Thank you so much for wading into the deep weeds and bringing back the “Here’s what you need to know” on these awful topics, and even sharing the “But take heart - All is not lost” suggestions and resources for divorcing ourselves from Adobe. I don’t use the term “divorce from Adobe” lightly either. I’ve been a loyal fan and user of their products all the way back to Photoshop 2.1.4 back in 1994 (I’m talking the days before Photoshop even had layers.) I‘ve been locked in tight with Adobe for decades and had no problem with that, but you summed it up perfectly: it’s not the same Adobe that used to make the best image editing/creation/page design/video editing tools for a market of Creatives hungry and excited to use them. This “marriage” has gone abusive and we the users have been reduced to just feeding Adobe’s greed and who knows what else. Thank you also for the suggestions on how to get out and realize that it’s not 2003 anymore: They are no longer the only game in town. Much luck and blessings for your new channel.
Uhg! Your comment sums it up perfectly. I too grew up using only Adobe, and it wasn't until my eyes were open to the new world that I saw how toxic they were to us. Feels good to be able to spread our wings now.
The truth is while it may only be a few companies now. In the future it'll be all of them, it's just the competitors do not yet have ai features in them as they are behind.
Krita is better than photoshop anyways imo, and its free, i switched a couple months back, after photoshop corrupted psd file loosing an entire days work and now this drama... Good point about cara tho, it doesnt have the instagrams numbers, but i think its a good alternative for artstation, to have the portfolio sit somewhere safe from ai at least
Honestly. I use Linux and by that Krita. I like this program and it may be better that Photoshop, but only in drawing software part of it. When it comes to photo editing, Photoshop is still better. It's even better than Gimp. Although there's Photopea which is as good as Photoshop in image editing, or at least just a bit worse
I also love this. It feels like the design field is finally getting the attention it needs from the mass public. Now people who arent apart of the art world can be aware about how its affecting content in general. Kinda crazy, sad, exciting all at the same time. This might force change.
Thanks for this video. Very informative. I’ve been on the fence as far purchasing the monthly or annual subscription, and was obviously unaware of the ongoing issues concerning Adobe. Glad I was shown your video before potentially throwing away more money.
This is why its so important to build an email list from all your followers across all your socials. This way you can reach them directly no matter the status of the social platforms
I'm not sure how this narrative of "Cara is going to be a Instagram Killer/replacement!" got started, but its very annoying. It was never meant to be that. If Cara was ever meant to replace anything, it is way more inline as a replacement for something like Deviantart or Artstation, a social portfolio platform for artists. "For artists by Artists" its an app meant for artists. And as you said, Artists are only a tiny fraction of the Instagram population. People assuming it would kill instagram is just kinda silly.
I think it was just a narrative the artist community created to jar up some drama 🙃 Even though yes, I agree with all the reason artists are leaving IG Cara is no IG killer, far from it.
GIRLLL you had me at 0:38!!! 😅 Really I appreciate this video so much. I agree, I don't think Cara is going to be any replacement for Instagram, even though Instagram does kind of suck. The Adobe thing is so wild, too. I've never had a subscription because I'm cheap (and not a professional). 🤣 But I seriously appreciate you sharing that list of Adobe alternatives. Also, you've got me wanting cabbage now. I love your vibe!!
So glad I found your channel! I love interacting with small channels. I loved your video. I will most probably never stop using adobe because they provide me too much value (I am a video editor using premiere, after effects and photoshop since forever), but I did ask Meta to not use my data to train AI, also just made a Cara account thanks to your video. Thanks! Wish you well with your channel!
aww thank you! no hate to anyone still using Adobe of course. I understand it's still a standard for most people and professions! And good luck with your new Cara acct!
@@leena.things I am mainly using any social media platform to connect with other people I could potentially work with either creators or other filmmakers/editors/writers etc because I build teams for my clients and I need to find those talents; if I network with at least one person, the Cara account is worth it for me :D
Sometimes I really wonder if millennials are just under attack. Our generation has not been able to make money, fall in love, get married, have kids, own a home or use their degrees. Most of us wanted to pursue creative careers and it feels like even this is just being taken from us. All we get is a degree, debt, living with our parents in our 30s, singleness, broken dreams and the potential of the death of our country, and endless politics and war.
I think we need a new twitter tbh. Twitter was soooo great for artists to get out of the "art bobble" and have their work seen by regular people. From personal experience about 2 years ago I made a RWBY fanart just cuz I wanted some cool sword of scythe to make a 3D model of, just as practice, and it popped of on twitter out of nowhere it's by far my most seen piece of art. But twitter is been completely destroyed and we don't have any good replacement for it so far. Apps like Cara are great for finding inspiration tho, appreciating great works of art fills one's soul.
Yea I agree, I feel like Threads was trying to do that, but again Threads is also Meta 😅 I did love seeing art on Twitter myself too, but it's such a downer to go to the comments and just see shit posts following it 🙃
yeaaa unfortunately adobe still has a chokehold on most of the professional creative field :c they'll have to start really rioting before adobe does something.
Users should have turned their backs on Adobe already when the company switched to the totally ridiculous and over priced subscription model. Not being an artist myself but but a software developer for more than 30 years, I can clearly say that in my field no company could ever afford to pull off something like this without a massive exodus to alternatives - most of them even from open source. It is about time that the case of Adobe is a warning to all companys who think their customers are only there to nod to every business decision that is being made. The current case of 'Stable Diffusion' is similar in this regard.

Meta doesn't care, and never cared about artists. Meta is advertising revenue based. It only cares about number of views. Views of what? It doesn't care. Unfortunately Cara is not yet ready for prime time. The best place for an artist to show their work is their own website. Adobe figures it's current users will stick with them (at least most will), so the challenge is how to get new users to pay their outrageous subscription fees. The trick is to let AI do all the work so the users need less actual skills.
Completely agree! I love the idea of a website, hope to do that for myself someday. And yes, Adobe has a steep hill to climb now that they've spoiled their own water 😐
