I miss this show , I learned so much watching it back in the 90's . Todays DYI's are drama and side show crap and leave out the fine details of the job , Home Time was one of the best DYI series of all time.
Why can't all "how to" videos be like this? Informative, to the point, no bullshit.
80's 90's was straight to the point decade
Yes it was.
@@derellnichols7666 we didn't understand clickbait yet.
I agree. This video is informative straight to the point. Empowering me with knowledge of Fence 101 & 201 so that i believe this IS a doable DIY. Thank You ALL, Very Much!
Lol, nowadays they’d spend the first five minutes plugging their RUclips channel and asking you to subscribe.
I really miss these two!❤ Joanne made me feel confident as a woman tackling home improvement projects
Best video I've seen about installing a fence...very detailed, straight to the point with no BS...
holy cow! Takes me back to my childhood! haha yes I was the kid who used to watch hometime for fun. Miss these guys. Back when people watched TV to learn stuff. Now we have youtube lol. My how the world has changed.
I remember watching these guys I think on PBS back in the day!
Thank you for the great instructions! Straight to the point, no boring chitchat, specific measurements, lots of tips. Best fencing video I’ve found so far.
Thanks for posting this VERY informative video. Now I know I'm hiring someone to install my fence. Awesome tutorial.
Trying to close in my backyard for my dog to run around and play in. Nice video
I love their chemistry. Even if it's for the video, it feels authentic and real. They work together, man and women... husband and wife. Building something together that last.
what was the name of their show ?
Great video, answered all my questions about the fencing details in building a chain link Kennel.
very happy that you helped my video
Add a cable along the bottom especially for dogs. FYI
Thank you, that was great. I appreciate being able to do it myself and now I can.
Very perfect video ever. I love your right on to the job kind of presentation. No time wasted. THANK YOU MUCH.
😂 they waisted more time than I've ever seen
Hometime with Dean and Jo Jo , brings back memories
Haven't seen them in years! I wonder how old this is?
@@chriswhite2151 Really old. From the '80s I guess. 87?
@@chriswhite2151 Jojo now. ruclips.net/video/X4tUpyGhlFs/видео.html
Early 90's
wonderful video! thanks so much! can't wait to start on my fence
Great video . I have a question , why did you leave out the tension wire that goes at the bottom of the fence and attaches to the very bottom of the chainlink fabric with wire rings ?
i noticed that too, they didnt run the guild wire along the bottom, some people thread it thru the fabric, other people use hog rings and hog ring plyers and attach it to the bottom
Hello,
I’d like to ask for your advice. I have a fence with 19 terminal posts in a straight line. The terminal posts are 2-3/8” inches and 6ft tall above the ground. They are embedded 24 inches down in concrete. Approximately 15 of these posts are not plumb. They are slightly not level. Approximately 5 degrees off. I have a top rail going. I have also a top rail bar that is tension banded between all of these posts. My worry is that over time the terminal posts will continue to tilt. Should I correct them now or is it not worth the effort? What kind of lifespan can I expect if they are going to continue to tilt? Thank you in advanced.
When was all these videos filmed? They needed there on show I'd watch it
How do you repair a hole in chain link fence. It's been cut.
Nice idea mam......phillipines ..good job mam ser........
Now that my friends is a tutorial...

Good video! If only I had terrain as easy as that. I have clay soil and old landscape material.
I have rocky terrain. If clay is too hard i can send you good quality rock. Me help you.
Lol.
Video was exactly what we needed. Could do without a million ads though, thanks RUclips 😑
you get a ad blocker extension on your browser to watch yt without ads. I use ABP blocker
Hallo brother godd morning.. 👍👍👍
Gate posts should be how far apart?
What a naïve video. This will work for almost no one. You usually have to dig every hole out by hand. You guys are working with the most beautiful loamy sod that anyone would be envious to have.
Good old Hometime, when TLC was actually worth watching
Ya, that's the part no one shows. A steep angle and a short distance eludes me
Nowadays they’d turn it into some sort of reality tv drama.
