I tease and play around. If I tease and touch ( playful way, not sexual) I like you. It is confirmation or acknowledgement of the relationship or bond. I do this with my wife and kids. On the other hand, with strangers and acquaintances relationship. I avoid physical contact (aside from a handshake).
I’m an INFJ and have been married to my ISTP husband for nearly 16 years. My husband doesn’t show many emotions but they are in there. Talking about them makes him uncomfortable. He needs time to process and think about what he wants to say. I’ve gotten only two genuine compliments in out 19 year relationship. But that doesn’t mean he doesn’t love me. And I know he loves me because he works (without complaint) to provide for me and the kids. He has never made me feel anything but equal to him in this family. He acknowledges that even though I don’t earn money, my contribution is equal to his. He clears the snow from my car, helps with the dishes, massages the tension out of my shoulders, built an in-law apartment for my parents, packs his lunch even though he’d rather buy it, and many other things. Countless things. My daughter is an INFP and let me just tell you that INFPs are awesome. It definitely takes work but ISTPs are totally worth it.

Having someone you can love and appreciate and who loves and appreciates you without having to be someone you’re not. ISTPs are not often well understood, so we really appreciate being understood, and I’m sure that’s one of the things your husband loves about you.

I’d say you have to be direct without coming off as strong. So, try to conversate more, compliment him on things, be playful around him. Personally, if you are not the one to dress up, that’s fine. I would think he’d respect you more if you did what you wanted to do because you want to do it. If he has no obvious reason to talk to you, he won’t do it. Make him have a reason to. As terms as who we are into, that depends on the ISTP, but a pattern has emerged where I do like XXFJ’s, so if he’s the same, I guess you have a decent shot. Good luck!
Hey I know this is 3 years too late but for anyone who comes across this, ask them for help fixing something. It can give you a quiet moment together where you can get a real conversation about life and so on. ISTPs are a hard nut to crack sometimes. But INFJs are the ones that excel at that.
I'm 37, I learned I'm an ISTP from an acquaintance. Your life this far is what I'd live through. Though I had a different approach to relationships with women because they always found me cute. But I never got the cues from flirting. Most of them are drawn to me after talking to me, since I enjoy talking to women in general. They are drawn to the ISTP sincerity and straightforwardness.

Big difference - ISTP are much better at physical things. INTP are generally not very good at physical things. INTP are more abstract and philosophical. They are theoretical. ISTP are more practical. They are actually quite different.

Dude you were only 12. I had a serious crush between the ages of 14 and 16 and totally relate.. i didnt even think of him in sexual attraction, only romantic. (Even grossed me out thinking abt it) He was the first, and i developed a sort of friendship over the summer. Never told them about my feelings though. But since ive grown up attraction attitudes to other people have grown and changed. It took a very long time to get over him as well, and im not even sure im over completely. Dude you were only 12. I had a serious crush between the ages of 14 and 16 and totally relate.. i didnt even think of him in sexual attraction, only romantic. (Even grossed me out thinking abt it) He was the first, and i developed a sort of friendship over the summer. Never told them about my feelings though. But since ive grown up attraction attitudes to other people have grown and changed. It took a very long time to get over him as well, and im not even sure im over completely. Maybe attraction never dissapears, but what develops and changes is love and appreciation.
