Wintersun’s second album (Time 1) consists of 5 songs and so now you’ve heard three of them. Only those three are in these live rehearsal videos.
Jari Mäenpää (blond guitarist + singer + saver + lyricist) announced his new plans on Facebook a couple of weeks ago. He is making four new albums!
Time 2, which seems to be an eternity project. And Jari still didn't give it any information about getting it out. Said for the same reason as before, not a good enough studio. fun fact ..., Kai has already done drumming for that album !!! A couple of years ago! (2015?)
Then comes an album of what Jari called the term space metal. I don't know what that means. He also didn't want to open it, said you would hear then ...
Then comes one album that is a return to the roots. That is, the sound world that was on the first album.
In addition, there will be an album of which he said nothing. Said it will be a surprise.
Wintersun’s last album was released in 2017 (The Forest Seasons). It contains only four songs progressing according to the seasons. Spring> summer> autumn> winter. Many want to jump straight to the last song here, but I myself would recommend listening to the album in song order. Jari has had an idea why they are like this.
Holy shit I hope I live to see those albums. You mentioned an album that is a return to the first one’s roots? God yes. The first album had my favorite sounds and my personal favorite is land of snow and sorrow from time 1. I think I will literally die listening to time 2

You need to listen to some Old Ensiferum songs. Jari is The singer in that band back then. Little Dreamer is a good choise. Token of Time and many more 👍

You should give a listen to something from the self titled debut album. Jari is playing all the instruments on that album. (except for the drums that are played by Kai). It's a bit more straight forward metal... I would recommend the album version of "Battle Against Time"

Would be cool to see some Rivers of Nihil on the channel. The Silent Life or A Home are good ones from their last album.
Why does most pick out only Kai? I know he is awesome at the drums :) But this is about the whole band. In this song the focus are mostly at the guitarists and the most amazing guitarist and vocalist ever :) And i love this tone by them! The lead singer IS wintersun
I guess it is because Kai has had medical issues and he is sort of "old guy" compared to the rest. Then again lead has only 1,5 lungs so hard to tell. But realistically, it is because he is from Nightwish.
What comes to skills, these 2 bands are on the par, maybe Wintersun is more skillful just a bit, something Holopainen covers with "mighty sounds", Wintersun can go to details.
In the end, both bands are formed from long time metal veterans of Finnish metal bands, they are top of the row in both bands, except in Nightwish after Tarja.
