Kudos to you just for deciding to react to this film, more people should and need to react to this version of Christmas Carol cause I truly believe it’s one of if not the best versions of this story
This is my favorite version. George C. Scott has a very unique voice, incredible range, and powerful delivery. Your analysis was outstanding! It's always special to see a review from someone who has a background in cinema. I would love to see a review where you speak entirely in Russian with English subtitles while you watch classic "American" movies. It would be a fun way to learn Russian and I'd appreciate the Russian perspective of American cinema. First class editing, as always. Please keep doing more episodes!
It's great that you learn the language too! We can always help each other! My dream is to learn to speak English beautifully and easily! I love English!
@@abarsukovafilmed in the beautiful town of Shrewsbury where I grew up. The writer of A Christmas Carol, Charles Dickens often stayed in Shrewsbury so fitting that it was filmed there.
This is my favorite version. George C. Scott is my favorite interpretation of Scrooge. Also love the cinematography especially with the Ghost of Christmas Future
The Ghost of Christmas Future helped influence me as a child for my artistry. Such a powerful and thought provoking imagery. This whole movie funnily enough was artistically inspiring for me. This is definitely the best version.
There is a wonderful version of this that was made for television in 1999 and stars Patrick Stewart as Ebenezer Scrooge. It actually delves more into the character's early years, the relationship with his sister and losing the love of his life and how he became more and more bitter. Certainly worth a watch for anyone interested. BTW, today is my birthday so I'm wishing every single person who reads this (and everyone who doesn't) the very best for the new year. We all deserve a MUCH better 2021. Stay safe everyone. Cheers from Florida.
Dear friend! I sincerely congratulate you on your birthday !!!!! May the new year bring you only joy and peace! Happiness, joy and good luck! Happy Birthday!!!
..... great reaction!... don't forget it was made for television in 1984... So even with limits to special effects from being a tv production, all involved in making this tv special, did a superb job.❤
Finally, someone reacts to "A Christmas Carol," the most traditional Christmas story (other than the nativity). Thank you. The 1951 version is very good too. I enjoyed watching your reaction. Do more movies, please.
I love "A Christmas Carol", I read the book every year a day during Christmas time. I also love this movie adaption and I use to watch it every year during christmas or the adaption from 1999 with sir Patrick Stewart as Scrooge (Usually I use to watch both).
My absolute favorite version, and the most faithful to the book, although a few things have been changed? Most elements are intact and I've seen better representations of more specific moments from the book in other versions. But this is the version I watched repeatedly for GCSE English many years ago, so it has a special place in my heart. 🎄
The conclusion I can draw after watching the movie is "A Christmas Carol" : A very instructive and touching Christmas story. I would like to note the excellent direction of Clive Donner. The combination of the tragic and the comic in the film creates a truly enchanting effect. As well as the wonderful music of Nick Bicât, which is etched into the memory for a long time. This version is my favorite. I think if you ask anybody what is their favorite version of "A Christmas Carol", they'll either say the 1951 version, starring Alistair Sim, which is very good also, or this version. I enjoyed your review, and I agree with you about the music. Music adds so much to a story, probably more than we realize. You're the first person I've heard mention that. I hope you review other versions of "A Christmas Carol" I would love to see that. The 1971 animated version is very good, even though it is short. I also like the 1970 musical version with Albert Finney, even though they totally change the "Ghost of Christmas Future" segment. And the "Muppets Christmas Carol" is also very good.
I've seen them all including The Muppet Christmas Carol with Michael Caine (#2 on my list). This is my favorite. George C Scott (Patton, The Hospital, Petulia, The Changeling) was a very dynamic actor who's range of emotion was very broad. Nice reaction 👍
Thanks a lot for the comment! Maybe someday I'll look at all the versions)). Well, in the meantime, I'm preparing a new reaction to an old American comedy film. Let me keep the title of this movie a secret for now)). See you soon!
the story has been remade many times, some better than others. But the message is timeless to remind everyone the true spirit of Christmas and to remember the joys of life.
That's the good thing about "A Christmas Carol". There are countless versions of it, but it seems like each one puts their own spin on it, but they still remain somewhat faithful to the original source, so you still get the gist of the story.
This is my favorite version of A Christmas Carol George C. Scott is my favorite Scrooge It's not hard to see why he hates the holiday so much if you look into his past The love of his life abandoned him His best friend and business partner died And his sister who he loved more than anything also died All around the holiday season The holiday is a harsh reminder of how alone he really is So he internalizes his pain and lashes out at anyone who finds joy in the time of year that brought him so much suffering
This is not my favorite version (that honor goes to the Alistair Sim version), but I will admit Scott played the most stubborn and unrepentant rendition of Scrooge--constantly trying to justify himself to the spirits. While I think that's apropos for Scott as an actor, I also think it kind of takes away from the story. Like the audience is supposed to want to see Scrooge repent...not get what's coming to him.

The Albert Finney Scrooge Musical is a favorite as well.
This is also my absolute favorite version, followed by the Muppet version.
Excellent 👍. Each of us has our own preferences. I haven't decided which version I like the most yet.
Same here.
Yes! You watched my favorite version of this story!!! It's so good!
Mine too! Happy New Year!
@@abarsukova And to you also!
16:18 Agh the way the ghost derives smile-forming pleasure in twisting the knife in Scrooge with his own words for the last time... dude likes his job

My favorite version with so many of the other viewers. Beautiful reaction and wonderful insights… keep’em coming!
Your emotional reaction was cathartic to observe.
Thank you very much 😊! I thank you for your feedback!💞
My second favoriete version.
Mine too, after Alistair Sim (1951).

I also liked this version, my friend! I am glad that our views coincide!
wonderful reaction to a great story and film
your golden demeanor and hair is most lovely.. merry christmas
Another lovely reaction.
This is arguably the best.
I love the 1999 Patrick Stewart version because it is supposed to be very close to the book.
The 1951 version, starring Alastair Sim, is my favorite, though this one is very good.
I really want to see the 19851 version! Many people advise me to do this. This is curious!

a good version of the story , but the best is the 1951 version , with alastair sim in the part of scrooge ! a true classic !

This is the version of A Christmas Carol I grew up on and absolute fave. Thanks for watching it.

I couldn't help but tear up a little at Scrooge's redemption scene.
Thank you very much. :)
This is my favorite version of A Christmas Carol
George C. Scott is my favorite Scrooge
It's not hard to see why he hates the holiday so much if you look into his past
The love of his life abandoned him
His best friend and business partner died
And his sister who he loved more than anything also died
All around the holiday season
The holiday is a harsh reminder of how alone he really is
So he internalizes his pain and lashes out at anyone who finds joy in the time of year that brought him so much suffering
There is also a Netflix version of this movie
They are hidden in plain sight. Unfortunately.
🤝
My all-time favourite version will be 1999 starring Sir Patrick Stewart.
Everyone has their own!))

You would enjoy "The Man Who Invented Christmas" if you liked this one
Thanks for the advice! I'll watch this movie.
Check out Scrooge 1970 my favourite version. The 1984 version is amazing dark spooky with alt of heart
