Caitlin Clark, the #1 overall pick in the WNBA draft has completely upended the entire league. She's shattering records both on the court, in viewership, live attendance, and even merchandise sales. From selling out WNBA All-Star jerseys in mere minutes to selling out of her Wilson basketball 'Limitless" signature series in hours, she's revolutionizing women's basketball.
No one hates a successful woman more than a less successful woman.
I have found that to be sad but true.

The last time I heard about Sheryl Swoopes was when Caitlin hit a 30+ 3pt bomb and she said she didnt see who it was who shot the ball xD No idea how she gets money to commentate games in the WNBA she has clearly lost her mind already after saying Caitlin was 25 years, 5+ years playing and takes 40 shots per game in college.

How come nobody mentions that the Chicago Sky made the playoffs last year (2023) without Angel Reese??? The Indiana Fever did not make the playoffs in (2023) without Clark. The Fever are on pace to make the playoffs this year with Clark leading the way. With Reese, the Sky are worse this year than last year.
Because most of the people commenting on this didn’t care about the W before CC "swooped" in to save the league. They get all of their info from Twitter. The loudest opinions come from people that don't watch the games at all. CC is having an all time rookie season.

Apparently Swoopes believes in that old saying; "there's no such thing as bad press". It's truly ridiculous knowing full well the facts and stats surrounding CC yet still making absurd comments.
That need for attention is just unbelievable with some of these "old guard" players. One has to wonder if they indeed actually see how petty and jealous they are, or if it's SO bad that it has blinded them past the point of no return. Every time I think I see or hear one of them say something WAY out there, I think to myself; "ok, that kinda stupid is gonna be tough to top". Then along comes someone like Swoopes and boom! Top spot taken!
Swoopes firing from Loyola University in 2016, an excerpt: Swoopes has a tendency to “cross the line” when dealing with members of the program in regards to their performances and personal lives, according to a source close to the team who asked to remain anonymous.
“She really pushes them to the point of misery and to the point where they shut down,” said the source. “A lot of them feel very trapped about who they can talk to in the Athletic Department because regardless of who they choose, it usually gets back to Sheryl … and I think when it gets to that point … there is no outlet.”
The source also said Swoopes interferes with players’ lives outside of basketball. Specifically, the school said in April that it would investigate allegations against Swoopes brought by former players. One former player, Cate Soane, has said Swoopes humiliated her and created a hostile environment.
Presently, I think, she is striving to swoope down, lowering her own bar. I think she is campaigning for Queen Bee of the CC hater anti-fan club. CCDS to be sure but full blown dementia is right around the corner putting her (soon), right down the hall in a room, from Joe Biden. ☑️👌😎 JP

Swoops was a great baller, not so much on speaking. To me, she just says what's in her head, or what she wishes was the truth. Bottom line she has not even looked at the stats, or even appreciated what CC has accomplished. So, my view looking at the stats and watching the games has made it easy to disregard Swoops opinion.
Some cannot retire with grace and Swoopes is one! She needs Caitlin Clark to stay relevant in her own mind. Whoever hates CC the reason is she’s shining a light where they do not want a light. Hey Sheryl, remember the GOT MILK poster you did with Lisa Leslie & Nikki McCray back in 1999? It's hanging in my "sports room." I just tore you out of the poster. Glad I know your true character now.
It feels kind of like a betrayal, doesn't it? I remember being absolutely astonished when I watched her score 47 points in the 1993 National Championship game for Texas Tech. I was there, at the Omni Coliseum in Atlanta because that was the year that Iowa went to the Final Four before the CC Era. I had never seen anyone play like Swoopes, and I continued to watch her and the other Comet players as they went on to win four consecutive WNBA Championships. I don't remember ever hearing her speak, except in 2-3 minute post-game interviews, so I knew nothing about her character, but I really admired her as a basketball player.
I was pretty upset by the video of Swoopes lying about the circumstances surrounding Caitlin's breaking of the scoring record, and perplexed/befuddled by her "apology" in which she claimed that "black people can't be racist." However, at this point, I simply cannot tolerate her disrespectful, dismissive attitude towards Caitlin any longer. It is indefensible. I hope that a trusted friend will speak to her before she completely destroys her legacy, if she has not already done so. I'm guessing that you were also hoping that, somehow, she would get her head together and stop behaving this way. I'm sorry that you had to damage your very cool poster in order to remove her from it.
@katharineschott9125 I felt exactly the way you did back in the day. I've listened to Sheryl for a few months now, hoping what I was hearing her say would eventually stop. It hasn't. I'm done with her. Yep, tore her horizontal pose right off of that poster! It was therapeutic! I truly loved the Houston Comets & was so proud of them & the accomplishments of the team. As a former BB player, they were my favs. Thanks for sharing your story!

I must admit that I'm surprised to have felt so deeply troubled by 1) Caitlin being disrespected by ANYONE, especially someone that I had respected and admired; and 2) Feeling sort of betrayed by Swoopes because of her rejection of my "hero" (Caitlin). Really of this year so far, what player has done this much in the time duration rookie or not. The support, the up lifting, supporting the team, motivating the team, help better team win lose record, the players around her elevating their stats as she improves her own game. Ticket Sales. Not only on their court, but also when visiting others on their courts. Revenues up. Tell me how she is not one of, the Most Valuable Player's of this year. But they won't, they don't even see a great, or the best rookie of this year. Let alone player. Recording breaking records all year & holding back I might add. If she wanted to she will break. Just as she did not take that one record from. & Said "that was her record"?! She could have took it that night if she wanted to, but she didn't. This woman is taking a page out of Angel Reese’s book by using Caitlin to make a name for herself. It’s no coincidence that she’s a fan of Reese. I know people say she was a great player, but until she started spewing these obvious hateful comments and lies about Caitlin I had not even heard of her. When her name gets lost in the minds of people, she comes out with one of these comments so that people would start talking about her again. She’s just an attention seeking human being.

She's a full blown insecure narcissist. I think there's definitely some skin tone issues but I think at its core is irrational hatred born of jealousy. I listened to the rest of the podcast and they did a segment on some ESPN list of the 100 best pro athletes of the 2000's. Sheryl was #81 and made a snide comment about how she couldn't believe some of the WNBA players ahead of her. Of course, let's be fair, it's a nonsense list because there are thousands of better athletes than Swoopes at the current Olympics.
