The Dutch army used a tubular scarf / shawl with two splits in it for decades. Maybe it is stil in use. The two flaps of about 50 cm will cover both your back end your chest. I found this very practical when wearing wool jackets with a button closure like a navy pea coat. The models made in the 70’s and 80's were made of 50% wool (Halfwol in Dutch). They are still available in like new or almost unused condition in many army surplus stores.
This is a brand I absolutely love...yet extremely frustrated by. Unfortunately, they make a phenomenal product but at an eye-watering price. It's something you absolutely have to try to understand why they charge the prices they do. Extremely warm yet comfortable. Exceptionally comfortable. I would say buy their beanie and neck gaiter just to understand the product. They'll probably be one of the best beanie/scarf you'll ever own and punch well above their price. My biggest frustration is the rather extended production schedule they have. To their credit, they allow you to reserve/preorder at the original quoted price at no cost to you. They do a solid job keeping you up to date. But this is really not a brand for the impatient.
I have the neck gaiter. It’s awesome. Been using it for about 3 years now. I’d offer to send you my anorak to compare to the Filson anorak but I’m way bigger than you. It’d be like wearing a parachute.
Yeah it’s a quality piece I’m glad I got. That’s good to hear it’s holding up well after time. I greatly appreciate the thought! I’m hoping the anorak is available again soon so I can do a comparison, I’d really like to get the shirtjac to try out as well. That’s one big down fall about weather wool. Almost nothing ever in stock.
@@wildforwool3821 Most definitely. Their product is so custom and specific and there have been so many shutdowns in textile over the past few years that they're really having to fight to make their fabric. If you've never seen it before it's pretty incredible stuff.
Did you get any other Weatherwool? I really dig their fuckin AAJ w/ double hood, Rak, and the Hooded Jacket. Keeps me toasty, and it has excellent craftsmanship. I've never felt wool like this before. Crazy
