Great News for all us rec players that love small paddle companies innovating with new paddle tech. UPA-A would result in only a few big paddle companies. Best case scenario is they get what they are asking for in the letter and a true non profit organization with standards emerges (or UPA-A accepts those terms) so the price to get certified goes DOWN EVEN FURTHER, ensuring competition on paddle technology well into the future.
99.9 % of the pickleball players and consumers play in USAP certified tournaments or just play recreational pickleball. The UPA-A, MLP, and PPA need the 99.9& to watch their games and use their paddles to make money. The USAP does not need the PPA or MLP to make money. PICKLEBALLBZ
I think UPA and Joola have been doing very underhanded things that have hurt this sport. I wouldn't own anything Joola and will not spend my hard-earned money on anything associated with the UPA.
UPAAs goal is to rule the game of pickleball. Sure, they have the vast majority of pros under contract but, the number of pros are dwrafed by the number of amateurs. The amateur game does not need the pros but the pros need the money and viewership of the amateurs to succeed. At this rate, the UPAA will kill its golden goose and carry the MLP to the grave. The USAP is not perfect but they have been the governing/sanctioning body of the sport and have been the one voice pickleball has needed. For the UPA, pickleball is a cash cow. Let's see how long they last when the only UPAA approved paddle is joola.
Two governing bodies for paddle certification is bad. UPA should have not done it. It's now a pissing competition to see who gets the least amount of humiliation from this.
I totally agree honestly I was just in a very echo-y room so I needed it more in front of my face 😂 when I’m in more normal setup I use it properly trust
Honestly, I care but don’t care. Since I’m new to the sport, I’m a little shocked about how the governing agencies are all over the place and how poor of a job I feel like they do when it comes to paddle technology. It should be very simple, but it’s almost like these people either don’t play or can’t make up their mind. We’re not here in terms like modern Pickleball and how it’s a fast game with a lot of speed and power. That’s happening because of paddle technology not being restricted quick enough. Most of the RUclipsrs seem to wish the game would slow down. I often wonder if the pros wish the game would slow down. On the other hand, I have zero interest in playing in a tournament and I’ll continue buying the boutique company paddles and it won’t affect me any. They should also hire an independent lab to test these paddles with specific criteria and call it done. Maybe get with some other sports such as tennis to see what their testing criteria is. It should not be this difficult. It also seems like a money grab in some ways. I don’t know if it’s to increase the popularity of Pickleball, which I doubt that’s it or if it’s to pay for their salaries. I would be curious how many people each one of these organizations employee and how much they get paid. I would also be curious if they were for profit.
I feel very similar about a lot of this. I personally play with a power paddle so I’ve come to embrace where the game is going but that’s just me and there’s a lot of things to consider with that. Pros definitely think the game should slow down too. I’m working on a video with some thoughts soon 👌🏼
USAP can end this garbage by taking a hard line on power paddles like the Mod and the Gearbox. I put a poll up a while back that came out to 65% oppose, and more recently the Dink came out with a similar poll that had 69% against. They would win the public immediately. Even if it were an 18 month phase out. They need to grow some balls and just do it. I’m tired of showing up to a tournament and half the players have mods. If this doesn’t get fixed it just creates an arms race, and it also tells the casual player that what they need to be successful in this game is to buy a rocket launcher of a paddle.
Wait … the $333 paddle guys are now the populists champion? Plot twist. After winning the civil war, will all paddles cost $100 or $333? This tv series is hard to keep up with. 🤪 The Oni was this Game of Thrones dragon, and they killed it. I hope Daryl ends up king … and I get to visit Vatic Island. Now that would be a Saga. Daryl … hurry brother, I’m old. 😉

That would be ideal for sure
99.9 % of the pickleball players and consumers play in USAP certified tournaments or just play recreational pickleball. The UPA-A, MLP, and PPA need the 99.9& to watch their games and use their paddles to make money. The USAP does not need the PPA or MLP to make money. PICKLEBALLBZ
This is what I mean when I say there’s an established knowledge 👆🏼
Glad to hear the pay-to-play arrangement for paddle companies is getting some pushback.
Very much agree
I think UPA and Joola have been doing very underhanded things that have hurt this sport. I wouldn't own anything Joola and will not spend my hard-earned money on anything associated with the UPA.
That theory is getting hard to ignore…
fk the upa and joola. They purposefully created their paddles to core crush and pushed it onto the consumers then blaming the usap for banning it
Heard Joola just had their 3S series USAPickleball approved….so that might change thoughts….
@@123BV8 where you hear this from?
@@123BV8 The 3s doesn’t even hit that hard. The Mod is a problem.
Liked. Bravo!!!! Bravo Selkirk and all!!! Overdue. Now it is up to the playing public to support these boycotting companies!
Great point the support is huge
Been following opinions on this letter since release. Really liked your take Rafa. Glad Selkirk is gatnering support on the push back to BIG PICKLE.
Me too - from what I hear it’s not just Selkirk now and other companies are getting heavily involved which is great
Keep up the great content! you provide an interesting and insightful lens on all of this, and it's much appreciated!
Of course! Thanks for tuning in :)
UPA paddle standards, like everything else in MLP/PPA, are for sale to the highest bidder, game be damned.
Yikes 😬
@@pickleballtechdude think Vulcan ball or some of the venues for example
@@zaf7819 Lifetime needs to buy the ball contract already in the name of fixing the game. They have already made the best ball.

Solid point there hope UPAA responds positively to the feedback
And Paddletek?
Thx for keeping us informed 🧐
Always 😎
Thank you for sharing, I will continue to pay attention to this matter.
Definitely do! 💯
Paddle Fees 🧐 Extortion Fees and/or an exclusion program fee to eliminate competition 💰
👆🏼 I didn’t say it @UPA this guy did 🤣
Thank you for your analysis.
Always 🫡
Great video about all the drama
Thanks 🙏🏼
If PPA is Pay to Play Association, note to JOOLA … Wilson revenue $500+ million, Head $400+ million. Be careful what you ask for.

The intentions are definitely… strange
Just bought a joola 3s, should I return it and wait for the joola pro 4?
Can’t say for sure I haven’t hit the 4s yet :/
@@pickleballtechdudethe 4’s aren’t out yet but would u recommend the 3s?
Buy a mod. Return it right away. Use receipt to get 50% off the Joola 4.
Competition is a GREAT thing for the consumer. We want more paddle companies not less.
Totally agree - keeps the standards up
lol. I was wondering about the mask in the background and you zoomed in. Good stuff.
😂😂😂 always watching
Love your unabashed opinion and analysis 👏
It’s the only way to do it!! 👊🏼
The issue of UPA certification has always been controversial.
Very true
The paddle fee and time are the problem.
HUGE problems
phew, well at least my vatic should be globally legal lol
Right?? 😂

If the game do not slow down, it will simply turn into "mini Tennis".
To pay or not to pay? =D
