Love this video! Great tips about etiquette and relationships. YES, judgement free zone - we all like different aspects of different designs, that should be celebrated.
I absolutely love your videos so much because they are so logical and to the point! I often wonder did Hermes make the rules or did people just play into it thinking it was how you got a bag? I hear people say they spent this much and this much and all of this and got a bag in 6 months. Then I hear someone say they bought a cardholder a lipstick and got the bag in 6 months. So who’s to say the spending history had anything to do with getting the bag. It could have well just been availability or rapport with SAs. When we start asking for the same things, isn’t it obvious to the SAs what we are really after? I feel like they are in the back saying “I got another one on the journey” and having a good chuckle. 😂 I think your advice to read the SA, take leads from them and just be honest and sincere is the way to go. You are not more savvier than the SAs that deal with customers like us all the time. The best Hermes video to date! 👏👏👏😘😘😘
Thanks so much! My SA has stories for days of customers' preconceived ideas ideas of the H shopping experience. Even if buying all of these things aren't necessary, no SA in their right mind will dissuade customers who are ready and willing to spend!!!
@@sococo1464 Exactly! I hear some countries they blatantly tell you “you need to buy more” but mostly those are in Asia. I don’t think it’s the same in the US market, at least not at all stores. But everyone thinks it the only way and just keeps buying thinking that the HAVE to. Everything points to SA SA SA! The more I see and hear about Hermes, a good SA seems to be the key to the holy grail! You nailed it! 🙌🙌🙌
Well said. Everything was said in such a graceful manner. I am on a journey as well and I’ve spent quite a lot but no offers yet. What you said is right. Shopping shouldn’t be too stressful. It’s made me realize at the end of the day, it’s just a bag. I’m not giving up hope to get my dream bag. Instead, I’m taking it easy. It will come to me if it’s destined to be.
Yes, it should be fun. That may be easier said than done when you have your heart set on something but try your best to enjoy the brand. You've already put you intentions out there so fingers crossed that you get your dream bag soon!!!
This entire “journey “ thing is beyond ridiculous. If Hermes doesn’t want to sell me a birkin I’ll go to Chanel. I’m not that desperate for a birkin and if consumers are willing to play that kind of game, it’s the consumers fault. Remember, without the money of the consumers, they are NOTHING!
Super girl Band I loved your comments! It is absolutely true that shopping is just that. If it affects our mood or life quality, then we should look further into it. It is so comforting to listen/watch such a stable RUclips channel that isn’t about “flexing” or criticism, negativity, pushing luxury on the viewers or simply exaggerating... You sound very grounded and smart. I happily subscribed 💜
Excellent tips and a very polished delivery of the information. Thank you for your thoughts on the matter; I think they apply to many more circumstances than just shopping, they are great people skills and good manners.
Great tips I’ve never been too interested in the Kelly or Burkin but I agee I’m not buying things I don’t care for to get a bag when a bag is what I want
After about two years I went back to the same store and looked for the same SA. He said he remembers me. Is that a good sign? Lol. However, my SA seems to be very busy. I feel he has a long waitlist for all popular bags.
Hi, thank you for these tips. I've been trying to buy something from Hermes but they aren't making it easy to take my money. It's as if they are allergic to it. Is it me? I know I'm not a super important person, but aging mothers next door love shopping, too... I have been to a few stores across my state (Cali) looking for non quota bags, not necessarily looking to 'bait' buying a quota bag, but if they would at least have any bags in stock I'd probably consider, but they are completely out. The first store the SA just said, "I'm all out," after I had been standing in line for a couple minutes to be invited in the store. It's still that busy. It's sandal season, I guess! The second time I asked "well, do you know when you'll have any?" and the SA said, "No. There has been a leather *shortage. Since the beginning of the pandemic. We get bags from time to time, but they immediately sell out." There was an explanation, but not an invitation to follow up. It hurt, I may be making assumptions, but usually people give me a card or something! There are brands that are just as "nice" and they seem to want my business. Is Hermes just not the brand for me? Or is the Pretty Woman effect + FOMO part of the way they hook you?
Unfortunately, since the pandemic many have this experience. If getting an H bag is really important to you then I would keep trying until you find an SA that seems kind and willing to work with you. You may need to go through quite a few SAs and perhaps stores before you find the right person for you. There are good SAs out there but patience is key. So again consider carefully how much you want these bags before you venture down this time consuming and potentially frustrating path. HTH
This is very SA dependent. My SA would take great offense to me having another SA in the same city but would be unbothered by an overseas SA (i.e. France or UK.) Other SAs may not notice or care at all same city or not.
Excellent video 💟 These tips are very helpful. I think one thing that shocked me the most of Hermes is how tuned in SAs and Hermes employees are with social media. I appreciate you talking about this because it helps to centre and ground some of us to be cognizant that they really do notice what you say online. I also agree about just being a bit respectful about the SAs time if you don't have an intention of buying at that time in the store. It's their job to and they have targets to hit. The message of tolerance is so important! I don't like the weird judgment about these houses from other luxury enthusiasts. Let's enjoy our Birkins and Capucines in peace 😂 without judging others. Such a great message!!
A couple years ago, I was shocked when my SA told me about clients talking crap on YT and IG!!! All the SAs seem to know about these RUclipsrs/Instagramers. Well we know how I feel about the luxury police!!!