The practical part of TLC has been relegated to YT, and they know it.
Best information for farming and for house fencing thanks......
3:05 Do you sell those special levels reading glasses 🤓 that helps to get it nice and straight I’ll bet that’s a professional tip right there.
Thank you so much
Thus a question, please: what do you do to release the winch tensión?
Ned Flanders ? :-) Mrs Flanders appears to have got dressed in the dark. She has Neds shorts on :-)
Colin Riley haha
Colin Riley o notice how she only blabbers...the hard work is ALWAYS done by the man.
Besides she always speaks with "I did x", while the man always says " we did this"...she is not only useless but also a selfish narcissists that cant help but brag about petty work she is doing
Bet she looks HOT in Daisy Mays!
This is around 1987. edit; after 1987 @88-92
Great work!
That aside,they're a great team.
Thumbs up
Very good job briefed in neat & clear manner. I am planning to do my site. Where to get these ( fencing ) materials from are they available in Home depo.
1985 Was Such an Awesome year !
Very good instructions! Good job!
I cant find who sells the shoe post and anchor blades anywhere? does anyone know where to get them????????
Really a good video. Thank you. Now can I get a woman like that at Menards? I like the way she speaks, carries herself and I believe she knows how to think. My bet is she can do just about any task given to her. I'll bet she can build a house, fix a car, and even fly an airplane. This video is really about her isn't it?
Jose Jolapeno o notice how she only blabbers...the hard work is ALWAYS done by the man.

Jose Jolapeno just teach your lady
Jose Jolapeno get u a farm girl
don trump wow buddy you need therapy. Did you come here to learn how to install a fence? Upset a woman is doing some of the work with a man? Upset a woman is working or that a couple is working together? Will you still build the fence or did this ruin it for you?
It's ok. I bet your name sake as soft hands too and just directions others to get their hands dirty.
don trump and the one guy proved your "I did this" is false and was said once or twice and he time stamped them. Go to the bar and whine about your ex.
My goodness! It's amazing how many viewers think that the person who posted the video actually recorded it. People, this is a clip from an episode of an old home improvement television program called Hometime.
Really, if that is true. You tube should be punished for letting someone to break the copy right law. Thank you for letting me know.
@@mezdaw3168 It's from PBS so they may not care.
Do you have a books or anything that explain or something like a tutorial teachable vidoes for Lanscaping and garden design.
Why do people dislike great information
Where can one buy those post anchors?
Very good and very nice sister
شئ رائع للغايه ومنسق لدرجه مذهله حيث كل شئ محسوب وكامل الاكسسورات
Something very cool and coordinated to an amazing degree, where everything is calculated and complete with accessories
At least this woman is smart in saying that they plumb the post, not like a lot of fools in saying level the posts.
hi,very good video,i would like to know the size of the tension bar?is it possible to install the link fence with cement post?
Thanks for your feedback
So did you say you were accosted?
Good video - I'm going to go outside and try it. Thanks.
joecanzano you
Nice vid. Very helpful, thanks.
+Michael DePew Thank you so much
I used to watch them all the time, What was the name of this show
Johnathan Sumerlin Hometime. I think they still run it on PBS
Home Time , great show long before youtube and the internet.
Super helpful video - thank you SO much! :)
will you be running top or bottom wire down the run?
How reliable are those anchors over time? And is there anyplace to buy them online?
i can supply to you from india
GOOD GOD bless you
Love this one it's specifically 😊
Other than that there was some good tips in here so if you are doing a fence and have no experience give it a watch I just recommend digging holes putting your posts in then cementing the meanwhile you can still move them to make them plum
the tension bands are always 1 less than the height of the fence so 4 ft fence would use 3 tesion bands on the terminals 6 on the corner terminals
Yes, six on each corner because you're going in two directions.
What year did ALL of the dimensions change for posts and accessories? Nothing at the store matches my old chain link fence.
Best guess is your looking at cheaper home owner fencing which is made lighter duty to keep costs down. Or it may be foreign import fencing made to metric standards. Check/call your local fence supply store or look up specs at fence manufacturers like Master Halco and then find a dealer near you. Commercial fencing is heavier duty and often times thicker.
