as much as I like Eric making the decision on his own to pursue a real person and not a voice like his did in the Broadway show, I have to admit I'd like to see that as well
How fantastic is Garrett Clayton as Eric?! Perfection. Drop a 🤩 below in honor of our favorite spellbound prince! (And subscribe to be first to see the Ursula music video arriving soon.)
I know right and funny thing that's what GOLDDIGGER HO3S DOES TOO SO THEY CAN STEAL A DIVINE FEMININE'S DIVINE MASCULINE AND TAKE AWAY FROM THEM. 😤😤😤😒😒😒
I was so sad that in the Little Mermaid Live Action movie they didn't include a song for Vanessa just some vocal voice, which is why I have to thank you for doing this, you did Vanessa justice, I was hoping someone could do a whole new Vanessa song all the time, now this is the moment! thank you so much! amazing work!
I love the idea that Eric arent always be in the possession of the spell and Vanessa didnt miss a chance into noticing it and quickly controlling him the way she wanted right away from allowing him to keep on asking the suspicious like Ariel's hair and eyes, that's a wonderful characterisation there for Ursula and how manipulative she can be, it's short but enough to express her wickedness.
Yup exactly 💯💯💯💯 and DECEITFUL !!!! Even nowadays GOLDDIGGER HO3S KARMICS DOES THE SAME THING AS VANESSA. ALWAYS TRYING TO GET ALL ERICS (DIVINE MASCULINES) FROM ARIELS (DIVINE FEMININES) THIS IS REALITY BUT THERE ALWAYS A DEFEATING OF A VANESSA!!!!
Disney missed a good chance with this one. I love how Eric notices deep down that something isn’t right, but yet he still thinks she’s the one. This should have been in the movie. If they ever do another version of TLM that is more in line with the original, be it animated or live action, you should send it in.
It is funny how he’s constantly under her spell though. Like at the wedding when Scuttle and the other birds all fly under Vanessa’s dress Eric doesn’t even flinch
Smartly written !! The line is thin between the hero and the villain as they are getting married, it is thin as you demonstrated in this song going from a a solo victory song as it is at the start (with Eric being only a chorus) to a love duet. The progression of the song makes the imminence of the wedding and thus Ursula's success even more dangerous. At the end of the song when the voices melt together it is far too lovely so we end up being pulled inside Ursula's web as well and it took me a moment to realized I was being charmed ! An awesome experience, great job !!
I absolutely love how at 2:24 when they said "It's all I ever wanted, every dream coming true" and when their voices meld on "The ocean will be mine/My true love will be mine" at 2:55, they're both being sincere and genuine about their feelings and goals, and you can truly see the contrast between both their perspectives of the song. For Eric it's a love song to his true love who he is about to marry, he has left his worries behind and is ready to reach is happy ending. On the other hand, for Ursula it's a song of victory as her net closes around the other characters and her scheme comes to an end.
Simply great! I already watched and listened to it about 50 times. What makes it so brilliant is the balancing act between the comic style of Ursula and on the other hand her cruel hunger for power. The end shows that all fun comes to an end when Vanessas plot plays out, being the mistress of the strings
What?!?! This is amazing!!!! And Prince Eric is hilarious!! And has an amazing voice as well with Vanessa. Broadway quality; 👏👏👏👏Bravo and THANK YOU for sharing with us!
I can't even begin to count how many times I've viewed this since it was released. This is one of the most incredible homages not only to Disney, not only to The Little Mermaid, not only to the characters of Eric, Ursula and "Vanessa," but to any single Disney scene in history. It's that good. Of course the songwriting expertly fits into the Disney as Broadway playbook that The Little Mermaid popularized. Of course the lyrics contain both powerful story telling and character development, and of course it's effortlessly catchy. But beyond that what makes this incredibly special is the acting. Oh certainly, one might quibble here or there, I could say that my interpretation of "Vanessa's" character would put more emphasis on the vanity, the primping, the gloating, her enjoyment of the pageantry and the status, but that's just it: That's already in this performance. It could be emphasized more, but every nuance of the character has a moment to shine in this performance. The smallest pieces of physical acting enhance the end result, even details such as Vanessa stumbling ever so slightly when Eric pulls her to him from discreetly lowering the mirror speak to her slightly clumsy movement, which underlines her relative disadvantages in this false form. It's an astounding achievement. This is the type of homage that is so good that it makes one wistful for what Disney themselves could do if they committed to it (one thinks, for instance of Vanessa's wedding, since the live action remake proves definitively that Disney will not try to recreate that kind of chaos in any other medium, and alas, an anarchic action scene of wedding disruption does not lend itself to a Broadway style homage). This is a work of astonishing vision, love and courage.
