    There are many people from Bantry to Castletownbere, from Bandon to Eyeries, from Schull to Dursey who will tell you as if it were common knowledge now, and even then in 1996, that Bailey did not kill that lady, and that the actions of the Gards in covering up for one of their own then, and now, have led to one of the worst miscarriages of justice this island has seen - for Sophie, for Bailey himself, and for Sophie's family. I met Bailey on several occasions - mostly in Glengarriff where he lived for a time, and although I found him to be a very narcissistic individual, and one who certainly profited from the notoriety, and almost basked in it in pubs in west Cork after a few pints, but nothing about that man suggested to anybody who came in contact with him that he murdered that poor lady and was delighted to have gotten away with it. He was instead deeply angered at the Gards, the Irish Media and the Irish State for their behaviour. Very easy to make a scapegoat out of an obnoxious Englishman in rural Ireland in 1996 if you wish to deflect from all the inconsistencies put forward by the Gards in West Cork.

      Don’t be so hard on Ian Bailey - no one knows the extent of the suffering that Ian went through for decades which would have led to a nervous breakdown or even suicide to a lesser man. Ian had to put on such a persona in order to exist, to function in society and let no one forget that he had been an accomplished journalist in the UK before settling in Cork after his marriage breakdown. It is a wonder he didn’t turn into araving lunatic after being metaphorically crucified in public for decades. The man was persecuted to death with every word and facial expression scrutinized under the microscope of public and police opinion. It is scandalous. RIP Ian Bailey and not one person had the compassion to turn up at his grave with a bunch of flowers or could be bothered to say a prayer at his graveside. Ireland should be ashamed.

    What do you think of the theory that Sophie was killed by the horses in the adjoining field? She loved nature and horses, probably went out to them in the early morning with a treat like muesli in her hands and the horses were expecting their feed. They reared up, kicked her in the head, bit her hands and trampled on her. She grabbed a brick and tried to flee but her injuries were fatal. Two women were killed by horses recently in Longford and Galway but there were witnesses so we didn’t end up with a ‘Whodunit’.

    • @patrickpiranha4912
      @patrickpiranha4912 28 дней назад +1

      Did the horses also have a discussion to decide which one of them was going to trot up to the house and run their hoof down the back door and leave a blood stain....?
      Excuse the apparent sarcasm but if you delve deeply into the evidence file there is no question she was brutally murdered by a man.....
      Certainly not a horse!

      ps I've an open mind on the matter. Whether he did it or whether he didn't, the Guards made a balls of the whole thing. I'll give you this, though - I can 100% get why someone innocent, accused of murder, would shout their innocence from the rooftops; but there's a great deal to be said for discretion as well, however, in spite of words having been his living, I don't think Ian had the first clue of the meaning of _that_ one!
