Inversely, lying about such accusations to the point where they effect a person's ability to make a living, like in Zero's case, while not criminal is also illegal. So if they were false accusations Zero could sue for libel in civil court and potentially make the accuser pay for loss of income. It is much easier to make that type of defamation suit in civil court than it is to get charges to stick in criminal court, even if a person has publicly admitted to committing the crime. So the fact that she hasn't pressed charges doesn't really vouch for his innocence, but that fact that he hasn't sued for defamation kind of further incriminates him. Also it's not really a question of believing the victim or believing Zero, when they essentially have given the same account of events. If he had disputed the accusations, it would be fair to maintain that he is Innocent until proven guilty. That is how our justice system works. But you're not even taking "his side" by insisting he is Innocent, since he himself would disagree with you.

@@basil1284 I mean the accusations against him are technically criminal, so if the victim's really wanted to they could take him to court. Inversely, lying about such accusations to the point where they effect a person's ability to make a living, like in Zero's case, while not criminal is also illegal. So if they were false accusations Zero could sue for libel in civil court and potentially make the accuser pay for loss of income.
It is much easier to make that type of defamation suit in civil court than it is to get charges to stick in criminal court, even if a person has publicly admitted to committing the crime. So the fact that she hasn't pressed charges doesn't really vouch for his innocence, but that fact that he hasn't sued for defamation kind of further incriminates him.
Also it's not really a question of believing the victim or believing Zero, when they essentially have given the same account of events. If he had disputed the accusations, it would be fair to maintain that he is Innocent until proven guilty. That is how our justice system works. But you're not even taking "his side" by insisting he is Innocent, since he himself would disagree with you.
