Today's lesson: never recommend a book to a woman
I’m going to start recommending Wasp Factory.
Let me guess you opened a video not for entertainment but for hatred
@@robotdowney why?
Never read a book in your life honestly, learn carpentry
This video makes me wonder which books I've recommended to women who probably dislike me. I definitely feel like there's someone out there who is thinking Blood Meridian by Cormac Mccarthy is incredible, but the dude that recommended it is not worthy of having read it.
i'vfe defintely reccomended great books when i wasn't an especially good person. We learn and move on, i suppose.
now this is a fun concept
Now I feel bad only coworkers recommend books to me (and they’re usually coworkers I like).
Another book recommendation from a man - Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurtry.
Although you will see it on some folks lists, it still seems a bit underrated to me!
It is epic in scope but still digestible. The western for anyone who thinks they don't like westerns. It will make you laugh, and cry. Enjoy!
Poor boys. They should’ve known better
"Just calm the f**ck down and read a book" should be the BookTube mantra.
by men you mean white men right
I'm cackling at this concept
Got me wondering about the "men who recommended them to me" part. BookTube is predominantly (white) female. There are enough reviews, book hauls and recommends to go round. Maybe it's time to explore some more channels. Not to worry, the algorithms will do all the leg work🙂 That's how I got here in the first place😅
Then you’ll be pleased to know that these 6 books represent a fraction of a lifetime’s worth of reading :)
@@KcIsReading oh yes, I'm pleased to hear! Welcome to BookTube🙏
You give fun reviews! Thank you
My top five is Sebald, Sebald, Sebald, Sebald, Sebald
Love the format.
My book recommendations : )
Summer Book: The Wall by Marlen Haushofer
Great Overall Book: The Master and Magarita by Michail Bulgakow
Fav Sci-Fi Books: 1984 by George Orwell / Neuromancer by William Gibson, the Moon is a harsh Mistress by Robert A. Heinlein
Aaron not m in both such Sarah call for
need to check out all of these... btw r u on storygraph??
this shit genius
Can you explain why wallace is a 'contraversial' figure haha? ive never encointered this
He was psychically and emotionally abusive to fellow author Mary Karr. He also slept with students while he taught at university.
casually mildly hating on men is such a trend. Reviews were solid though
Dont hate men; quite attracted to them actually. Have even loved a few. Just happened to love these books more :)
I mean 99% of things irl and on internet are literally about hating women or making of their pain. This title sounds uplifting in this context, thanking men and openly liking them actually here 🫠
😂😂😂
I am just curious what it means: "People that you don't like". They were insulting you or beating you? What was the reason? Or you just too arrogant person? In that case I think people don't like you in the first place
This video sold me on your channel. I'm a bit taken aback by how aggressively gendered Booktube is (for both men and women), so your more self-aware approach felt like a breath of fresh air.
This is the funniest concept ever
the funniest thing about this is reading frustrated men comments
lmaoo love it
Why does this video give me flash back to the way "Valley Girls" talked?
Wow beautiful
Ironically - I think id like u more than the books.
I think people don't like him because of his abuse to women. When he passed the men who enjoyed and championed his book were stereotypically the same type of toxic. It was a pattern. I think as time has passed and newer generations read his work that stereotype has changed but it still has ahold on society's view. (Especially the way you described how people should just get over it and read and stop being scared.) However, separate the art from the artist, etc.
Is the upwardly inflictive vocal fry part of your online persona?
I see we're still policing women's voices in AD 2024.
😮💨dont make me subscribe
I love this concept. I also would like to see why these ppl recommended these books to you. I've had men recommend me books that I ended up loving, but we each ended up liking the book for different (his were wrong) reasons.
ok this is genius
unfortunately i have to subscribe after watching this
How could anyone resist this title?? Great review, and seeing this in my recommended gave me a good chuckle.
The next time you come across weird edgelords...run. Some serious weirdos out there.
Why is it on my feed
