Mic, it has been a while since I commented on your channel. This was exactly the kind of test I needed for winter sports in Canada. I asked you about this years ago. I think this enduro battery does make a lot of sense for cold weather filming. Thanks for the data!
Makes sense! The difference might be more dramatic when shooting at rates that drain more energy out of the battery, like 4k120
Yeah, high frame rates also make a big difference in the testing I've done with mine

What causes the batteries to "die" despite being at up to 20%? Even with normal temp, non continual shooting, my batteries always die at around 15%.
Not being able to output enough voltage in colder temperatures can easily cause batteries of any kind to prematurely die.

Not very cold in Tampa.
My concern is batteries swelling.
Recently noticed two of my blue top Hero8 batteries in my bag had swelled up. 🙄

Interesting to see what percentage they gave up at. My hero 6 has 2 (old) batteries that will always die around 2-3%.
Haven't finished the video yet but even just handling better in cold environments would be enough for me. Almost every time it's cold and I'm trying to capture footage I have battery issues with my Hero 8.

Wow, great review! I wished I would have seen it sooner. I bought the Endura batteries and I film in warm weather. But definitely will be buying regular batteries in the future for my type of weather.

9:58 and 11:03 This seems incomplete, a full card shouldn't count towards the battery endurance. I wonder how much longer the Enduro battery would be if you a new card in and continued the test?

What's the price difference between these batteries because that could sour the Enduros better performance if it cost to much
too bad they didn’t have this for the go pro 7. never worked when i went snowboarding
Were the camera and battery cold to begin with? I've found at -10 or - 20 with a non enduro battery the gopro will only stay on for a minute or 2 at a time.

it would have been better if you let the batteries get cold first before inserting them. i think that is the main reason that it does not last long or wont record at all.

Hola! una consulta: Recien me regalaron una GoPro Hero 5 Black, recuerdo que en el año 2016 compré mi primera GoPro Hero 4 Silver y lo usé hasta el año 2019. Ahora bien, como que tuve que formatear mi computadora, el programa GoPro Studio para Windows ya no existe más, ahora cual es el software oficial de GoPro? Esa es mi duda, ya que voy a volver a empezar a usar la Hero 4 y 5!

👌Good! But, Who make videos at 24Fps ??? 🤔 The real and useful test to me, is in +60Fps 4K! 💯 But, with this test, I believe this Enduro battery can reach the hour in normal and hot temperatures! 🏆

Thanks for the straightforward results! Some reviewers didn’t even say the time but just how many percentage better it was compared to the standard battery.
Gopro should discontinue the old battery make the enduro the norm. They are the same price.

Hey Micbergsma, the test you are doing In the freezer is flawed. Once the camera is turned on its producing heat. A better test would be to place the cameras in the freezer turbed off for an hour, then turn them on and see how long they last.
So you normally stick your camera outside in the cold for an hour before you decide to start filming something.
Yes would be good to do another test.. GoPro recommends to keep the battery warm while not shooting.. BUT I do get what you're saying if the camera is already mounted and hard to get battery in and out
@@leeware2117 I live in Canada, and when you do outdoor sports your camera is not recording 24/7. Often if it's sitting off mounted to your body/equipment/helmet when you go to turn it back on the battery life is significantly depleted and often unusable when your in cold weather
