Never had an issue removing one, its always a new tire install that can be difficult. The trick is always to warm up the tire! Leave it in the sun for an hour before installation and it’ll just slip on.

I've got one of those Rabaconda devices. I'm, at best, okay at changing tyres but without flustering I can change a mousse tyre in about 15 minutes, including lubing the mousse. I did it once without the Rabaconda, with a mousse. 2 hours, a pint of blood lost out of my knuckles and the rimlock not seated. I highly recommend using the guide Vanessa Ruck aka Girl on a Bike does. If you follow it, every bit of it, even the bits which don't make a lot of sense, after 15 minutes, you'll be cinching up your rinlocks like a boss. I fit mousses about twice a year, max, so I don't do it enough to have a knack so I just follow Vanessa's guide and the tyre pops on. With a regular inner tube I take about 10 minutes to change a tube and unless you're running mousses and you change them youself, the Rabaconda is a bit pointless. But if you're running mousses, bite hard and pay the money. Your knuckles will thank you, but you'll never be as good as this lass. She's amazing!

Get the first edge in with 2 levers lay the wheel on the ground apply lube, and walk the tyre on. You will not damage the rim or tyer. For removal break off the beads push the tyre into the well on one side and insert on lever between the rim and tyer levers the bead over the rim at that spot then insert the second levers next to it and levers more of the tyre over the rim. With a 1/4 the tyer over the rim on one side turn the wheel over and push a long lever right under the tyre and lever against the opposite rim, tyer off. Always ensure the tyer bead drops into the rim when levering and you will have no problems Some car and light trucks have an offset rim well in which case you must take them off fron the side nearest the offset. Why do people make such a big deal over changing tyers. Some of the patronising comments here about a woman changing a tyer, badly, are right out of order.

I’m a little impressed but I spend most of my time fighting the tube and rim locks. Did she use a mousse in each tire or was this just a fake demonstration?

that's a real race situation and yes, they use bib mousses for some decade or more already

Yes! At F.I.M. ISDE the riders are the only ones who can perform maintenance on their bikes. They all use F.I.M. approved 140 wide tires and matching 140 mousse.

for decade or more the racers use bib mousse inserts, not inner tubes. And yes, her wheel has a rim lock if you look closely

Here is a tip use some dam tire grease , and when your take the bead off the rim stick a long spoon in it was spin it all the way around the rim wayyyyyy faster ! .. and when putting the tire back on the rim use tire grease and once your half way around push the tire bead in the center of the rim where the bead has more room to fly back on the rim .. I used to do this crapp back when I raced quads .. with only 3 tire spoons wouldn't even break a sweat .. HOPE THESE TIPS HELP SOMEONE

Let’s do the math.. Tire changer is $450-$500… if you’re a non racer you may go through 1 of tires per year but for the sake of argument, most tire shops/tents charge $20 per tire , some will actually do it for free, so $40 per pair.. meaning this tire changer would not pay for itself for at least 10 years… numbers don’t lie folks,,

    • @strictlymitch

I did multiple tyres last year. Mine would have paid for itself
