Mike is a big deal.. if you get the chance to talk to him, you would never know it. Such a cool dude and amazing father if you see him with his kids. There are many "clean cut racers" that will never have that. Keep on Godfather,, your doing it right. Ping and Grant are doing a fantastic job at these.. I hope they dont stop with the content.
My dudes, it’s such a privilege to have the experience with our dads,as you where discussing. These are some of the greatest times we are so lucky to have had. It’s you and you dad as a team that triumph’s. It’s doesn’t get any better, good times.
Have never really been a freestyle side of the sport fan. Admire what they do, just not my thing. But just watching this as one that I skipped at the time, I thought was fantastic. Possibly now a Mike fan. Definitely follow him on Insta. I need to see his art. Was nothing like I expected. 👊
Great to see Mike on the show. It was so cool to see him walk into Odyssey for some bicycle parts and he even invited me and my friends to come out to his place to ride, over 20-years ago.
What a great show, really good content. Thank you Whiskey Throttle for making it happen and thank you Mike for taking us through your life. Truly fascinating!
Marty and his wife...so sad but at the same time...they both went together and doing what they loved. Who could ask for more. Prayers to their family and friends.
arrrhhhhh the godfather 🤘🤘🤘 I was racing 80s in nz in the 90s haha, metz came to most of us (moving at least)via the terrafirma and crusty vids and whether you were a supercross, moto or freestyle fan he was a dude! (freestyle didnt really exist at the time, they were as he said called expression sessions) he may not have been the fastest but he had a rad style and a magnetic vibe that kept you glued, he was exiting, eccentric and you never knew what might happen, the fun side of moto oozed from him , you could tell he was all in,but he seemed a lot more laid back than most especially for a pro, he didn't seem like he gave a rats about establishment (Deegan also)and I think most racers can feel that to some degree?def think he deserves his place in history for birthing the bastard child we all know as freestyle moto.and it was sad to hear that relationship had strained in later years but when you take somthing that people have been evolving for the love of it then make rules and regs and make it a job,not suprised.Tho i did have his bad ass don't G A F image shattered by talking with someone he hung out with in Aussie while filming T4 I think or 3 ? I didn't know about the moto xxx story an all that,it was an impact and I remember the companies that followed, skin ect,it was interesting to hear his take on all of that cause to be fair most of us racers (born 84) wanted to be, as hard as henry,as smooth as jeremy and go big like metz 🤘✊🤘✊anyway just like my country was in the 90s I'm way behind, and feeling nostalgic one evening I discovered this little ripper of a channel and while watching the goat interview I thought, where is the god father now?and blow me down the whiskey throttles got that covered too✊ great job boys keep it up!love the format love the sponsors love the yarns boys don't care if I can't see you it's all about the yarns!fucken rock on the godfather🤘🤘🤘chur from nz
Yeah Mike, I can remember a room in the Corona house filled with trophies and you gave me one with no head. "The headless dork trophy" since I couldn't win. I remember long drives to the jobsite with your dad with no radio and if you fell asleep he would give you a horse bite. Where Ted would grab and squeeze the inside of your thigh and it would leave a bruise for a week! So freaking painful. Cure you real quick from falling asleep. Good times, hi to momi and pops for me. Great podcast David, keep up the great work Mis yall
About FMX riders in the past, Edgar Torronteras once won both Prince of Bercy (125cc event with a couple of AMA guys, Frenchies, etc) and the FMX portion on the same weekend. That's mind-blowing, nobody ever did that on the same season (TP199 never won X-Games and an AMA pro title on the same year IIRC). For me, FMX needs to turn straight into speed & style and best trick. Make some supercross/arenacross event, build a couple of decently-sized jumps using FMX ramps (or care A LOT about the takeoff if it's dirt-to-dirt) and then have a speed & style competition. You can make S&S events either go the typical knockout way OR, if riders hate tricking side-by-side too much (understandable), go for the "ski moguls" way (solo runs where the score comes from both tricks and your time).
You guys need to get a set up like the Joe Rogan podcast. This camera is to far and doesn’t give a personal feel during conversation. Regardless you guys are great and Metzger is the man 🤙🏻
Hey god dammit Donny! Check this out! I think this old vet supercross is a great idea they could call it the "red bull grey rhythm" Or " red bull straight arrhythmia" Huh?! Great show guys, love you Donny!
There is video of the 1993 AMA Motocross 125cc race at Glen Helen: Mike Metzger didn't get the holeshot (Jeff Emig did and I can't see any 3-digit Suzuki up front) while #123 David Pingree crashed right in front of the camera after hitting the backwheel of some 3-digit Kawasaki rider (it could be Robbie Reynard, unsure). There is some red-wearing 3-digit Suzuki rider on 3rd during the first lap, that one is Metzger. Doug Henry won on a Honda after starting right behind Emig, who finished 4th.
It's hard to imagine kids being paraded around the country to race by parents that were more into it than they were. I never knew that about Metzger. It's pretty clear that you had to have a Dad (or Mom) totally into this sport to succeed.
fox1nz cmon man. It looks great. !! What do you think is going on in the world right now that would force them to temporarily relocate !! 🙄awesome shoes guys 👍
I ran over him in a race once on 80's. He crashed off a blind side jump in the golden state series. North vs. South. I was from the North. I think his number was x22 then. I had no where to go just wheelied over him. Close battles back then.

