  • NASA's Artemis 1 Space Launch System rocket finally took to the skies at 1:47 a.m. EST Nov. 16, 2022. Watch and listen to the sound of the rocket from the perspective of Kennedy Space centers press site (located about 3.5 miles from the launch pad). I personally recommend listening with headphones!

    That sound is absolutely incredible. Most video never has decent audio or plays the audio at all, but this is the real deal. I've always wanted to see a launch in person, but being out in California, doing so would be quite the expensive endeavor. S-II of the Saturn V was built about 1/4 mile from where i'm sitting right now. It's a shame they demolished the buildings just a few years ago, they were cool to look at.

    This is absolutely insane, for the second artemis mission with astronauts, would we need to pay to go where you were standing by the NASA timer, also did you drive there or was there a bus you can take? Thanks

    • @OrbitalVelocity
      @OrbitalVelocity  Год назад

      Where I was at was mainly for media and special guests, but there are other areas just as close that you'd have to pay for. The KSC visitors complex offers packages at the Saturn V center, but they are typically several hundred dollars.

    What is that light that pops out behind the countdown clock at T+00:00:44 ? It seems to fly over to the left towards the smoke plume, and behind it... And then re-appear to the left of the plume, It does not look like a lens flare, and sure can't be a shooting star, ? lol 🤔

      It took me a minute to find what you were talking about. It is light being reflected off of a bug. The source of the reflected light is likely several bright studio lamps that NASA had trained on the countdown clock lawn.

    • @bluescan92
      @bluescan92 Год назад

      Yeah, that's my conclusion also. but I found it strange that it seemed to go behind the plume. and then reappear on the left side of the plume :P Anyways, great video =D

    Why did the crowd started to cheer at 1:25 (t+1:18)?

    • @OrbitalVelocity
      @OrbitalVelocity  Год назад +1

      That was when the most intense sound and light started to really fade and the crowd, mostly silent once the sound started, erupted with joy. Think of it as a release of various different emotions.

      It was when the RS-25s throttled back up to full power. Essentially, the point where Challenger blew up. It's like a tradition when it comes to any Shuttle-derived rocket launch.
