“we put the K in Kliffhanger!” You are a funny man! Taill fin looks awesome, I would never have believed it possible from what you started with. Keep the fabulous funny fabrication work coming! Ken
Great job on the filming Doug and Mark. I always love it when I get to the primer stage. That’s when I can step back and see the real picture. Looking great.
Nice work Doug! It's always rewarding to see some payoff for the hard work and long hours🎉 and thanks Mark for improving the videos! Keep up the great work!!
Dam good show Doug yer my new super hero . If ya never been one before , ya are now I been a huge DD Speed shop fan couldn’t get enough ! Now they seem to have lost love of the following they made . I was a big Big Dons Garage ( tri5 guy) but he kinda stopped makin videos . If ya haven’t figured it out we’re all fickle fans I watch the guys that kinda show cuse and teach , which is what I’m getting from yer channel I still watch ya all but when I watch yer work amd dedication ( maybe because yer just a one car at a time like the rest of us . Makes all the difference I’m almost 63 and yer keepin me goin . They just did neck amd shoulder work 2 weeks ago on me as soon as it quits hurting so bad , I’m goin back out. To weld that rocker in and then the full floor . A pillar repair and tail panel will come after have new toes boards in boxes and front lower quarter patch panels both sides in the box prayin for first drive late June . Still gotta build the 355 (350) bored already pistons cam 2.02/1.90 heads eldo performer intake 55-56 headers 3 inch stainless exhaust. Already did front end and disc convergence have tilt column too amd full set of rear brakes shoes hardware and drums new heater core if I can just get a few more yrs out of this old carcus of mine . I’ll try and get pics to yer fb padge
Thanks Willie!Your project sounds awesome! I hope you feel better soon so you can get back to it.And yes,I'd love to see some pictures of it! Take care
That looks great with primer. That top section of the quarters are leaded and foward about 2 ft between the top of the quarters to the window channel. No one makes that piece for Nomads as well. If your tailgate hinges are pretty rusted, soak them in vinegar for a week to free them up. I did that first then wire brushed mine clean before I rebuilt them and saved a couple of hundred bucks which I could put toward something else, like welding gas.
Hey Doug. Looking great cruising rite along. I guess if you look from underneath you might see the lead joint. The cats funny. Welding banging sanding Chemical smell. They just hang in. Its pretty cool. You Got company👍. Happy new year. Enjoy the ride to the end. 👍👍✌️🇬🇧
Doug, I imagine you are going to make the nomad look like your 56 and the 57 I think thats what I would try to do, but I think it would be cool to not grind down your welds and no filler no paint let the scars show to show what you went through and what that old cars been through. I really like what your doing and I really like that black 57, see you next time.
Just think Doug if there was no Bondo,LOL! and you had to use lead, everywhere . I like using shortstrand fiberglass Bondo first for filling then Bondo filler being shortstrand fiberglass is waterproof and Bondo isnt,LOL! That corner looks like new great job!!
Doug that corner came out great ! I knew those hinges were going to be a problem when you said that they are on back order. I just hope that pair you have are good enough to be rebuild. Every video is better than the last.
Hopefully this channel can grow and you get some recognition. Maybe a collaboration with DD Speedshop may help or just his mention of your attempt here to make a vehicle few would understand how its done
Thanks Morgan! Dan is aware of my project as he has commented on a couple of my videos. He and Dani did mention me on a live stream once but not by name LOL.
The right side in primer really looks good. Nothing like getting itnall in one shade. The sedans had lead in about the same area as you found in the fin. Definitely factory. 55s even had a leaded seam from the bottom of the tailight down to the bumper.
DO I HEAR YOUR "RADIO"?? OOOOPS :) I SEE YA CAUGHT IT ~ I USE TO GO TO OLD MOVIES WITH THOSE "K"LIFFHANGERS... WAS A BUMMER IF YOU DIDN'T MAKE IT BACK TO SEE WHAT HAPPENED... "AUTOMOTIVE ARCIOLOGY" HAHA GOOD ONE SON ♥
looking good mister, i hope you don't mind but i reached out to Dan at D&D speed shop he was going through boxes and heard him say something about Nomad parts(trim I think) so i mentioned you were having trouble finding hinges and that you may be able to help each other out as i see you both (with respect)hoard what you might need and I feel this you tube car community help each other out, not expecting anything but it's nice to help the nice or at least try. I really hope you don't mind
Doug, have your nephew Mark to video “Landscape” not “Portrait”, other than that, Mark is doing a great job on video & editing, the NO-MAD is looking good. 👍🏻
Thanks for that advice, I just found out 20 minutes ago what the difference was between the two 😅. I might be a “millennial” but I was never raised like one lol. I’m learning more as I go. I want to try to help my uncle grow his channel and following as much as possible. He deserves it. He’s got so much knowledge on old cars and restoring them. Especially body work. Wait till you see his others he’s done.
@@ellisfamilyMSCRThat’s great your helping out your Uncle with his project, doing the video and editing, both of you are doing a fantastic job, really enjoying the content, keep it up. …. Cheers Mark!
Everyone has confidence that you fix the hinges, but as George and the Beatles said "Do what you want to do, and go where you're going to, Think for Yourself" Judging by your work on the door jambs, I think that you have it in you, to conquer the hinges
I know the measurements say it will fit.I'm sure it's like all lift gates and will be sprung in the corner. If it is,I'll figure out some way to straiten it.Thanks John!
@ that’s where I an with my project. Finished installing the tailgate cable retractors yesterday, next is the liftgate. Because of the debacle with Madmooks I own 2 liftgates. The replacement looks like it’s not bent and will fit, I know the one that came with car is bent and I’m trying to figure out a way to fix the curve. Some people have bent them cold, others have carefully heated it and coaxed it back to shape.
Hey Doug I'm sorry about classic industries. I also wanted to let you know that I'm out here in California and I heard about a place called ( long roof ) I personally have not dealt with them yet but I hear that all they deal in is used and I'm not sure about new parts but it's all wagon parts look them up
Hey Doug wondering why your filming format changes from full screen to 1/3rd screen. Are you using a cell phone for some of the shooting. Just trying to understand. Thanks SPYDA
Yes we’re using multiple cameras to get a feeling of which ones work better for quality of sound and view. I’m still learning all the ins and outs of “filmography” 😅forgive my shotty work. It’s not my uncles fault on that. 🫡🇺🇸
I always lived by the rule. make it look like you did not earn your money because looks like you did not do anything, Always had happy customers just the ones that were not customers though my prices were to high. If this were my car I would be a happy customer seeing how great in looks under primer.
Thank you! I had my body shop for 10 years.I was a one man operation.I never advertised my business and yet I had more work than I could handle. No ad beats good word of mouth!
Great job on the filming Doug and Mark. I always love it when I get to the primer stage. That’s when I can step back and see the real picture. Looking great.
Hay Mark thanks for helping Doug out here your both doing great thumbs up..
Thanks Steven!