Great voice on both Eric & Vanessa! The visual effects of the glowing eyes were great & not showing Ariel being victorious at the end really makes you realize how close Ursula was to becoming truly powerful. By marrying Eric, she would have technically been Queen of both Atlantica & Eric's kingdom. Awesome song & acting too!
Wow! This is a very well-written, sung, and acted song! The line about the prince being hitched to "a big, bad, witch" is genius! Eric is so cute, too, and what a voice! 🤩And I just realized the Ursula shell as the "O" in "Ocean" haha! You all did a superb job! Especially the song writing, so good! But all three actors, and the two singers, fantastic!
Omg, an actual extend version of that song:3 You don't know how happy i am, i have always loved "the ocean will be mine" but it was so short, Disney really missed something
Wait wait I don’t know if this was intentional or not but I love that at the very last note that they are harmonizing, and then Eric goes a little higher. Like- it almost feels like he’s trying to break free one last time but then Vanessa goes EVEN higher than him overpowering him in the end. A beautiful musical detail.
We could have had THIS in the live action but instead we got the 'Scuttlebut'. I don't know how Disney keep screwing up these remakes 😢. This song is incredible.
My goodness you two sound incredible together and as always, your voice has the most perfect vibrato I have ever heard!! This was fire!! (cuz, it wasn't under the sea, lol)
I always hoped Vanessa would get a better storyline and her song would be longer she's the best Villain sidekick this song would be absoulutly perfect for the movie. Thank You for making this
Honestly, if this particular Little Mermaid scene from the upcoming live action reboot is not as epic as yours, I don’t want to watch it. What a great job, acting and voice performance!
Scuttle: (seeing Ursula in the reflection) The Sea Witch! Oh no! She's gonna--! I gotta--! (bumps into the window before flying off to warn Ariel) ARIEL!!!!! ARIEL!!!!! Nice job with the duet!
You could re-enact the original Vanessa scene. All you need is a vanity boudoir or table big enough to climb and twirl on, and a big mirror. The rest (attire, choreography, voice, hair, cinematographer, small props) you pretty much have covered.
This is fabulous and instantly become my favorite! I adore everything you have done but, this is so great! I love The Little mermaid too so it's awesome to see Vanessa get a villain song. I know the live-action movie won't have this and I'm disappointed.
Goosebumps everywhere!!! The music and lyrics are absolutely amazing! I listened to the video ten times to appreciate every details: how the lyrics are spread between the characters and how you respond to each other! The music is a gem! I love when you play a Villain and that one is pretty charming and nasty. Garrett Clayton is perfect! Wonderful job! Can't wait to see the next part!
WHAT!!!! you don’t understand. this part of the little mermaid is literally SUPERIOR and better than any other scene. omg fr like i canttt. i’m vanessa’s biggest fan and i MEAN IT. omggg when i saw this omg when i say i gasped omggggg
I'll be totally honest, I was a little bummed that the melody from the original scene in the movie didnt come into play at some point in this because I adore singing it - but this is truly a fabulous song! Incredibly well arranged, all the back-and-forth between Vanessa & Eric is fantastic, particularly the split raising notes at the end; fantastic storytelling, covering deeper strands of two characters that are mostly background for this moment in the movie; brilliant staging that would work in large- or small-scale... this entire song is SO impressive and well done.

Love the detail at 1:50 of Ursula trying to turn down the mirror so Eric won't see her true form
The point it's that eric, both here&in the original movie, can't see it because ursula hypnotized him not because he won't see it!

You guys did awesome, Garrett! Great job to you both and those who worked with you. 👍🏻☺

I love the theatrical way of you moving and singing like Pat's Ursula as Vanessa, this song suits her perfectly.
It’s always great seeing you play a villain, you do evil in the best way!
Fantastic song, and you’re obviously relishing this role. 😈 Eric is fantastic and it’s great to see Alyssa again.
