Great video. Mold release is very important if you don’t want to keep replacing your molds. Thank you Jake for the comparison video.
Very welcome.. glad you enjoyed it 🦾
Great video. I love the comparisons.
Thank you John-Boy 🦾
Wonderful test. Thank you for sharing. Everyone stay safe, warm, happy and healthy. From Henrico County Virginia. I use Stoner.
Thank you Norm 👍👍
Very good information!! Great video!!
❤️❤️
Thanks for doing this comparison video. Very helpful and informative. And if I might add…there were some FANTASTIC choices for the silicone & resin colors-not all but some 😉😂💯🔥🧡
Orange is alright I guess. 😀🦾
@@JakeThompson 😁😁
Good job Jake. I am part of an epoxy special interest group in San Diego (part of San Diego Fine Woodworkers Association). Mold release has been a topic discussed briefly. Your point about mold releases built for different applications was well discussed and something our group hasn't talked about enough. I will share your video with our group so they can learn also.
One other question that comes up on occasion is when should a pressure pot be used vs. vacuum chamber? I believe you are one of the YT experts out there that actually use both and may be able to give a straightforward explanation. Or, you may already have a video on this. If you already have a video - or series of videos - can you send me the link or playlist to share with the group? Thank you in advance.
Thank you Rob for the nice compliments.
As far as the pressure pot vs vacuum chamber.. I definitely should make a video on that.. stay tuned 👍
I have a mold release but I only ever use it inside my pressure pots incase some resin spills/leaks in it 😁
But love comparison videos 💪🏻💜
Cheeky girl 😂💜💜💜

Thanks Jake for a very informative video. Stoner has been working well for me. I may try another soon as my can runs out.
Thank you David 🦾🦾

Great video Jake! I love your comparison videos…They’re always so easy to understand. I have used Stoner and MG Chemicals 8329 over the years. 💪🏼💙

Wow! Very informative and interesting. Thanks Jake for experimenting so we don’t have too.
Love those shirts BTW

Thanks for the comparison info - now I know!
Thank you Phil 🦾🦾
Can't thank you enough for making these style of compare videos so we can see whats up. Too many makers opinions are single view and bought. Not so with you! Even doing this for while, there is ALWAYS more to learn. And you show us what we can expect with each option, and if you have a preference, why. Thank you!
Very Welcome Jen.. I have to be honest., that’s all I have.
Awesome video!!

Outstanding video, great information!!!!💯💯💯💯💪💪💪

Any future video or recommendation for a release agent epoxy resin to plastic, specifically delrin plastic?
Great video- thanks!
I’ve never used Delrin plastic. I just looked it up and Whoo hooo .. $$$$ it’s pretty high.. I know all of these will work with HDPE .. I hope that helps
@@JakeThompson that does help. I will be using delrin with silicone molds and I don’t want to ruin the delrin parts I paid dearly for to have scanned and CNC..😮😢
helpful; tx Jake
Thank you Kimberly 🦾🎉
Well done, Jake I always enjoy watching your shoot-out videos. Thank you.💪💪💪💪
Thank you Mr. Jim 🦾🦾🦾
great informative video! 💪💪
Thank you Brother.. glad you enjoyed it 🦾
Great video buddy. I do do like it!😂
I do do appreciate it buddy 🎉🦾😂
Would you consider doing a video on safer mold releases like clear spray paint, beeswax, talc, soap, &c.?
Probably not.. some people use Vaseline but it will leave streaks
I like how you got 3 solid tests with basically one pour. Love the efficiency.
Edit: I did notice, however, that you didn't do a control without any mold release.
One more edit: Are all of these the same size/number of uses? A per can price is meaningless, if one of them is about 100 uses, and another is only 70...
Thanks .. I try to not waste any time or materials.. all of them had mold release. I didn’t show it to the bowls I poured resin in. I said in the video that those were also sprayed.
They are all 12 oz cans.... I thought it was obvious... I was wrong.
Edit. I showed closeups of all the cans. They all clearly say 12oz.
could you do a test with Ease Release 200
@@THE_KORE A quick answer is that it does about the same as the stoner .
What about Pam? What about silicone spray from the auto parts store?
I just watched a video that @aeginacraft made discussing this. I haven't tried these things, but it's interesting and it may be something I try in the future. ruclips.net/video/k9DAUOEjmUI/видео.html

So, if there isn't a safe space for me to use a spray, what else can be used? I'm thinking for a less profession and MUCH lower budget setting. Any insights?
Some people use Vaseline but you will be able to see brush marks or smear marks in the casting.. outside is safe place to do it as well.
i use VASELINE on my platinum molds... lots of vaseline.. i believe that the molds will last for your entire lifespan if you use vaseline as a coating... Think about it, the resin isnt actually touching the mold itself , so how can it wear out.
I agree but I also need my molds to look good too.. if the Vaseline is thick or not even.. the molds look bad… I’ve been experimenting with it on some smaller molds .
i just watched a video of a guy that uses VASELINE as his mold release and then he used a HEAT GUN to melt liquify the vaseline into a light coating over his mold... it looked great.

I haven’t watched the video because of no sound. However, I wanted to tell you I referred this video to @ClairesCraftyCorner because she has a question about mould release. To be continued when I get off my phone and onto my computer so I can hear it.
Cool.. Claire is awesome.