Mike Metzger in Terrafirma. Man those memorys, still have all the scenes clear in mind! Your the best, Metz. Good to know your still there. :)

That was awesome! Metz is such legend. Miss watching him ride 🤘
Liked before even listening. Seen him up in big bear and around. Cool guy
Great to see Mike on the show. It was so cool to see him walk into Odyssey for some bicycle parts and he even invited me and my friends to come out to his place to ride, over 20-years ago.
Couldn’t hit the play button any faster Man I haven’t seen Mike Metzger in a while
Great show, what a cool guy Metzger is!
What a great show, really good content. Thank you Whiskey Throttle for making it happen and thank you Mike for taking us through your life. Truly fascinating!

Finally something new on RUclips with Metz.
RIP Marty Smith. Defined 70s motocross.
Marty and his wife...so sad but at the same time...they both went together and doing what they loved. Who could ask for more. Prayers to their family and friends.

Yeah Mike! Carter here saying hello! GREAT to see you on here brother
20+ years later and I still think Metzger is cool AF.
Loved it, Metz is great!
This was most interesting,thank you.JHB-SA.
Used to pump concrete for Ted in the early 90's .. fun times . Great show
Had a Fox poster of Metzger doing a double leg can can in some dunes in the 90's ...he was such a badass on a bike ! I'm glad y'all had him on !
You mean no footed can??

Saw Title Mike Metzger. First time to the show. Man I miss the old KX 500. Cr 250.
Metz was one of my favorite riders, really talented.
I remember seeing Metz ride at Paris Bercy (think it was 96 or 97), with Torrenteras. Great show :)
Pumped to listen to this one!
Metz is the man. Fmx godfather absolutely

Get McGrath, bubba, Pastrana etc on too
Awesome show, but you forgot Fresno Smooth!

Mike is so right, FMX died ground 2008-2010 in my opinion.
But the real Peak was in 02/03 i think.
Mike is awesome!
my only criticism is show more photos during the podcast. step the production up a little bit and the views will come.
GL, I have been watching old races also, saw your championship season! But I couldn’t find Ping anywhere?
Ping was on Pro Circuit 125s early mid 90s
Metz is a tuff dude.
It's hard to imagine kids being paraded around the country to race by parents that were more into it than they were. I never knew that about Metzger. It's pretty clear that you had to have a Dad (or Mom) totally into this sport to succeed.
im so mad they didnt ask him about his Hells gate enduro adventure and endurocross. If you havent seen it get the DVD and watch it. full of drama
Poisoned the well cashing into the mainstream motocross the board.
I loved Thrasher.

fox1nz cmon man. It looks great. !! What do you think is going on in the world right now that would force them to temporarily relocate !! 🙄awesome shoes guys 👍

Great show but you need a table that doesn't make it so awkward, round table or something like joe rogan has.
