@@MikeEves I worked as a nurse in my local Hospice. We had to share visors as we didn't have enough. Both myself and friend got Covid from a patient. We were both seriously ill. I retired 2 years ago aged 68. The two faced Starmer is now thanking us by stealing from us. BTW I voted Reform.

I know of three old people who have shared their view on this, two, who will no longer get the allowance, are OK with it because they don't need it, they have plenty enough money to stay warm, and one who is poorer who isn't going to have the pension stopped. The poor one is off to US on holiday, that's how poor she is.

I think we're in for not only a cold winter but an early one. My cats started shedding their summer coats a month ago. They usually don't do that until the end of September. The squirrels have already taken the pears off my tree and that's early for them. Keep an eye on nature as that is usually a good indicator of what is to come weatherwise.

My Labour MP voted with the government even though we have a high proportion of pensioners in my area! I re-looked at her election speech where she pledged to serve her constituents. Great start to her first (and last) term! This betrayel will not be forgotten nor forgiven!

Labour have exposed their incompetence by pushing this cut in fuel payments. All they had to do is give a slightly lower wage increase to the public sector and train drivers, that would have allowed them to retain the winter fuel payment. Having failed to do this it exposes their political incompetence and how heartless they are.

About 15% less than what they gave accross the board. Even a 12.5% reduction in foreign aid would have paid for it. So far, they've pledged an additional 9.4 billion a year in public service salaries and cut 1.4 billion from the fuel allowance payments. Makes you wonder how they're meant to be filling the "black hole" when before the budget is even released, they've spent more than they've saved.
They wont get a second term, they are already finished

They are doing these things now because they know they can't face any consequences at the ballot box for 4 years, by which time a lot of today's pensioners will no longer be with us and the government is hoping the ones that are will have forgotten about the winter fuel allowance.

National Living Wage is £11.44 per Hour. Based on a 39 Hour Week that works out at £446 per Week. Or £23,200 per Year. State Pension is HALF OF THAT AMOUNT. Does that mean anyone on the State Pension isnt expected to have the Same Life Style. As someone on the Governments Living Wage. That is what the Government are telling Everyone is the Minimum You Need To Live On Today. 95% of Pensioner on Basic Full State Pension are Above the Pension Credit Level of £218 Quid a Week. Because Full State Pension Today is £221 per Week. This Stinks very badly as a Set Up for the OAPs

As a pensioner my self, I am disgusted with this government’s decision to cut the winter fuel payment, what has this so called Labour Party got against pensioners. They also keep their fuel payments for themselves. I worked hard all my life.
