Z-One pickups are unbeatable! I have a Reverend Crosscut with those pickups ❤ Thinking on purchasing a Drop Z in white, exciting times trying to convince myself that I need another guitar 😂 Great work, man!
100% mate, I've got my ZONE setup in drop C and I've got a strat with a set in it as well setup in half step down and I cant get enough of them. I would love a drop Z in the high tide blue but cant justify one to myself yet haha
Today my dad gave his white bc Stratocaster to me, I’ve always loved the guitar and played it a few times and I must say its the best guitar I’ve ever played. The bc strat is from 08 so an older 1 but its still amazing. I will never sell this guitar bc its just to good, nothing compares to that guitar
Cool video. One thing I thought was actually how similar the sounds were across guitars. One thing that could be fun is if you go through the changes in Billy's rig / tone. From single coils to lace to p90 to hot rails to HBs. Explaining why he kept switching to get a different sound.
That's an awesome idea mate! I've actually been looking for a set of red/blue/silver lace sensors to do a Mellon Collie era build... might have to get onto that.
@@carsandguitarsI have an American strat with those installed. Bought it in 96 I do prefer my Z One however as it seems to have a more jack of all trades feel
Great video. I usually play a clean tone which has me leaning towards the BC Fender, but the Z-One is pretty cool too. Might I ask which you think gives more bang for its buck/AUD? To be honest, I'm not so interested in the BC-1
I definitely think the BC Fender is the more versatile and I genuinely love the clean tones from the 2 and 4 position (even the bridge is a great clean tone) Bang for buck is hard with the Fenders not popping up on the market very often but saying that i've seen them go for not much more than a brand new Z-One
@@peteranderson4075 Not worries mate, if you're looking for a Z-One in metallic freeze I've actually decided to sell mine... it's mint but second hand priced.
I regret not buying the signature strat back then...Nowadays, it's not easy to find one and the prices are pretty high. Z-one looks great but the strat is iconic.
The strats are like hens teeth these days for sure. I just restrung my Z-One with 11-52s and set it up in drop C... it's a monster but my white strat is still the guitar that all other are judged against.
Nice! The black ones seem to be pretty rare. I bought my white one new back in 09 and snagged a black one a couple years ago after a tonne of searching, such good guitars though!
To my ears it sounds like Billy tried to improve the Strat with the BC-1 and went off track a bit but then got back closer to the Strat with the Z. Both Reverends sound great but when played back to back with the Strat they don't compare. The Strat is amazing though and is perfection. Such much power without being muddy and a warm clean tone full of body. All positions sound great.
Probably the best description of the three yet! couldn't agree more. They all have their time and place but my BC strat is still the guitar that all others are compared to.
Ive got the identical Strat and BC-1 in black. Love them both. Agree the strat is more versatile. I really appreciate the Reverend however, great build quality and has more of that mid honk thing that Billy calls "cuff".
I could never afford a 2nd hand market Fender, but someday I hope to get a Z One. But then I’d want a new amp…and more pedals…lol I swear I still have the “official” Mellon Collie tab book from like 1998 somewhere…
The Fenders sell so quickly when they do pop up fo sale as well! You won't regret a Z-One, could be worth looking at a set of the pickups as well, I did a build with them and love it.
@@brianfoster4493 The thin nitro finish is super comfortable, great pickups that were only available on this specific guitar. USA made hardtail strats are a bit of a rarity which is sad because the configuration works well, the body is comfortable, the pickups are versatile and the tuning stability is excellent. Overall i just love how it plays, when i got it i was looking for a telecaster but i just instantly bonded with this instrument.
@@brianfoster4493 in my opinion, it’s a combination of the simple design (hardtail string through) plus the pickups and wiring, you can get so many varied tones out of it where you can dial in your own sound.
I remember that rig rundown… he was talking about one of his BC1s. I definitely think my white BC fender sounds better than my black BC fender… might be some truth to it! Haha

So awesome! I agree, they are absolutely stunning guitars. Enjoy it and play the shit out of it mate!
Really wish Billy would play more Strats and SG's again

Great vid mate. Zero one string definition is really impressive. All great guitars no doubt but i think for me Fender or Z1
Cheers mate! I’m with you, the Z-one is top tier for distortion but it’s beaten by the fender for versatility in my opinion