I think your video was very helpful. I learn how not to irritate or waste an SA’s time. I love the Hermès brand but most times I’m not sure what I need so I enjoy watching RUclips videos to learn and to see what others are buying and how they like it. I’ve found a lot of you tubers I enjoy watching. I also love other brands like Chanel and LV. I like your thoughts on how we shouldn’t be so judgmental on other peoples likes and dislikes. But of course we need to keep some comments to ourselves. And only put out honest opinions that help and also positive opinions too. Thank you for your suggestions.
Hi, your videos seems pretty informative. Do you know if the SA gets commissions on an in-store transferred (from another store) item sold? And if i buy things online THROUGH my SA, does my SA get the commissions of the things i purchased online?
As far as I know as long as your SA made all the arrangements for the transfer or the on-line request, they will receive the credit. However, if you order online and choose the collect in store option, they will not receive any sort of commission. I could be wrong so please check with your store. Thanks for watching!
Hi dear!! Congrats on 1k followers! Anyway, really great insight and tips about our relationship with our SA. And yes you are right, it is just luxury shopping and just for fun... TFS love and have a blessed weekend 💖💜🎀
I so agree with everything you stated. One must know the temperament of his/her SA. I also do try to keep my text and email Professional, or I’ll fellow my SA lead. I never call 📞 or text too often asking for any items. Like u stated Coco; I give my request , then I wait. No one likes a annoying client. If I feel like an SA is just not responsive or friendly, I simply get another SA( similar to what you stated you did at the Hermès store) In the end it’s just a bag. It’s not the end of the world 🌎. This was such a great video Coco💕
I will definitely try to be mindful! Its true SA have a lot to manage with many clients I cannot send long text or emails to make sure she remembers me. We need to be kind in everything we do (including comments 💖) thank you!!
Thank you for the tips! Btw I've watched your conspiracy video where you mentioned about getting a more mature SA might be easier in the long run to get a bag (which makes sense) but yesterday I went to my local H store for the first time and met with this SA who's still on training.. We get along pretty well and later on, I found out that my first H purchase was her first sales (felt like meant to be, right?) Do you think I should continue with her or look for new SA?
I think the most important factor is how well you get on with an SA. Any SA can eventually offer you a bag. However, my overall point is that a senior SA may not need you to spend as much to hit their targets in oder to offer you a bag. I would stick with whomever I feel that I have the best relationship. Thanks for watching!
I had the same experience and am wondering the same thing. She was lovely but I could tell the senior SAs were extremely busy. I actually got passed from one SA trainee to another SA trainee, they were both friendly. The trainer gave me her work cell phone at the end before I paid.
Silly me. A decade ago I was offered to create a custom birkin or kelly at Hermes Paris. This was just after buying a lizard bearn wallet. I declined the offer. 🤯
First time seeing your video. Really like your shares of this. For newbies like me to Hermes it is not a norm for me to know exactly how SA’s want to be approached. I’ve only been into the store once on a slow weekday. The SA is a manager and she was very helpful and friendly. She even offered her cell to schedule the next visit when we want to come by next. She even offered us a tour of both floors and different products they offer. Total time she spent about an hour on us and we only bought 2 Calvis that day. She was lovely. I was trying to stay connected sending her a couple holiday wishes, but I realized that probably isn’t helpful to her. I did reach out another time inquiring about cosmetics and she was able to answer. I think we are still ok relationship wise. I’m not going to be her big ticket client as I’m not close to being able to buy a Birkin. However, I hope to in the future. Would love that boutique experience for a bag purchase.
Maybe now I have some idea how to have my own SA. So if i want my own I just remember the name and ask for the same person again and again. Ok. Someone must really go a few times to have feeling they have own SA. I am shocked that some people go to a shop to just talk to SA to make them remembered. Wow.
We’re totally related. I have a few days in a whole year to go luxury shopping. It has to be my good days and I don’t enjoy myself going to Chanel so I stopped! Love your video!
I've never given my SA a gift. I'm not sure that they're allowed to accept gifts. Maybe if it's something that they can share with the rest of the staff (e.g. donuts) but not even sure about that. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for this helpful tips. It’s an eye opener for me coz I’ve been buying @ Hermes with my 2nd SA since 1st SA left, I have Pre spending almost 1:2 ratio but my SA told me to wait 2 years. She don’t reply to my email, refuse to give her Celphone but I’m already trap just waiting my quota bag. Is it too late to switch now?
That's so difficult and impossible for me to advise on especially since you're already at 2:1. There are too many unknown factors such as the overall vibe of the store, will a new SA consider your prior prespend and is 2 yrs the typical wait time for new customers at your boutique? If you don't have friends who shop at your boutique then try to find some info on facebook and/or purse forum to see if it makes sense to stay with this SA until you get a bag and then switch. Good luck with your decision!
SAs do earn salaries/commission. It is very normal to wait for a year for a bag. Rather than think about time, think about your relationship with your SA. If you have a good relationship with your SA and don't feel pressured to buy things then the bag will come eventually. Thanks for watching!
I have bought two Lindy many years ago from the only boutique in my country. Do you know if that counts as shopping history? I'm interested in buying a Kelly now.
That would be impossible for me to say. I would guess no but it's tough to say without knowing the details of your store and SA. For ex you may not need any purchase history at some stores with high tourist traffic. For very competitive stores i.e. San Francisco, Sydney, Vancouver, etc you would need much more than 2 Lindys. But as I always say, a good SA can make anything possible! Thanks for watching!
