I own a pair of SS-LB655AV, they have inputs for for super bass and speaker section... They're 6 ohms, how do I connect them to an amplifier or a receiver? You seem to know very well how to work with them... awaiting for your advice, thanks a lot... I was about to dump them 'till I saw your videos... I'm from Panama Rep. of Panama...
Hi there, not sure what type of amplifier you're using but I wired mine the same way I would wire any regular amp to speakers. I used an AV receiver to power them and there is only a single set of inputs on them unlike yours. From the pics I've seen, both the inputs of your speakers are 6 ohms which when wired in SERIES = 12 ohm and that is be safe for many amplifiers. Just make sure to double check you're wiring in series and not parallel. Now the type of person I am, I would attempt parallel wiring. Some amplifiers just turn off or go into 'protect' when they see loads they don't like, but with moderate power/volume they can run fine without getting hot. I've done this with the SMD subwoofer I have which is wired at 1 ohm to an amplifier only designed to go down to 2 ohm at the most.
Hey bro since you have alot of experience in woofers could you please tell me what could be wrong with my sony 6 ohm woofer? Only the right side when i put the stereo system (sony GR8) on low volume you can hear crunching but as soon as i put my finger on it it goes or if the volume is really loud the bass covers it up and when i push the top half of the woofer in while the system is not playing music or off it makes the crunching sound too but they both work perfectly fine on high volume as the bass covers it up. Please reply
+SkidMarkz I have experience with woofers but I've never experienced that.. maybe someone else has.. I would take the speakers out for a closer inspection though, something could be damaged but I'm not sure, I would only be guessing
My Stoner Mind ok thanks for the reply anyway bro if u hop over to my channel u can see that the cone split away from the voice coil so i had to repair it with some epoxy could it be that i haven't aligned it properly?
I have the same sony and hated the whoooarrr effect (i don't know the literature name of this ) and i am just wondering if it's a stupid idea mounting the woofer backwards and leaving the cap out finally using it as a normal speaker, thanks for all your effort.
I don't know what you mean by that effect but personally I'd leave it alone as the speaker is meant to be 4th order bandpass, but try it if you want. Mounting the woofer backwards won't make a difference though.
What amplifier do you recomend for this speakers, I have two of the lbt xb66 plate version... I know these speaker works at 8ohms and I know they work at 170watt rms each one... Please help... 🙌
I've been randomly watching your videos for a while, finally subscribed (not sure why I didn't before). Good job making entertaining and informative videos.
I've done this before, in old boxes with t-shirts and other like material. It tricks the woofer somehow. Some higher quality woofer enclosures come pre-filled like this, so something about it must be right, or somewhat effective at least.
Hi bro sorry i am late but i have a doubt.. why dint you try with that original hifi system... that integrated amp specially made for these speakers right ? im not sure,,, just asking you.. will there be any difference ?
@@burmathevan1250 there is a difference though, with the original amp you can choose 'music mode' or 'movie mode'. The 'movie mode' has more lower frequency output and 'music mode' has more mid bass.
that looks like the Aiwa my friend used to have! we shook the house with that thing all the time. it had such wonderfull sound and we wish he had it back!
It is more refined and smooth sounding unlike before. It sounds like louder because it produces a little higher frequency compared to the one with stuffing on it.
What you hear is higher frequency harmonics and reflections from inside speaker box walls, as higher frequencies need less energy than lower ones to get same output volume. By filling cabinet with polifill sound does not have flat sides to reflect anymore and stop going all over the frequency range, than you hear just the frequencies what you are supposed to hear.
Nice sound improvement!, right now, searching for a couple of those old sony speakers. can you improve more the sound with a x-over? i will like to see that. greetings.
these old aiwa systems are good aren`t they. I have NSX-360 and it`s from the same era as yours (i can tell by the look of it) and it really bangs when you connect proper speakers to it :)
It sounds hella good. Smaller boxes give you less boom better sound. Bigger give you more boom but a bit less quality. Probably changed these from just crappy shelf speakers to proper monitors.
Wish I had my real stereo with me not my crappy mono phone speaker 😂 but I can still slightly hear the difference just hardly in the lower end. I will Be waiting for the next vid thanks for posting!
The sound from the right one is called PUMPING. Even some ports can do this. Sometimes you'll see some porous foam in a tube to try and stop the breathing pumping sound. Some good crossovers would be a nice kinds inexpensive upgrade I'd like to see. But some good proper xovers can make a big difference in the lows and highs.
Nice vid... would have liked to hear the comparison of the modified speaker swapped around with original because depending on where they are positioned in the room as they were for example... say close to a window as appose to an open corner it can make a difference with sound waves especially the bass and lower end of the sound spectrum
yeah I did test that (before and after the changes) and there wasn't a noticeable difference compared to the video. It's a fairly well rounded room for bass, it's just the depth of of the bass or 'tonality' that really changed with the addition of Poly-fil.
How good are these speakers cuz i have them here at my house but i never played them i lack a amplifier system and my dad never bought one because we have a sony home theater system
buy a neoprene sheet, make them cut it as your speakers walls, glue it and use the poly later, add cotton if possible, you get it more defined that way.
Maybe the next thing to look at is the plastic baffle, I suspect it would benefit fron some reenforcing and some waddind. Then look at the sub woofer (it looks a bit feeble). Also, see if any improvements can be made to the cross over and/or convert them to active speakers, that is assuming you want to spend that much money one them
only thing I would do is maybe change the tweeters and crossovers. The baffle and subs sound fine and changes to the baffle would make little difference. Don't need them to be active in any way.
+John Cribbs the biggest spiders in the UK is the Eratigena atrica (giant house spider) which is found in houses and various other buildings. When you've seen a few of them running around, you tend to want to look out for them when opening speaker cabinets that have ports on them 😂😂
nice, when I was 14 I saw a spider on the curtains of our old house and it looked about the size of my hand. I was roughly 12ft away and could see the hairs on its legs :/
The purpose of the polyfill is to attenuate the sound waves emitted by the speaker from behind, so that the wood of the cabinet does not vibrate as much as before. That way, the bass is less distorted creating the illusion of louder sound.
Left side sounds more like a studio monitor.... Tight accurate and smooth! Good call on doing both though... I'd have done the same, but REALLY love my Tannoy's! lol CHEERS

Same problem I had with my Linton 3 XP's. They were resonating and shaking the room to bits at about 250hz
I bet the poly fill helped a lot. It tricks a speaker into thinking it's in s bigger cabinet.
So if I want my aiwa speakers to sound like this, I just have to stick cotton to the walls of the cabinet?
+JAMiE DC possibly, no harm in experimenting. Just do it without expectations and you won't be disappointed.
