3800 w-body factory air box mod

cold air induction on the cheap. This is all you'll need if you want more induction noise. no need to drop a lot of money for a CAI when you can improve your factory box.

i've had the internal baffles cut out of my w bodies for decades, but didn't realize i could go further with the side tube. will do so asap. if the headlight is removed, and without the side tube, there is an effective ram air system at work. i don't recommend this for the street since there is significant dirt entry into the air box.
the ECM connections need to be protected from the elements and i used di eletric grease to seal the connectors.
as an aside there are sometimes an engine code for mixture too lean. this means the modded box flows much better than stock. with slower driving the code automatically goes away. glade i bumped into this video. thanks.

here in the next few days, im likely going to go to a junkyard and remove a box off a similar year as mine and do this mod to that and that way i can take my time and not have to worry if I have to go out for some reason, as well as clean it up a little bit and install a modded and better looking air box into my own car.

Between then and now, I went out and got another and cleaned it up fairly well, then replaced the original with one that I modded, it kinda sounds like it is howling around the 5500 rpms to 6k rpms, sounds nice and feels like it gained a little bit of power
