta
Goblin machine + goblin curse... For like 5 horus when it came out 😂
my favorite gotta be the lv16 3m pump meta in 2021 💀
April 2024 dagger duchess was actually fantastic for me. (I played Xbow so I never had to cross the bridge 😭😭)
Battle machine pekka for the short amount of time it was viable was the only usable option
what about the firecracker meta? not only is it still reasonably overpowered but when it was the most popular card they gave it an evolution. Not to talk about the card on realease
Yeah I kinda grouped it into the evos meta but yeah it was a painfully annoying evo at release
thank you for making content that can replace gratz im tired of supporting creeps
Oh for first attack speed u could put a sword and like a 1st in a clock
Did goblin machine release not qualify because of how short it was?
yeah basically
Where can you see the usage stats? Are they posted somewhere?
Im surprised you forgot golem night witch clone. Or 3 musketeers.
What if for April fools supercell brought back the strongest version of every card that would be funny to see which would be the strongest
that would make for such a fun gamemode lol. It would truly bring life back into this game
Buff Barb Hut
Nerf miner
I think Void is what pushed wizard etc. out.
B-but lumberloon
Evolutions, phoenix, goblin machine. There, saved ya 25 minutes.
No way bro forgot the Royale giant meta when RG could shoot at the bridge practically and shots only took 1 second!!!!
It was more of a mid ladder problem then overall the whole game but yeah
Phoenix monk meta was peak
FIGHT ME NERDS
also the games trash now
I had a great sleep after this. Appreciate it bro.
All good!! Always good to hear!
If mirror is viable, then the mega is trash
Most braindead boring meta was the hog cycle
hog cycle is always viable lol, except for when dutchess was meta
3:17 night witch was overpowered in may not June. In June she got nerfed
despite her nerf she was pretty op. I think people forget that she was actually relesaed in june, it was during late may that players had access to her tho bcs of the night witch challenge
Goison was the Vietnam of metas. Any other answer is by someone who didn’t face the cruelty that was goison.
Goison doesnt hold a candle to Phoenix. Nor evo knight+little prince.
Yeah I put at the end to end the video on a nostalgic note, tbh phoenix and goison were similar
2016 RG not in the vid is crazy
yeah but it was only really an issue in top ladder for a couple of weeks, after that it became a broken midladder card. All of these metas affected top ladder equally to midladder. If that was the case, i could have included mega knight or hog rider since they are also infamous mid ladder cards. Hope that makes sense!!
now best metas:
3m
3m
3m
3m
mkloon
3m
lol exactly
You forgot the goblin hut meta
three musketeers and heal spell meta😖
yeah, even though it was pretty shortlived it was deadly. Anytime 3M is op the meta is horrible.
@@epsilonclash I remember when 3M were killed after being dominant for like a year straight, it genuinely felt like a new game and the meta was so varied for a while there it was actual world piece lmfao
“…And almost every time a new evo was released”
Spell cycle Martas is the absolute worst in my opinion
any meta in 2023 is bad
