You made it look so easy thanks for sharing just went and bought one today. Gonna try it in the morning. Been using a shovel I needed something to go a little faster. Now I know how to use it. Thanks again..😊
I never knew what that thing was for any time I saw it by the shovels and garden stuff at the store. Thanks so much. Perfect timing too, I need this for my garden.
Thanks for your video! I bought one of these recently and heard good things, but my experience wasn't great. Now I see I was using it wrong. 🤦🏾😄 Excited to try it again now !
You mentioned that you can push or pull. I was hoping you demonstrated the push as well. You just raked with it. I just learned of this tool. Definitely looks helpful.
I bought mine at Lowe’s about fifteen years ago and use it every summer in the garden and scrub beds. Yeah, Johnnys making a killing at fifteen dollars. Hell, I paid sixteen at the time. In the store to get a shovel a couple of months ago and now there twenty two. Hell of a markup johnny. Go get em
I was looking at that one from Johnny seed’s and was wondering if it was worth it, would only weed small stuff, etc. This video convinced me - I need that tool! Gets the grass weeded so fast. Thanks for sharing this.
Need to get one of those.. although I don't have much of a problem with weeds anymore. Soak the ground, lay down cardboard, soak the cardboard, then lay down a thick layer of woodchip mulch, chips from branches with the leaves, not that bark or long chipped stuff in bags at the store. You want the stuff from the tree trimmers. My entire garden is surviving 110+ temps and I haven't watered in two weeks. Not trying to sound like I'm stuck up. I'm just trying to pass along what works! I understand that this test garden was for the purpose of showing off the stirrup hoe. Good luck with your endeavors.
Big Dan Hi Dan....you can come and mulch my garden borders anytime!! lol. I have no access to the type of mulch you are referring to. I can only find the bark type mulch, bagged, from larger stores.
Amazingly I found one of these last week while cleaning up someone elses shed hauling most of the junk to the dump. I am thoroughly impressed with how it works! While mine doesn't have a replacement blade it still cleaned up the pathways I have yet to mulch in no time flat. I didn't even rake it up haha nothing was seeding so I'll just cover it with chips when I can. I was beside myself when I found it. What a good example--a year ago I'd have either thrown it with the rest of the junk, or put it in my collection and never thought about it again. Thanks to you, now I have another great tool in my arsenal which will get used!
turdsandwicher don't mix them in ,just dollop a thick layer on the ground, leave the benificial bugs and microbes to pull down the nutrients , it protects them whilst they do this job for you and it protects the soil🙋
Mark, thanks for the demo, i had a question, how well do these work on settled, non tilled, undisturbed dirt? i want to use it to shave off about 6 inches of dirt on the high spots of a 16X20 square. leveling ground for a small above ground pool. Will the lesser quality and price ones work as well or does the blade bow out and break?
Great tool. I bought one last night and I have been preaching it's ease of use and how great a job it does on crab grass and anything else you don't want in the ground. On a side note: The American Flag is ALWAYS hung with the blue field on the left. You need to fix that ASAP!
James Campbell And from the other side it is on the left. Since flags are not made layered they will always be backwards when viewed from on of the two sides.
James Campbell Actually, it is hanging on a pole that is sticking straight out from the fence, not flat on the fence (wall). I tried hanging it angled up 45 degrees, but the wind kept flipping it up on top of the fence. So, it is hanging on a horizontal pole perpendicular to the fence. But, thank you for caring.
There is a video called Ames Action modification by Zombie Cosmonaut on RUclips where he adds a "D" ring to the handle which solves the issue you mentioned (for which you suggested adding tape.)
Now how do i pick up all the dead grass or weeds? some are really tiny using a shovel to pick up brings in dirt.. how do i just get the weeds/grass/dead stuff without bringing massive amounts of weed
Great video. Thank you. One question, being that the top of the weed is cut off and the roots remain in the ground will the weed continue to grow again from the roots?
Roots die, with out sun, thats why these things work, once weed is removed the only regrows are new seeds that are difficult to get rid, but it takes ip to three months to regrow.
Depends on the weed. Nutsedge will definitely come back - and worse, because it has extra nutlets in the soil that activate when injury happens. For nutsedge I hit it with a specialty herbicide like sedge ender, wait 2 days for the roots to absorb it, then cut off the top. If you don't want to use something like that you can keep cutting until all the nutlets are spent - takes awhile and you have to stay on top of it every few days so new ones don't form.
If it gets compacted even a little bit, I find this tool unusable - it will bounce right off the surface of my GA clay. A landscaping fork works better for me here. Wished I had one of these when I was in DE and SC with sandy soil though.
Hello. i like your tool. i am a farmer from india pune Maharashtra.i have agriculture land.iam growing custerd apple.and mornings.is it useful for my land.if yes how I will get in india.pls guide. thanks.Dhananjay
You would need to go to www.johnnyseeds.com. That is where I got mine. I think it is very helpful. They have it in different blade widths to suit different needs. You should contact them on their website about getting their very fine product to you. Good luck.
You made it look so easy thanks for sharing just went and bought one today. Gonna try it in the morning. Been using a shovel I needed something to go a little faster. Now I know how to use it. Thanks again..😊
Thank you for that demonstration. I have been looking at several tools, but you made this one look the best and easiest to use.

