I have the cheaper model Shimano 22 Grappler BB 151HG and I love it. I've caught all kinds of fish on it including jack crevalle over 20 lbs. I finally ordered a nice grappler lj rod to match it, i've been using a cheap rod from ali express but it's got the job done.
Interesting. I haven't had a chance to use mine, but I am hopeful it'll get the job done since the Tranx200 performed well for me. I think also since I am fishing off a kayak - drag pressure doesn't play that much of a role (since the kayak gets towed quite easily). Thanks for watching!
@YakItUp I was going to switch to a tranx301 maybe since it has more drag pressure. It's great for light jigging but the drag is similar to the daiwa and drag I think so it slips a little when you really set the hook. I'm in a kayak too sometimes!
It can be if you aren’t turning it correctly. I find the best way to do it is to Palm the side of the reel and turn clockwise - you should be able to get it fairly easily.

Thanks , Mate! What year is this model? And please , share a source you do order parts for the reel. I appreciate it!
I used this last year for light tog but it struggled on 7lb tog and up. Going to use it for fluke and porgy and seabass this year

@@Fish-y3g Yeah i think the 300 has 18lb and this grappler has about 15lb
When you release the side plate is it a bitch to slide it down to open it? I have the curada and its super hard to open it to get to the brakes..
