(FIXED) Mazda backup camera not working (Mazda3): Here is a walk-through of how to repair a back up camera that has been malfunctioning.
PROBLEM: In this case, the camera wouldn't turn on at all and sometimes it would function, but not properly. Sometimes the camera had a bunch of lines through the screen. It has been about a month and this issue has not returned since we created this video.
RECALL: my friend received information in regards to a recall on this vehicle for this particular issue so if you're not interested in trying to repair this yourself definitely take it to your local dealer and they will take care of it at no cost. The catch will be that if the dealer does not have any of the parts currently available to make these repair, then it may take quite a bit of time before the repair or recall work can be completed.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! My reverse camera blinked out briefly this morning, came back on then went completely black. Found this video and spent this afternoon taking it apart. Pulled out the plug, put on some contact cleaner, bent the pins slightly and then tested. Worked perfectly. Saved me a few hundred dollars on what was probably just a dirty contact. Whole job took about 50 minutes because the instructions were so clear.

Maybe you can do a updated video if/when vehicle is taken into the dealership to get it repaired by them. Would be interesting to know what THEY would do.

I feel ya...Mazda had not sent that second recall letter where they actually have the parts to do the repairs (isolation paper or something like that). Thanks for your video. I am going to tackle this during the holiday break..it's a pain in the butt from the lack of response from mazda.

Almost 10 months later...
Mazda Canada says... issue was more wide spread than initially thought and parts are still not available. Mazda plan on getting bulk parts before fixing any vehicles? so lame.

We received a recall letter shortly after I created the video. The downside of the recall is they are not prepared for it, so you will be waiting a long time unless you want to take care of yourself.

What is stupid crazy funny is like 2 months before getting the 1st letter, I had random camera issues from rolling screen to, just blank screen and got worse during the time I received the letter.
Past two months, I have not experienced a single backup camera issue, YET.
Gonna demand a new parts the moment it becomes available.