I just got one and I love it! My children tried it and they both bought one for their homes.

I got one of these and quickly cleared out weeds in landscape rock. Works like a charm! Going to try it in our lawn next.
I bought one of these on clearance at Lowes. Had no idea how it was used. Figured I'd eventually find out lol. Nice video👍
Got one years ago I love this tool saves time.
Thank you sir for taking the time to show us!!! Great garden tool..
You mentioned that you can push or pull. I was hoping you demonstrated the push as well. You just raked with it. I just learned of this tool. Definitely looks helpful.
Thanks for the demo, President Bush.
I stumbled apon this video and like your demonstration/ explanation. I Subscribed. Thx
Gotta love it - and Johnny's main offices and sales warehouse is but a short drive down the road from our place! Thanks!
Very helpful demonstration, thanks!
Great video and I will be going out to get one of these in a few minutes.
Uuu
Time for thick mulch now. That looked so easy! (My kind of gardening, lol).
Thank you Mr President.
Never thought i will see president bush gardening!?
Only reason I went to the comments was to see if anyone else thought he looked like George Bush. Lol. First one was yours!
@@bradbutler4213 I didn't want to say anything, but yeah, dead ringer.
Me too...first thing I noticed....lol
El presidente working hard
"Don't like the broccoli, not gonna do it"
In the old days in the South it was called a "scuffle hoe". It cuts the roots below the soil so the weeds dont come back so fast.
Works best on dry hard soil. Keep sharp and clean when using. If soil clumps on blade I use a stick to remove it. Carefully!
Yep, that seems to match my weeding "style". :-D Looks like I'll be getting one. Thanks for the demo!
Thanks for this, very useful.

Now they cost $50 and up…
Nifty tool! I think I’ll order one. Thanks.
Thank you Mark. I bought one last year and I like your video the best. Your soil looks like mine as well. Thanks again for the video !!
Thank you.

with the wood chips do you till them in to start the year?
turdsandwicher don't mix them in ,just dollop a thick layer on the ground, leave the benificial bugs and microbes to pull down the nutrients , it protects them whilst they do this job for you and it protects the soil🙋
so satisfying, thank you!
I love this tool. It really is that good!!
Very good my friend, I really liked this tool. I'll make one. Greedings from Brasil.

Seems to be a very beneficial for your garden. I guess you'll be hanging on to it. Good for you.

Got to get me one.

Very good sir
Where can I buy this item?
Great!!!
very very good
good tool sir
...but that IS indeed a sad “garden”...lol. This is my best tool, too!
I didn’t pay attention to who it was until i read the comments lol
Dove posso trovare il tuo arnese lo trovo molto utile grazie
Good for light sandy soils only?
will this tool loosen up packed soil?
Question: looks absolutely great. But...how hard was the ground? Thank you.
This would be for ground that was tilled at the start of the season, it's not for tilling.
What good does it do to cut the tops off the weeds. They will just come back in a week.
If used correctly it cam cut the roots an inch or more under the ground….
How difficult is it to sharpen it?
Good for light soils
Hello how to get information about agriculture things please reply
Holy cow, Jeb Bush?
Very nice sir
Where can I get some to purchase?
super
I didn’t know George Bush was a gardener! 🤣
Would this work with clay-like soil? I have a H*LL of a time with weeds in the tough soil
it does but it needs to be moist, or try adding compost and some gypsum if its heavy clay
If it gets compacted even a little bit, I find this tool unusable - it will bounce right off the surface of my GA clay. A landscaping fork works better for me here. Wished I had one of these when I was in DE and SC with sandy soil though.
If you could redo this video, but without saying a word, this would be an awesome video.
Where I can get 1. Please.
Is it available in thiruvananthapuram
my cat tries to bite and scratch me whenever i use this tool , could this tool be posessed . i feel cry
