Once you've cleared a plot of trees, stumps, and rocks it must be awful rewarding to turn it and work it. We all want plots like that, but, at least in our area, they come at a high cost. Sweet sounding tractor for sure. Good to get a turn in before the rains. Thanks for bringing us along.
We bought a Murray riding mower in the early 90s. My whole family used it until we bought a zero turn in 2015. Had to replace the steering a couple of times and a bunch of deck bearings but it lasted forever.
The Murray under the shed was originally my Aunts, I think it was bought around 1988. The deck went bad but the tractor itself still runs good. Thanks for watching!
The old Ford was Papaws, they hauled lumber and logs with it. It was setup in that location to operate a sawmill at last, it had a wide belt that ran the saw off the rear wheel. The brakes were manually set on the other three and one rear jacked up. I have the old sawmill parts at my house. Appreciate you watching!
Been thinking about getting me a plow also because the ground is so hard and Clay tiller just can’t get down deep enough good tip on how to use the brakes for a spinning tire thanks for sharing enjoyed watching the whole video thumbs up 👍
Yes to get the best results from a tiller you need to turn fresh ground. I’d recommend a single bottom plow for your tractor. It would pull a 2 bottom but not easily. Thanks for watching!
Hey Ben. It's kind of funny I was thinking about plowing up my garden this weekend and making a video of it. Your ground looks dry there. Finally getting some dry weather here, really cold here this morning, even had snow flurries in the area yesterday! Lots of great camera shots.
Nice dirt you have there . I did not see any rocks unlike what I have here. Every time I plow I up enough rocks to build a fore pit or two in a patch the size you got there
How do you have such good dirt? Hillsides around here are about 1-2" of topsoil and then a thin layer of clay before hitting shale or rock. Great video! I like watching an older tractor chug chug chug through a job!
This has been a garden spot for many years. Papaw would plant ryegrass on it in the winter and we’d turn it in each spring. It really helped build the soil up. Thanks for watching!
What is the lever for on your turning plow? The ones we’ve had over the years didn’t have it. Looks like a good garden spot and it’s nice your turning it for her. Keep up the good deeds!
This is the only one I’ve ever had with the handle. It adjusts the rear of the plow side to side. I think basically when running stabilizers and you want to offset the plow to line up with your rear tire you can move the handle so the plow pulls straight. I hope that makes sense. Thanks for watching!
@@khtractors We always called them hillside adjusters. When you are going along the side of a hill and you are throwing dirt up the hill the plow may dig in too much since it is falling against the furrow and you move the lever to take less bite. When you are going the other direction it is falling away from the unplowed ground so you move the lever and it moves the tip of the plow so it will bite in further. Basically moving the lever moves the point of the plow in or out to bite more or less. I hope this makes sense. If you are always throwing up hill like you were you may only move it one time. When you are doing much larger areas you may go both directions and you would adjust each time if needed. Thank heavens for a grandfather to explain all this to me. I would have never figured this one out on my own.
When do you plow and when do you till? Do you plow to break up then earth then till to mix? I never have done anything like this before. I am sure we will start a garden some day. I think I have to bush hog 1 more time cause I havent done it in over a month and 1 more yard mowing.
Turning the ground in the fall helps it soften up over the winter and let’s the vegetation rot for fertilizer. Also when preparing new ground for a garden it’s better to turn before tilling because it lets the tiller get more depth. It’s actually an old school method that you don’t see much these days. Thanks for watching!
Just to add a little to Ben's answer, one would want to till the ground just before planting. Usually late spring. Turn plowing can be done in fall or spring. The ground must be dry before tilling and then it is time to plant your crops.
Hey, Virginia woke up! 🙏🙏🙏👍🏼🇺🇸
Thank goodness! This was a big one to win!

I love the sound that tractor makes.
I’ve heard a lot of 152 Perkins tractors but this particular one has a unique tone. Thanks for watching!
@@khtractors O did not now that thank you.
Why is that.
@@canadianHAWK3 I’m not sure if it’s the muffler or the injector pump setting. It’s a deeper sound then my 135 which has the same engine.
@@khtractors ok.
Nothing compares to the smell of fresh turned soil in the garden or field. Good video.
I agree! Thanks for watching!
I like to plow soil like that. When I was a kid we used to have county and state plowing matches and they attracted huge crowds!
Now that sounds fun! Thanks for watching
Oh man that soil is beautiful! I dig down an inch and it's like a gravel quarry! I love watching you work on that 245, Ben. Thanks for sharing!
I think the 245 is most of my viewers favorite tractor. Appreciate you watching!
You plowing that garden Ben,brings back memories of my grandfather plowing his garden. Thanks for the ride.Stay safe and have a blessed day.🚜👍👏💯
Glad you enjoyed! Thanks so much for watching!

Dave you and Clayton would have a big time together. Plowing is great tractor therapy! Appreciate you watching!
Those plows just roll that dirt right over. Good video.
Yeah they do good! I enjoy turn plowing. Thanks for watching!
Just love hearing the Massey running 👍🏻. Is the 39 Ford a future restore project? Have a great one Ben 🙂🙋🏼♂️👍🏻
