- This is a brilliant six-minute call where a Celtic fan called out the shows panel and more specifically, Gordon Duncan, for the latest 'Ange has had 18 months longer' narrative that seems to defend Michael Beale.

Postecoglou walked into a situation that was totally different to the one Beale inherited.
He entered Scottish Football with absolutely no experience of the game in Europe let alone in Scotland from the Southern Hemisphere walked into a side who had come to the end of their effectiveness as a side with 3/4 key players wanting away and another 6 or 7 who needed moving on.
15 players in total have left Celtic since he arrived and as many have come in.
This was total rebuild built around 1 or 2 key men and a complete transformation of approach to the game.
Beale walked into the majority of the team he left behind under Gerrard and a side who had just been beaten in a major European Final who were been likened to the Lisbon Lions by some halfwits in the media.
There was more than enough for the tactical genius that is (according to the same halfwits in the media) Beale to build upon whereas Postecoglou is in the middle of a complete rebuild.
How these sycophants skirt around this is quite interesting.
The buck never stops with those making the bold claims in Scottish Football but rather gets refocused on those pointing it out.

Rangers have basically the same team that Beale managed with Gerard. The caller was bang on. If you are going to talk rubbish like that, Beale was intimate in a Rangers team that won the league and reached the final of the Europa League. How many years did Beale have at Rangers with a gap period in between down south? More than 18 months? It was a five minute job surely to get Rangers back on track?

Gorden said he needs to bring in his own players and see what style of football they'll bring and see what they bring to the table. That Isn't the way Ange works he brings in the player because they play the way he wants. Unlike a lot of past Celtic managers who bought players and tried to fit them into a team and they took months to settle Ange's players fit in immediately
He also bases his decisions on the temperament and attitude of prospective players. If they are unsure if they wish to play for Celitc, he doesn't try and convince them to come, he moves on to another prospect who DOES.

Beale would never have got the job in the first place and, no manager who ever took a job on to save a club from relegation, would be given the chance to do so? Plus, and this is the point, at no point did rangers say "we need to give Beale 18 months"? From day 1, Ange stamped his vision, philosophy and game style on the club and brought the fans along with him on the journey. Not getting that from a Beale. After 16 games at the helm still not sure what he wants this team to be.
I don't understand why Ange being there 18 months longer has anything to do with it, when Martin O'Neil came to Celtic, how many months was Dick Advocat in the job at rangers? How many months was Mark Warburton in a job at rangers before Rodgers came in at Celtic? Perhaps some pundits should be giving Ange more credit for the massive turnaround that he's achieved. Yes, we have money to spend but it's spending it correctly, we spend big when Lennon was buying the likes of Barkas and look what happened that season, the turnaround between our 20/21 squad to now has been immense.

The point is not about it being a criticism, what the 18 months comment does is it fails to give due credit to Celtic FC. It also fails to acknowledge that Rangers are in such a hole as to need to compare to Ange and his tremendous work. It’s the intellectual bankruptcy of the point that Tony has correctly identified. Soon as Ange came in, Celtic played football the way he wanted, that's why even when losing 3 of the first 6 games, Celtic fans stuck by Ange, because he had a clear identity. Beale has came in and Rangers look the exact same as they have done, not much change, yes a step up in performances, but still no style of football. That's the difference.
