Thanks man it worked for me! And guys, when it prompts you for the password, just enter your password in anyway, even if it's not showing up as you type it, and hit 'enter'.

Would it leads to some bad side affect, like how when you try to use google chrome or safari and every time you search in google and instead leads you to yahoo.
Note that you must be logged into an admin account for the Terminal command to work. If you're logged into a standard account you will get the message: "(standard account name) is not in the sudoers file. This incident will be reported."

sorry, I don't understand when you say you have to be logged into an admin account?
oh, it worked now, I had to put this command line first "sudo cat /etc/secret.conf" then sudo spctl --master-disable and it worked, thanks again that saved me a lot of headaches

after I type in sudo spctl --master-disable the prompt for password comes up followed by a colon and key icon. I am unable to type my password or any text after this key icon.

man, just open Spotlight, type terminal, copy paste sudo spctl --master-disable, hit Enter, type your password and hit enter again. And immediately the option to install from anywhere is there.

There is no option for terminal on my Mac, what do I do
Press command+spacebar and search terminal.
Search for the terminal in the right up corner of your Mac where it shows that it is a magnifying glass. Click and then you search for terminal. If you do not find it, then terminal is a program that is already downloaded on your Mac and you can find it safely in programs. i'm not so good at pc / mac but two ghosts are better than one so wise there should be something, cheat i can help .. once I entered my password the terminal said that it is an invalid option, and it sent this long hash of codes. I went back to security and privacy, but the 'anywhere' option still isn't there... what do I do?
The option to allow an app now reappears when you run an app that has been disallowed, in the latest version of High Sierra 10.13.6.

I have a brand new 13" MacBook Pro (spring 2020) operating on Catalina. This worked to get me the "anywhere" download option, but even with that clicked I can't get my app to download. It comes up in my finder window/apps with a slashed circle, and won't open even when "anywhere" is selected. It worked fine on my old Mac laptop with the standard "anywhere" option selected, but on my new machine I get a message that says"The developer of this app needs to update it to work with this version of macOS. Contact the developer for more information.furtherMacrecommendations this?

i did set my password in terminal .then its showing my command name still not showing up anywhere in settings .pls suggest ,me
If I disable it load software then enable it again. It just stops future unknown software. I know it seems logical but with some things you never know. Correct?