Thank you Daniel,we both appreciate it!

Thanks Doug and Mark for this great content!
You're welcome and thank you Ed!
Truly plenty of fussy work put into the tailgate area and fins, but like your door jams, the results are GREAT!!!
Thanks Wayne! The Devil is in the details...

Thank you very much John!
Right rear tail came out great !!!
Thanks! I like finishing little bits here and there. It gives me hope LOL!

That's Craftsmanship!

Thank you Blake,that's very kind!

Thank Dan! I don't have anything against that look, but I can't bring myself to stop short of shiny new paint...
I hate drilling metal, I'm always waiting for the drill bit to break. Take care
Yeah Peary,it seems like they don't make drill bits like they used to...
Thanks! I like to use short strand strait on heavily welded areas and mixed into filler as a base coat when needed.
@@EllisKarKustoms-v9j Is that Jerry Garcia in the thumbnail?????
LOL!
Doug that corner came out great ! I knew those hinges were going to be a problem when you said that they are on back order. I just hope that pair you have are good enough to be rebuild. Every video is better than the last.
Thanks! Hopefully,if I tackle the old hinges they don't suck up too much time...
Great job. It’s coming along nicely 👍👍
Thank you Shane!
Looking good, keep up the great work. One piece at a time.
Thanks Lewis!
Hopefully this channel can grow and you get some recognition. Maybe a collaboration with DD Speedshop may help or just his mention of your attempt here to make a vehicle few would understand how its done

Looking amazing ❤❤❤
Thanks Red!
Good job Doug, the doner cars were pretty crusty, you have demonstrated that they can be grafted and brought back to life. Good work Mark!
Thanks Robert!
The right side in primer really looks good. Nothing like getting itnall in one shade. The sedans had lead in about the same area as you found in the fin. Definitely factory. 55s even had a leaded seam from the bottom of the tailight down to the bumper.
Thanks JC! They definitely didn't spare the lead back then LOL!
That right side looks amazing, built is looking better each video.
Thank you very much Edward!
Wow great results for the opening. A few metal bits and viola!
Thanks!
The back looking great!
Thank you Dee!
Looking good, can't wait till it's sitting in my up-state driveway!

Man Doug that is looking real nice awesome job

The right tail fin area in primer looks great!
Thanks John,it gives me hope! LOL
Tell your nephew to hold the camera the right way lol otherwise love your work! Can't wait to see what colors you paint it
Thanks Nick! He is learning along with me.We'll get it figured out...
The right way was facing him lol, but I’ll figure it out so we can get the best videos we can

Doug, have your nephew Mark to video “Landscape” not “Portrait”, other than that, Mark is doing a great job on video & editing, the NO-MAD is looking good. 👍🏻

Looks great!!! How about drilling the hinges and installing oversized pins? Most auto parts stock a variety of them..
Thanks! I may get the rebuild kit they make to re-bush the hinges. The price is reasonable.
Your camera work seems better ⛄
Thank you Mike!

Doug, I think you would have no problem rebuilding the gate hinges. Would love to see you do it.
They won't be very fun Mike, but they can be saved.
Nice work.
Thank you!
Hi Doug, ask your nephew to turn the camera to get full screen…it’s hard to see what you’re doing in the small frame. Anyhow keep it up buddy 👍
Thanks Dennis! He actually did turn the camera this time but it still didn't do full screen dang it LOL.We'll get it straitened out.
Yes sorry we’re both learning as we go definitely taking the advice it’s appreciated.
Good job!
Thanks Henry!
Do you know yet how your liftgate fits? Won’t be long and it will be time to fiddle around with that.