@@bellyache4860 You are probably right, I noticed the new fence parts at the store are made in China, and are thinner.
Where did you get the fence post anchors?
@@cbrr7615 yeah after building my fence I can see why
Hey Hon...how come we have no power in the house? Oh Oh
You dont have to cut them if you set in concrete.. just set to height
How far apart are the post?
it gives me idea for my cat enclosure but need to improvised. awesome video :))
Where did she get those shorts? Asking for a friend
First, you need a DeLorean, set the time to 1987, and some banana peels for Mr. Fusion, and you're all set.
Great video guys 💯
Can you supply the link to where one could buy the shoe and anchor devices?
please contact me with whatsapp:008618210580856.e-mail:hbhymachine@gmail.com
you don't need the anchoring shoes that's a waste of time all you have to do is drive the post into the ground they will stay the ground will not push them out of place
I am also looking for that device.
Ronald Scalf ,
I have to install 54 of those line post into FL grass. So, that is exactly what l wanted to know.
how do i install a center stop to prevent my 2 door gate from opening? thanks.
1. If you think someone is going to tell you how to do it, you're nuts.
2. Stop being a lazy ass and do a search, lazy skank.
I picked this video because the thumbnail had a guy who looks like a Dad in it.
Nice video, informative. Using that small level to level the posts is not something I would recommend.
Should cement be poured inside of the metal posts (for about a foot) to add stability?
Carolyn Wolfe no but it good to dig hole widder and bottom of pipe makes it harder to pull out ground
looks like you need a winch,a wrench and a wench for a good looking fence.
Lol
can you show me how that system works on a slope with plum posts please
put wood on top of post then hammer, wow cutting the post way too much work .
I wonder how long it took to do the whole thing?
dsantiago988 for them probably a week. we usually set the posts and then come back 2 days later and stretch the fence. all together the time that it takes to set them and stretch them is probably 4 to 5 hours
cara kerja dan kerja sama nya patut ditiru
It will be useful if you put the link where the the various materials can be purchased. :-)
I think u need a few more ads in this video to make me see another video. After the 3rd ad, I did just that. Hope the fence came out ok.
i
U havent show how 2 people pick ur wire from ground ....amazing
what's the name of the anchoring devices you used? lowes does not have them. how can i find them online?
Mando Rodriguez fff
Great job!
I wonder when this was originally aired.
💐I am intrested and like this economical fencing . I have to guard my plot. Guide me further . Awaiting for your reply. 💐
where can i find the anchors and anchor blades that replace concrete ??
+Juan Rivera Thank you
+Mr Sir i didnt write thank you they did. did they even read my question i think you meant
+Juan Rivera Apparently, this person ripped the video off from the Hometime TV channel, which is why they're not reading /answering the questions. Check out the newer comments and you will find the owners of the video asking for the video to be taken down.
you can see these new videos ruclips.net/channel/UCqnklyWZOjuLSrd0LGr-CRgvideos
@@sarcasticallyrearranged The owner is PBS. I can assure you they know how to do a takedown request, if they care.
That is a fantastic video 👍👍

Each rhombus unit Angeles should possess small sharp barbs in order to produce excellent fencing for small land farms.
i can buy this machine help me ...
good job.
Back when RUclips didn't have clickbait videos.
what is the name of the tool used at minute 11:15 to pull the mesh?
Come-a-long
You guys are so funny ....
Didn't show how to set the grade for the line post can't just make them all 46 inch ground mark would def look like shit
derrick robinson it's always 3 inches less than the hight of the fence say if you have a 6ft fence instead of marking 72 inches you mark 69 to make it exactly 72 when you put the cap on it
FrostbiteX definitely not true, grades in every yard varies, and with chainlink you have to account for the top rail and also leaving a little bit of the diamond sticking up past the top rail, so say you have a 4 ft tall chain link fence, usually you'd wanna set the post at about 46 inches, while also leaving clearance at ground level so they can still trim grass
