12:53 I experienced something similar when I left Colombia. Never lived in the hood but I lived in La America and el centro in Medellin for a year. You never notice how much more alert and on edge you are there until you leave then you feel more relaxed.
its really not that bad . Lived in Medellin as an American Ex-Pat and there are entire areas filled with American ex-pats down there. A lot of day traders like myself
I had a similar experience. I visited a girl in Bello and the neighborhood wasn’t control of a gang. It was almost like the community watch group they don’t have police council or anything like that. They’re basically living on their own on the edge of the jungle, stealing electricity the water comes out of the tank. I fell. Welcome because I was with a family that I was close with so nobody asked me questions but I sunglasses a hat and a raincoat. Try to hide. Too many people make the mistake of moving into these areas and save money on rent and something bad happens and they are surprised because what you see on the service is not a reality. It’s just a fantasy that is built on the graveyard.
@@BushidoNomad thanks for keeping it real. I remember you were talking in one of your videos and I could see the way you were talking how you have that darkness inside you from seeing all the things that you’ve seen and I’ve seen it also living there for only two years, the fantasy has gone away and turned into a reality and there’s a lot of things I’ve seen and I heard that I wish I never did I would’ve been more happy being ignorant . ignorance is bliss but the truth will keep you alive.
I generally enjoy your videos but I think the gangsta stuff is silly and a bit braggadocios. No person wanting to visit a foreign country ever really wants to visit a place like Bello where only trouble can be found especially for a foreigner. Dumbass tourists always give countries a bad reputation. Also the gansta lifestyle only has 2 outcomes death or jail except for the lucky few that are able to escape that way of life. We are enthralled by movies like Scarface or Narcos that show the glamorous side but never the street thug just trying to scape by and live another day.
Cornball alert, I have web devs from Bello. He's just talking about his experience. Go there before you talk. They have some of the most popular schools to learn english.
@@markosweissingerwell I am a Medellin resident and I am married to a Colombian but I admit I never embraced the gangsta lifestyle, I am quite comfortable in El Tesoro enjoying the more upscale lifestyle. I am not sure that makes me a cornball . There are many good language schools all over Medellin so Bello would not be sought out for that, it is rumoured that the most beautiful women come from Bello so that is a plus. I have visited Bello and I spent time in the safer parts I guess but Bello has a bad reputation especially for gang violence and that is undeniable. So I would question the intelligence of any tourist going to Bello or any undesirable neighborhood. I say tourist because most residents avoid bad neighborhoods just like everywhere in the US. I still stand by the point that saying you are trying to live a movie worthy life is misleading because the gansta life is not glamorous unless you're on top. What is a web dev, not familiar with that term.
